If you've got helmets piling up or a bunch of cosplays lying around and you want to show them off, in this video I have a great helmet wall mount solution you can make yourself cheap and easy for only $1.98 each!

I make a lot of helmets and I needed somewhere to store them/hang them up to show them off because they were just taking up a ton of room in my workshop and getting beat up from being moved from one surface to another! I looked at what it would cost to buy some helmet wall mounts for them and I when I saw that they were at least $20 each the cost added up too quickly for how many helmets I had. So I set out to make my own, having worked with PVC pipe before to make bows and swords and other cosplay props I thought that would be a great way to go and came up with this awesome DIY helmet stand design and it worked perfectly!! I recently made a bunch more helmets and needed some more stands so I thought this would be the perfect time to share how I did it with you so you can make some of your own!!! :)
I hope this is helpful for you and please tag me if you use this and make some of your own I would love to see how it turned out for you!! :)
I have used this for mostly foam helmets but I bet you could use it for motorcycle or other helmets as well you may just need to increase the size of PVC pipe you use and increase the mount length a little to compensate for the weight.
Enjoy and Cosplay On, My Friend!!

Did you end up doing this? I'm worried about the weight. Motorcycle helmets weigh quite a bit more than cosplay ones and I don't want to come home with helmets scattered around on the floor

Now I have something I can use my floor mats for. I bought them early on and quickly discovered you tend to get what you pay for with foam. Great post!

Amen! I need to make one for my dragon helm, and it'll also work for my future Maleficent headpiece and Athena helm. And the Valkyrie helm I want to make but have no use for. And the plastic knight's helm that I bought for a Joan of Arc armor build that got trashed.

You can also use the flame on a gas stove or other heat sources. Also you can get a heat gun at Harbor Freight for really cheap. :)

Hi, great video. I am thinking of using this method for motorcycle helmets. They are about 4 pounds. Will this hold? Thanks in advance
@CosplayApprentice
@CosplayApprentice Год назад
Yeah, they are pretty sturdy. I only used 1/2”pvc pipe but for heavier items you could easily use 3/4” or even go up to 1” pvc pipe to make sure. Definitely way cheaper than motorcycle helmet holders online, I couldn’t believe how much they were :/

@CosplayApprentice

For most foam a hair dryer is not hot enough to get a good shape in foam. I have links to a good prices heat gun on Amazon that works well if you are interested I can send you the link. :)

Can you mount without the use of nails? Double sided tape?
@CosplayApprentice

I think it would depend on how heavy the helmet is going on it :)

Can you rotate the helmet to the side on this mount?
@CosplayApprentice
@CosplayApprentice 2 года назад
Yes, is should be able to sit sideways on the mount just fine, you can make the upright on the mount as tall as you need to to make it work. :)

Why not use a 90 degree fitting instead of bending the pipe?
@CosplayApprentice
@CosplayApprentice Год назад
You could totally do that if you'd like. I was just trying to make mine look like something other than PVC pipe so I avoided the elbow connector because it is hard to disguise :)
@warlok9
@warlok9 2 года назад
Really cool, but why not jut use an elbow instead of heating and bending? Fittings and PVC glue are cheap and the result would be stronger and more aesthetic.
@CosplayApprentice
@CosplayApprentice 2 года назад
You could totally do that as well! :). Not sure why I didn't use fittings other than I think maybe I wanted to disguise it a bit more as metal or something and often pipe fitting are a tell-tell PVC pipe thing, so it was really probably just more of the aesthetic that I was going for. Great idea though on the fittings :)
