OMG! At 6:20, the ladies holding the name banners...the one in the yellow holding the Micky banner is ME! Oh, my. I was talking about that night to my hubby while at the Greek last Sat. !
There was a Monkees convention in LA, Sept of that year. I flew out to LA with a few friends who were also big Monkees fans to attend the convention at the Holiday Inn in Hollywood. What a great time! We got to hear the guys speak and take questions, we saw Head at the theater, I think it was Pantages, where Head at first premiered and closed in 1968. We had 2nd row seats to the first LA show at the Greek, I didn't however see the show that Mike joined in. I had become friendly with Davy's bus driver and after the Mike show, I ran into him and he had been looking for me so he could take to the show that night, but he didn't find me as I didn't give him my room number. Anyways after we talked about the show we went to the top floor bar and once we exited the elevator we had to pick our way through a crowd of people camping out, waiting, sitting on the floor for what reason we didn't know but thought there had to be a Monkee close by. We were able to get into the bar and there was Micky Dolenz with the show crews, my driver friend was motioned over but he didn't want to join the group. Any ways a few minutes later our drinks showed up and we were told that Micky was picking up our tab. Also that tour, a friend of mine from the UK stayed with me and we and a few other women attended a concert in LaCrosse WI, just across the border of MN. After the concert we stopped at the hotel bar that we were staying at and there was Davy and his wife having a drink, my friend went over and talked to him as she knew him from his pantomines in England and we ended up with tickets to the Duluth, MN concert the next day, compliments of Davy. I never got to meet Peter but it was a great time and everyone was so nice and friendly
I think you are remembering the wrong show. August 27: Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Denver, Colorado: 20th Anniversary Tour with Herman’s Hermits, Gary Puckett and The Union Gap, and The Grass Roots featured as opening acts on the tour. I was there.
About 15:00, the 3 of them got closer to the audience, they didn't do that when I was there, except for Micky ; for awhile, he was closer to them, this one guy, older than him, Micky was pointing at him , saying - "He's not singing! This guy's not singing!"
Yeah, I was at the one in Norfolk VA, & the security guards kept trying to take away my "video camera". It was a Super-8 "sound" film camera loaded with silent film. I had to keep opening the side of the camera to prove there was no sound film in the camera! Jerks.
