Hi Jose. I have a 2017 C300 convertible equipped with 9g tronic transmission. They told me that I just need 5 liters of transmission fluid since the pan will drop 4 liters and the torque converter drops only 500 ml, is that correct?
Hello Repair Jose this is a very well put together video. I was wondering do you do repairs/maintenance for customers? I have a 2007 Crv, if possible can you help?
I'm reviewing this tutorial to assist with my parent's S550. What a RIDICULOUSLY COMPLEX routine just to check a battery!!! How in the world do you people think Mercedes builds a good car??? No wonder the depreciation is horrendous on these things!!
Thank you so much for your comment. I actually like the engineering of it. Many cars now have the battery in the trunk from different brands. It’s worst when is under the seat, that is really bad. When you have to change the battery under the hood, in most cases it’s a dirty job. Not if it’s in the trunk. They do depreciate super fast. But it’s good for people like me that get them used and do our own maintenance. Good luck with your parents car. Let me know if you need any more help with it.
I can only speak to the Nissan Titan, but I believe they only got the 9-Speed Jatco from 2020-2024. Prior to that, there was a 7-speed Aisin transmission, not sure if the maintenance procedure would be the same.
Thank you so much for your comment. Jatco is actually licensed for production of the Mercedes 9G-Tronic transmission for some of their Nissan and Infinity vehicles
jose, i ordered these as preventative maintenance for a 2015 ml63. well, when i went to install them, i discovered that the oem harness connectors for cam shaft position sensors were already full of oil. i sprayed connectors and harnesses with contact cleaner, allowed to dry, before i installed the sacrificial harnesses. thank you much for creating this video. hopefully, i averted any long-term damage.
@@josecitomarin yes. i watched part one and i ordered and installed the eight sacrificial harnesses for solenoids and camshaft. now, i'm ordering four solenoids and four camshaft position sensors. thank you much!
@@josecitomarin I have a beautiful 2016 S-550 Iove the way how you explain every way of this car you have a video on put the 3D speakers abd pulling the panel ,nice 👍
loved this video. some solid life lessons there ! most people seem to have forgotten how to look after there things now. i say this and i am 32, but even i am my time i have seen a decline. I just brought my partner the same car, so this video was super helpful, thanks.
Well done!! I have a 2007 CRV as well, with 172k miles. Your engine looks clean, and Patty did a great job. No yelling, etc and she's not afraid to get dirty, etc.I haven't done my rear diff or transmission fluid, but I'll do it in the future, instead of paying someone. These CRV's last forever if well maintained and are great to drive.
Thank you for making this video for all of us. My wife's 2015 S550 just started acting up. We purchased it off lease at a small dealer in Santa Monica, CA, and I usually do the oil changes and brakes, but recently it had coils go out. First #7, then #8. With 67k miles, I figured it was time for plugs. I only broke one stubborn coil (#3), but moved #1 to #3 so when it arrived the next day it would be easy to install. I do notice some weeping of oil around the magnets - not the sensors, and have ordered the sacrificial harnesses. I have also found and ordered O-rings for the magnets, and an inch-pound torque wrench - since I have a 1/2" drive ft/lb wrench only. So... I'm only planning to change the cam magnets, and then I will clean up the front head cam covers with brake-clean and keep an eye on everything. It's possible the cam covers are weeping oil too, and I have found and ordered a small tube of the grey Permatex silicone liquid gasket for about $8. The only thing I do not have are the 12 replacement bolts for the magnets. Do you know what the part number is for those bolts? That was a long explanation, but my reason is that taking the 4 metal intake tubes off is just beyond what I've done on this car. I need all the moral support that I can get to do this. I just know those tubes are going to be stuck like glue on the bottom side, but I watched you to the end and I promise I will grab each tube and wiggle, pull, wiggle, wobble, pull some more, get coffee, and repeat until they come loose! Oh my gosh, what have I gotten myself into now?
Thank you so much for your comment. If you don’t know where the leak is coming from exactly, the magnets are a good start. Definitely do it your self, it only take some patience but it’s easy to do it. Unfortunately I don’t have the part number for the bolts I just went and got it from the dealer. The magnets should come with o-rings make sure you don’t double up on it. Let me know if you ran into issues while doing the job. You got this!
@@josecitomarin Ok, I'm going to do this. I will start with brakleen and give it a week or two to see where the oil is coming from. So far, the inside of all the harnesses are dry, mainly there is oil on the right cover, and from underneath, the alternator is very wet. Charging voltage is fine (so far), but keeping an eye on that too. Once I've solved the leak, I will get the alternator cleaned up. I want to work smart, not hard, and do what's easy first. I know about 4 years ago (under a now expired extended warrantee) there was some work done to either the magnets, sensors or both. I'll keep posting updates over the coming weeks as I do this. My (other) car is a 2007 GL450 (which is currently completely dry on the front top) after 170,000 miles. I just came across another video showing leaks on the rear of that engine from the oil separator and cam caps. I don't notice any oil burning smell, but I will check it later today with my trusty mirror-on-a-stick. You are certainly a blessing. And to everyone reading: Repair Jose is AWESOME!!!
Hey man just a heads up the w221 12/13’ have the M278. I know you put 2014-2017 . But don’t forget about us man 😂 it’s a great engine I will upgrade but I won’t go to a 223, only a 2017 222
I’m surprised you’re allowed to work on your vehicle at your condo parkade , not generally allowed by condo rules because then you have every vehicle being fixed , on ramps , fluid spills everywhere
Thanks for a great video. I think you are losing vacuum since the conical adapter is not not airtight with the coolant bottle. Also, as you vacuum once you have filled with distilled water , do you see water coming out of the waste bucket?
Hi Jose I ordered the tweeters, your video and clear instructions inspired me. One question, for the little box where did you place so it won't rattle?
@@lucasgalarraga8 I remember now. I didn’t really attach it to anything. They are just behind the wires. But you can put some Velcro on it. Mine don’t ruttle
Update. Sprayed crc, the sound and feel changed considerably. Is this possible? Engine seems to have throaty exhaust, faster Acceleration, and a slight rumble inside the cab
Thank you so much for your comments Troy. I was going to suggest to spray first. I’m glad you did. It could be that you had some carbon build up. Did they say if you have a misfire and which cylinder?
Thank you so much for your comment. That would really depend. At operating temperature they are practically the same. But in cold weather 0w will be better for your engine than the 5w. 0w flows much better in cold temperatures. At start ups the engine is cold as it is. In the winter in New Jersey the start ups are much colder.
Hey Jose, I bought a 2014 s550 with 120k miles, just got it back from the mechanic. they said it will start making a knocking sound eventually and will cost 10k dollars to fix, said it has internal issues. can they tell that all of that is going to happen just by hooking up their tester? ty
Thank you so much for your comment. One damage I know that costs 10k is the main harness replacement. That is if they found oil on the computer side. If they hear a knocking maybe they found something pulling out a spark plug. The tester won’t tell you what is going to happen. It will read codes if the car has any. It’s a good idea to have a tester at home. Do you feel anything while driving?
@@josecitomarin Hi thanks for responding, no problems during driving. the car drives perfect.thats why I couldnt understand how they know the engine is going to go bad
@@Miamiflow885 wow. A lot of money for a hose. See if they’ll tell you what they found. If not you are going to have to check your wires and take a spark plug out and see what you find in there.
Thanks for the video. 1. Does This vehicle have a second coolant tank for an intercooler / turbo? 2. My Amg does not get to temp without the coolant tank cap on. Any experiences with that? I cannot extra burp the system because of that and get sloshing when I brake.
Thank you so much for your comment. The intercooler coolant tank is under the middle cover. To be able to get the air out, you have to vacuum the system. Check out my other video on the intercooler flush
Thanks for this video. So once i figured out where to put coolant and what they looked like, I was glad to know there were two!!! 1st doing this. This video was a big help!!!! Now if you can show me how to add air in my tire....😂🤦🏾♀️
Thank you for the video good sir. Do you happen to have any tips for clicking noises coming from the sunroof while its closed? I was able to pinpoint behind the drivers seat and it goes away when I open the sunroof entirely and close it back down. I just recently the car from the dealership as a CPO. Its a W222 2019 S450. Thank you!
Thank you for the amazing video.. I’ll do this on my w222 S63 AMG… Can I say.. maybe move up the two front seats and stand in the rear footwell.. seat ventilators aren’t cheap to replace
Thank you so much for your comment. You are correct. But I also have ventilators in the back. Maybe just put something in top of the seat to protect it. Nothing happened though
If you got a lot of codes, you probably got oil on the computer and that is why they have to replace it. But double check. Unplug the computer harness and check if there is any oil. If you don’t have any codes then just replace solenoids and position sensors. Also install pig tails
Do we only need to replace these or are there a lot more parts to replace? Do we need to replace the solenoids too? Are these extensions just so that the damage will hit these extensions which are cheap to replace?
Thank you so much for your comment. If your wires are wet. Change the solenoids and position sensors as well. The pig tails are supposed to hold the oil back for a little bit of time before it gets to your main harness. So if they get wet, change the solenoid or position sensor again
Thank you so much for your comment. Which reservoir are you having to refill? Have you checked the reservoirs them selves? If you can’t find anything from the top, you have to take the covers off the bottom and look around. Maybe the turbo lines have leak
@@josecitomarin it’s the reservoir to the left of the engine but sometimes having to refill the middle one once in awhile, not sure if that’s normal but as of late the bigger one I’m having to refill after each drive now, can’t seem to find any leaks at the moment, it could be drying up fast
@@juniordace1347 you definitely have a leak in the high temperature system. You have to look under the car. It’s probably leaking in the covers that is why you don’t see it.
@@josecitomarin 2015 s550. I looked at one and what stood out to me the most was a rather noticeable ticking/ light rattling coming from the v8. As I’m not familiar with Benz and the m157 i wasn’t sure if this is Normal for Benz. I expected the engine to be very quiet and rather still while running. I also believe that it definitely had two bad motor mounts. The car did ride well however its mileage and age did show a little Vin # WDDUG8CB5FA106476
@@mrbeatty13able yeah there is a little ruttle. Try to go for the M278 and if you can get a 2017. The last of its generation. And not too high in mileage. Also look at lastvin.com for all the features.
Thank you so much for your comment. If you have a 7speed transmission you should have a service tube that you can use to add oil if needed. If you have a 9speed there is no service or dipstick. You definitely need to change your transmission fluid. You have to change the bottom tray. Check out my transmission service video.
