It's a hard decision to put $1,900 into a car that might only be worth $4,000. Obviously you want to hang onto it. But then have you seen the new, sporty Prius models?? You could've traded the '04 in for a new one and suddenly have a car that girls will like.
Not when you consider the cost of a new car. A new Prius at the minimum is a ~$23k cars, and I can guarantee you not many girls would be very impressed with it haha. You'd be hard pressed to find a car capable of going another 150k miles for $1900, and also get 45 mpg.
dude their are only 2 wires that are not in a molex connector its a no brainer i just replaced my hv battey with a refurbed battery just to see if im going to like this cari live in the heart of the rust belt so this prius will be in the scrap yard from rust in the next 5-7 years...ps its working very well by the way...
Got a Toyota Tacoma 97 T100 3400 four Cam 24 engine Automatic X-Cab truck mine change coil pack ignition module ignition lighter fuel pump fuel regulator injectors spark plugs, crank run but step on gas pedal die every time want run wait hour crank run but soon as step on gas pedal die every time
nice vid, but you gave GM a bit too much credit imho ;), Saab still developed a lot of this car in Sweden. Lot of improvements on the chassis too, most importantly; all the early (pre 2012) 4cylinder turbo engines are pretty much Saab engines, block is GM, but Saab developed it on it's own, internals, motor management, turbo's, bits and bops. that engine is a class apart :) (and the 1.8t is a low pressure saab 2.0 engine(B207E), whilst the NA 1.8 is pretty much an Opel engine (Z18XE), in 2012 a 160hp and a 220hp 4cylinder (A20NFT) was offered, the V6's (LP9) and diesels (Z19D*) those are all general GM's). cheers for the vid!
I love my T100. Paid $2800 for mine and it's still going strong. 3.4L 6.5ft bed, 2wd, automatic. It's perfect for my needs and does not miss a beat. 253k miles so far, hopefully another quarter million to go.
You just made me love this car even more. Excellent review! You showcased many of the loved and controversial elements, giving honest and decent takes. Great shots of the Z, both exterior and interior, and even a multi-angled joyride at the end. Thank you for that! Now I'm sold! Btw, what year is it?
Any one can talk but a truck built in Japan is the best. I have a 1998 T100 extra cab 4x4 and I take care of it religiously. Nothing last unless you take care of it. Now a days toyota may have lost its touch by building the new gen trucks in USA.
What year is yours? Great review. You actually made me want to go buy one. I loved the 350z, but it was so expensive back in those days. Now I make enough cash and wanted a reliable, fast sports car. 1st car I ever drove was an 85 Iroc-Z with a modified 350 engine. Now I'm trying to buy my 1st sports car.
Currently, summer 2024, you can buy a decent Saab 9-3 convertible in the UK for under $2000 (I do mean dollars not GBP). Ours is a 2007, 1.9 Tid 150, 110k miles. The hood and interior are like new. It has new alloy wheels and tyres, a new turbo, clutch, water pump and cam belt, and everything works as it should, with no leaks, including the hood hydraulics. We also have a 2010 9-3 Sportwagon, same engine but had 150k miles when we got it. Again, all good but in the five years of ownership I have had a clutch and flywheel done at my local Saab specialist for $800 all in. That one is now at 185k and produces slightly better performance than the 'vert, very, very good Fiat engines returning 45 mpg in the 'vert and 50 mpg in the wagon. Some people insist Saab was ruined by GM and point at EGR, DPF and other faults, however, if properly maintained these problems are either avoided or easy enough to fix. To replace the EGR is a 30 minute job, cleaning the DPF can restore performance where a car has not been used on the open road, etc. Most 9-3 in the UK are manual, six speed. There are automatics available of course and they are well suited to the petrol models, but I believe problematic in diesels. Italian engines need a good hard run every now and again, and that is also true of my 2011 Alfa Giulietta, which has the same Fiat 1.9 turbo diesel, goes 0 - 60 in around 8 seconds and returns 65 miles per gallon.
There is a 1997 s90 sedan for sale with 75k miles nearby me. It was a grandpa car and they're only asking $3k. It has been sitting for 2 years though, not sure if I should commit. I'm sure I will have to change all the fluids and belt/pulleys. What do you think?
Unfortunately, SAAB was strike out of marketing after the agreement 🤝 with GM. The branch SAAB is iconic and has a handling feature kind of car and safe. Come back SAAB.
I bought a 2005 last year with 164,000 miles. It came with new but inexpensive tires. My question: I feel every single bump in the road, and is that the age of the car? Or is that something that can be fixed in older cars?
You forgot the 140-series in your history lesson. The sedan came out in 1965 if i remember correctly. We hada 1973 145 when i was growingup. Had that car until 2009. Then it had 300k miles on the clock. An excellent car. We had lon caravan vacatins every year and dad drove it daily. He were a b smith so he could ix it himself. He fixed rust by adding stainless steel which he shaped with an hammer and anvil to the correct shape. So maybe 40% or so of that car were stainless steel in the end. Now i gota 97 S90 though. The penultimate 900-series car. Its for sale now with only 100k miles and damn its smooth and nota speck of rust. Im seeling that and keeping my 1996 Cadillac Deville. Itsa tough choice and i suspect the sane thing wouldbe to keep the Volvo but wel....
In love with my reliable Generation 2, 2008 Prius, with 170,000 miles. Bought new 25K 10/2007. Excellent shape, since its garage kept. Original Battery perhaps due to less corrosion on the hybrid battery connections? Has additional front and rear running lights. The HID headlights failed but replaced them myself by feeling my way with my hand and did not have to take the bumper off. They are much brighter than the originals. Replace the 12V battery twice. New water pump. New left front bearing. 2 New PVC valve replacement. Fix a leak in the air-conditioning system. Cleaned hybrid battery fan with an added cleanable filter screen at the air intake. Sometimes the dash lights go out when the weather gets cold then will go back on within 50 miles of driving. Heard it’s cold solder joints on the electronics? Went 90K 10yr. with the energy saver Defender Michelin tires and replaced them with the regular Defender Michelin tires. Loss a few miles per gallon but handles better and a softer ride maybe due to new thread. The Prius is used for long trips only with an average mileage of 50+ MPG. Short trips are by bike, feet and public transit all year. It’s a beautiful sports car Barcelona RED and a sleeping camping car with a 6’ bed with great cargo capacity. Adding a portable inverter makes a 115 Volt generator for back up efficient home power with the on and off cycle of the engine. The Princess Prius is a tough survivor like the princess cat in the movie “The Incredible Journey”. The beautiful large dash display is ahead of its time with sharp graphics like a space ship. Ran out of gas, and a whole dashboard lit up including the triangle of death (indicates serious malfunction - do something now!). Fortunately filled up 1/2 mile away before the battery became too low. Never again!! It’s an adventure reliable stealth vehicle that slips through the air quietly! The best smooth styling of all the model years. Definitely a incognito James Bond vehicle with secret abilities never to be underestimated. So watch out!!! Soon it will become a classic antique with appreciating value.
I’m thinking about selling my 94 Xj country with a 100k miles. Immaculate interior and 8/10 exterior condition. How much do you think I can get for it today? Thank you in advance for any advice 🙏🙏🙏🙏
1997 trans am ws6, 4at , 1.6 roller rockers no cats, even up until 80, flys away after 80mph. They aren't fast once you get close to 100mph v8 torque, hp and aerodynamics just keeps.pulling! Suggestion a supercharger as torque drops low once you get to 6000rpms to redline 240tq vs over 300 on v8 trans am! Scratching my head why 370z weights as much as the v8 trans am? 3350lbs?... should only be around 3000 at most. It's a v6 and 2 seater vs trans am 4 seater v8 ?!...
What an awesome video! Thank you, little brother😉🤪. I am a big Saab fan and I appreciate this homage to automotive uniqueness, man. It is slim pickings these days, kiddo-so to see something analog is a freakin' joy. JV Johnny ⚾⚾
It's a thin belt (width) and this is an interference engine, so while I'm sure the belt could last well beyond the recommended interval, Volvo chose to be very cautious to save their customers the heartache of a blown engine.
Well okey 2:48 and it's not 8 years ago review this type-r. Actualy based on your body I think you'd better get into brz. You are asked to make some sacrifices based on an amount you spend as msrp for that AIO pc hardware for ryzen products. Can't decide if it's really beautiful 9:14.
Did you get a code or red triangle? Mine is staying in the lower two bars and has no power like you mentioned but the only code I have is for a o2 sensor. Mines a 2008 with 344k. Idk what’s wrong with it, I was fine a week ago.
Was waiting for this one! Great video. I'm surprised by the 2000-5000 range though. The minimum I see on Craigslist/FB is 4-5k, and those are for older ones with even more miles (NC/VA). Are you based in Jersey or just visiting, I ask cause the description mentions AZ.
I'm a huge Z-car guy. I've owned 4 of them, including a 370z. Even so, I think the 2014-2020 Jaguar F-Type was the best-looking car for under $100k. Your acceleration data on the 2009 Mustang GT is wrong. They did 0-60 in the low 5 second range, just like the 370z.
I have a gen 2 (although technically it's a gen 3). It's probably the 7th or 8th Prius in our family. They are undeniably great cars. Well engineered and made to be great cars. They are not supermodels or spaceships, but what they do is exactly what you really need and that is keep going and going. This one I have now is even worse that yours. It's had some rear damage and until recently and probably for a long time been leaking rain into the boot right where the battery is and into the spare wheel well. I got it when it had a bad HV battery. Luckly I know how to fix that up really cheaply (with a few replacement packs). It's still a great car: easy to drive, cheap to run, comfortable, smooth. At the time of writing 19 years old. It'll quite probably last another 19 years.
