Hey y’all! My name is Cameron and I am chess enthusiast based out of Minnesota. Like many others, I got into chess as a result of the pandemic lockdowns, but have really taken steps to improve my game more recently including studying chess texts, analyzing games in more depth, and playing in OTB tournaments. If you’ve found my channel then I am certain we share the same love of the game! My goal is to continue bringing you interesting chess content, whether that be product reviews, game analysis, or stream clips!
You can find me on Twitch and TikTok: www.twitch.tv/cameronginochiochess www.tiktok.com/@cameronginochiochess
I’m fortunate to have partnership with Chessnut, an electronic chess board manufacturer. Check out my product review videos and unboxing and use code “CAMERON” or follow the link below to receive a discount on your Chessnut order.

Appreciate you taking the time to read this and hope you enjoy my channel!
I have very few issues with my Pro (or any Chessnut product for that matter). They aren’t without their faults, but as far as main functionality goes I have a positive experience a vast majority of the time! Happy to answer any other questions
I just received my evo and it seems like the board has a slight concave shape when looking at it feom the side, almost like the center bottom of the board hang lower than the sides, is this normal?
All he says is true and very important; This also results in you LOSING more often, these variables have a much bigger effect on those who wrongly think; “ I am ready and I am going to surprise a lot of people on how GOOD I am “ -- NOT!! The face to face, over the board is a massive change, but -- it is a SO MUCH BETTER EXPERIENCE! Your online level is DEFINITELY NOT. As GOOD when you play your first HANDFUL of over the board games!! You still can gain a lot of insight and LEARN how to use online chess in a BETTER WAY- to help improve your REAL CHESS ( over the board)!
Nice review! I tried your code here in the Netherlands with both the Orange and Grey keys but it is not valid: "CGCHESS discount code isn’t valid for the items in your cart" Do you know if your discount is valid worldwide?
I wouldn't call it perfect while holding it sideways and a figure keeps falling off :) I actually ordered as it's specifically designed for travelling, and the features are great at an attractive prices point. That said, I'm already a little disappointed that magnets are not stronger; probably something they will fix in v2.
lol touché. To be fair though I don’t think it’s realistic for anybody to be playing with the board vertically. I’d imagine it’s hard to balance magnet strength and piece recognition sensors in pieces so small, but I agree that any future iteration will likely improve on that front. Thanks for the comment!
What happens if you close out of the app on these while playing a game, like if you get a phone call or temporarily switch to a different app? Can you just switch back to the Chessnut app and continue the game?
It is because I was argueing with chessnut a lot that it doesnt make sense that we content creators have the same discount Code that they always had on their Website. They had 15%, we had 15% . So after long discussion we agreed 2% more for all creators. So if they have 10%, we have 12% . Otherwise promoting doesnt make any sense.
I would assume this is only the start for magnetic boards now. I predict a whole new series of boards coming out with magnetic features! This is definitely my next purchase after my tattoo 😹
I ordered mine with premium pieces a week and a half ago. It still hasn't shipped.. so I'm just making my way through RU-vid reviews while I ... patiently.. wait for mine :) Nice review!
LMAO OMG literally how i found cam myself. I ordered mine like early april and I should receive mine next Tuesday. it takes forever tbh but from what I have heard. the quality is worth the wait 🫶🏻
Oh that's a nice product. I have the Chess Nut Pro, but it's certainly not a travel sized board. I would never use a physical board with plastic pieces and board, so this is a welcome upgrade. But I agree with you that the wooden pieces could have more detail and weight. Maybe the next revision will have those features.
Would take the Air instead the Air+, I prefer good plastic pieces with correct weight to bad wood pieces. Weight being essential for my enjoyment. I think the Air gives more for the dollar, while Air+ is still great. Notice that I am accustomed to tournament plastic board and pieces, and would love a product that look exactly the same on the correct sizes (and weight), because it's the real thing in clubs, associations, local tournaments, etc.
Hello 👋 I would like to watch any comparison between Chessnut Go and Chessnut Air (or Air+). I think to buy chessnut product to play when I go out home (in the library or cafeteria). Thanks in advanced!
One issue another RU-vid tester has found is that the LEDs aren't very visible when the Go is used outdoors. Something to consider, a shame. Looks great though. Good video!
Great question. Haven’t been able to play enough to even put a dent in the battery so far, I’ve got at least an hour of play time on it and battery still shows full. I’ll make this a part of the full review, for sure. Thanks for the callout.
Hi Cameron, great review!!! Air+ or Pro board? Will my tactile experience be diminished with the smaller Air+ board/pieces? Is the price delta worth it? Thank you again!
Thanks, Matthew! If you have the space, I always recommend the Pro. It’s a drastically better playing experience in my opinion to play on a tournament sized board and worth the money. It’s big though, so if you don’t have the space or if you think you’d ever want to take it with you, then you gotta go Air+ for sure. Thanks for the comment and happy to answer any other questions.
Hello 👋 Thanks for this first video about Chessnut Go. I would like to know if this is possible to turn-off the Bluetooth and connect via cable. I have shaw another video with ChessUp 2 and I believe that is possible to play with bots without internet connections. With Chessnut Go is possible to play without connect to mobile? Thanks in advance!
Hi!! The Chessnut Go requires a connection to mobile/computer in order to play bots or online. The only functionality it has without a connection is to record OTB games (but then you would need to connect wirelessly to view the game later). The USB connection is for charging only, not data transfer
Oh, btw, I would like to extend to you my heartfelt thank you for the discount code you provided with your chess board product reviews! It saved me a generous amount of money with my Chessnut purchases, especially the Pro with the Premium Pieces!!!
@@cameronginochiochess Yes, I do indeed enjoy and look forward to your reviews! In fact, when I was considering the purchase of the Chessnut Pro Electronic Chess Board, it was your review of the Premium Chess Pieces that encouraged me to choose that option and sealed the deal. The delivery time was a little lengthy (2.5 months about), but it was absolutely worth the wait!!! Anyway, thanks again Chess Friend : )
Do you know when Chessnut plans to make preorders available for customer purchase or the actual release date of when they will begin shipping this board? I have the Chessnut Air, Pro, and EVO….all 3 are of exceptional quality and value in my opinion, and expectations are that the Chessnut Go will continue their extraordinary product innovations! Also, I’m excited about Chessnut’s other future release announcement of the MOVE Chess board!!!
@@cameronginochiochess Yeah. For the price, I don’t want to look for hours at a board I am even slightly perturbed by. I like the greater contrast with the regular air though. I reckon I might get that at some point.
@@cameronginochiochess I appreciated your candid review. Thanks! The Evo also seemed a great idea, but I don’t quite understand the 1980s aesthetics. Such a strange choice for the company, to my mind. I had a chess computer the same colour, and with glaring white and black pieces, when I was 9 in 1988. I don’t want another one! Haha.
@@seop1721 hahahaha ok when I first saw it I thought the same thing, but it grew on me a bit. With the big screen I think it makes sense for it to look more modern/futuristic in a way. It’s not my favorite aesthetic personally but for what the product is going for, I get it lol. Thanks for the comments, I’m glad you found the video helpful! Let me know if you have any other questions on Chessnut products or otherwise.
