As someone who’s from the same county as Tyler, it’s the talk of the year when someone even graduates college that’s not UPike so to be a successful musician is freakin huge. Plus he’s also higher’n a hound dog jumps to catch a treed coon
@@RyderOnYT it’s not even that. No matter how used to performing you are, it’s an unexplainable feeling playing in front of just 500 people. Imagine 5,000
Every Professional Artist does that, as to not steal the Spotlight. Childers is good at what he does, but, he is far far far from out doing Chris Stapleton. It was nice for Chris to take the stage with Childers. It gives Tyler more recognition. If Tyler stays as true to his heart and music as Chris is, he may reach Chris's level at some point in his life, it just isn't there yet.
Chris has to be respectful of Tyler adding his voice into his song, I’d say the exact opposite happened, and Chris refrained from having too much input because his voice would totally steal the show.
I never realized how popular he was until I tried to get a ticket to his show. Sold out in 10 minutes. He doesn't have a bad song on any of his albums in my opinion.
@@AudibleVisibIe Even to an outsider this song can have a lot of meaning. But for the people from the place where Tyler and Chris came from, this song has layers upon layers of meaning. Now imagine you’re 22 years old with a truck full of your buddies, drunk after the funeral of your best friend, it’s it’s 1am and you’re tearing down 23 headed to Virgie for no good reason but you’re all screaming this song at the top of your lungs the whole way there. Gives it a lot more meaning than just being a catchy tune.
First song of Tyler's I ever heard. Had a buddy send it to me. He said it reminded him of my ma who passed from cancer. Ma had seven sons and that was never enough for her. She took in all our friends too.
If Chris Stapleton and Tyler Childers become a duo, I’m going to be a very happy man. Two incredible artists with songs that speak about life and all of the happiness/ bullshit that comes along with it.
I love both and seen this live, I think their voices are two very different styles and although they sound okay here you can tell Chris is holding it back as to not clash too much with Tyler.
If there's a god they might be a Kentuckian. We have the best voices, a gorgeous state, our booze and food is delicious and we grow great weed. Our legislature and senators suck, but, goddammit, we are good folks.
@@klyde171 100% agree. Although Chris has written lots of other great songs as well. They can both certainly write. I think I also personally prefer Tyler live vs album stuff. He's got some powerful stuff, and even if you're not a huge fan of country music, his songs can make nearly anyone give them another listen.
This song was made for me, my granny that raised me and all my rowdy friends. She seen no wrong in anyone. She was my world . She was 100 when she passed and although she was with us that long my heart still breaks
Remind me of the exact same thing. I lived with my grandma and us boys were rowdy too but she loved us all the same. Just fuckin cried my eyes out. Lost my grandma at 91 on 5/18/23. Miss her tremendously
Tyler is a quiet man standing with these giants playing his songs and having a blast. He might not be a regular on CMT, but they know he is there and the crowds that come out to listen to him knows who he is. He is not a stranger in the country/folk music circle. Love his down to earth songs....
God knows what this song means to Tyler, bless his heart. There's a live version when he still has long hair, his smaller band leaves the stage and just Tyler and his guitar and by the end of this song he's standing there crying on stage alone....OMG! I'm telling you, it gets no more real and raw and heart and soul as this adorable young man from the hills of Kentucky.
Here's the story: his best friend in HS was Cody. Cody's grandmother loved and paid attention to his friends. When she passed, Tyler made sure to be there to "lay to rest this mountain beauty."
God bless the mothers, grandmothers, step moms/grandmas, aunts and more who love their boys (and girls) purely and unconditionally as captured here. Such a beautiful song.❤
Tyler had finished his set. And then before Dwight Yoakam started his set, Chris and Tyler came on and did this acoustic version of Follow You To Virgie. I had never heard it live before, I was almost in tears. What a memorable night!
Shew. When he nodded his head during the modified chorus. Literally made my eyes water. I've known Tyler since middle school and this version got to me lol
The voice Tyler is one of a kind. I can listen to him all day over and over. God be with you on your travels and dont ever stop performing for all us good folks that know your one of the greatest singers of all times. Thank you for all you do. God Bless you .
Wow!!!!!! Lost for words, great song. What a talent this kid is. That's saying something standing next to Chris. Don't look surprised that people love your music. Cheers
Love this ❤ two of the best that’s come outta these hills in a minute two great Eastern KY musicians playing together singing bout Virgie KY , they’ve stayed true to themselves n proud to be from here
I really appreciate this thanks,I do this once in a while to no how my fans feel about me thanks for your love and support it really means a lot to me and how long have you been my my fans I we like to hear from you.
It's, uh, Follow You to Virgie Back before these calloused hands and all this work We used to sit up at the flats Acting like we'd live forever Getting high and skipping class Yeah, I reckon we were heathens But in her eyes, we were saints Now you're calling all the boys home 'Cause heaven's angels carried her away So, I will follow you to Virgie Although it hurts me so To lay to rest this mountain beauty That the Lord's called home And I can't see her up in glory I can see her through the pines Back when all us boys were tryin' To make sense of all these strings I can see her in the corner Singing along to all our crazy dreams So, I will follow you to Virgie Although it hurts me so To lay to rest this mountain beauty That the Lord's called home And I can see her up in glory I can see her through the pines And I will follow you to Virgie 'Cause that's what us boys are for To help you out when you get weary And you can't go no more Can't you see her up there, Cody? I can see her through the pines Saying boys be good
@@chantellecole2240 lol I think the song is originally made by Dwight Yokam? I’m not sure why else he woulda said that lmao. I know he’s played with Yokam on multiple occasions
Thanks for posting this Ethan. Growing up our neighbor was like another grandmother to me. She was always my biggest fan with whatever I did. I can still hear her voice "Oh Michael, that is WONDERFUL" She was such a cultured woman, lived in Manhattan for years and worked at the Museum of Natural History and traveled all over. She taught me how to do the NY Times crossword puzzle, which she did everyday until she passed. I remember telling her about a trip to Europe I was going on and she was so exited for me because of all the wonderous things I would see outside of our small town. I never did get to show her the pictures. I live far away now and wasn't home when she passed. Her family didn't do any type of service for her, which was such a shame. She deserved more after the life she lived. This song always makes me think of her and helps me remember her. She was my Virgie. Thanks for writing this Tyler about the wonderful woman in your life and for all of us men that have been fortunate to have wonderful women in our own lives.
Virgie is a town in Kentucky where they laid "to rest this mountain beauty." She was Cody's grandmother, his best friend, and paid a lot of attention to Tyler.
Two amazingly talented musicians with distinct voices. Love to hear them both and together even better. That last part made me laugh like hell though 🤣
I basically raised my grandsons. They and their friends hung out at my house. I am 79, Stage 4 lung cancer, and my grandson sent me this link and asked that I listen to the words. I guess he loves me and remembers. What a gift at my life's end
@@annajesse2062 How beautiful, you are a blessing on this earth. you did so much for your grandson that he will always hold dear, he must love you very much. God bless you
Different premise to the title but This is my favorite song of his and to hear Chris Stapleton sing it with him makes it all the more special! My husband and I met in the Spring of 89" in Ashland, Va. He followed me to Virgie two weeks later and proposed. Three months to the day we met, we got married! Thirty three years,, two grown sons, 7 grandchildren and a daughter n law later; we're still together! ❤️
Congratulations! That's awesome! My husband and I have the longest marriage between our two immediate families! After living away from Va for over 30 years, we moved back to take care of his parents. His Mom, step dad (whom lives in Louisa Co & his Dad whom lives in Quinton. Our sons, daughter n law and two grandchildren live in SC. I don't like it here because I miss our sons and grandchildren. I don't know anyone here.
@@kimberlygrimm7007 Wow. Such a small world. I knew a guy who lived in Louisa (Bumpass). My inlaws lived in Goochland for a while, and most of my family is still in the Richmond area. One son is in Hanover, and the other is in Pensacola, FL, so I understand missing the grandkids! We live at the beach, so we're not too far from our hometown. Congratulations on your 33 years!
