Tobias Harris is probably the least criticized player that should be criticized. Dude makes very little impact for what he costs. He's not a terrible player but gets paid like an all star just like a lot of overpaid players.
It's not like Joel's injury woes is some huge surprise. He fell to third in his own draft because there were concerns he'd never materialize into a viable NBA player.
" Embiid has, by far, the highest ceiling of any player in the last 10 years. He can do everything. A potential MVP. His risk is dangerously high. You're drafting 1 of 2 players, Hakeem Olajuwon or Sam Bowie." Anonymous NBA scout before the draft.
the best thing Philadelphia has is Maxey. As a Knicks fan, I can say that Embiid is like Porzingis was for us, very special, unique and when healthy could drag a poorly built Knicks team high in the standings. We thought he was our God, until his ACL tore. Our biggest blessing was letting him leave. Imagine the purgatory we would be in if we kept and built around him. Philly, you guys are soooo blessed that Maxey fell in your hands, he is your guy! Embiid shouldn’t be a priority
To be entirely fair, any player can suffer a catastrophic injury, even a smaller guy. Also, Porzingis is staying on the floor longer than he has in the earlier parts of his career. Impossible as a main guy, but great to have as an all-star caliber roleplayer, like what he is on the Celtics now.
Maxey was horrible without Embiid all season and in this series too (28 FG%). Nowhere near good enough to build around. He's only a scorer and sucks at everything else.
@@FruitAndVeg-tj5et Guys that can be a lone starplayer and still remain efficient are rare. Embiid is basically a cheatcode, being 7 ft, 280 lbs and extremely skilled with his footwork, shooting and touch. Now that his passing game is unlocked by a better system under Nick Nurse, this makes Maxey understandably better too, always being one pass out and shooting open threes or attacking a closeout with lightning speed. I don't know what you have against Maxey, but considering he is young, still improving and is playing heavy minutes and delivering on several occasions in crunch time, I think they basically struck gold with him. Going off this random stat while being a lone star on the team is not exactly representative of how good he is under a normal load and efficiency. And ofcourse everything will suffer because of the massively increased defensive coverage that will be on him. There might be less than 10 guys in the NBA that can operate in a similar situation and still remain effective.
@@pinobluevogel6458 I don't have anything against Maxey. Maxey is a good player but he's only good at scoring. Hes bad at everything else and his effeciency is very poor without Embiid next to him. So yeah hes not good enough to build around and the Sixers would look like the LaVine Bulls if they built around him or maybe the Beal Wizards at best.
It is incredible how everything went wrong during the process. The embiid injuries, the fultz pick, pay Harris over butler, the Ben Simmons saga, harden doing harden things...(We had a very competitive year during the 2019) As a sixers fan I hope that morey will have the opportunity to make the roster competitive again.... hoping embiid will still stay with us at the beginning of next season
Then you don’t understand the process was never completed. It ended when hinkie was forced out and the 6ers were told to use the assets. So stop the process chatter. Okc got to finish their process, being the got better draft picks as well as being in a smaller market with less expectations
The difference between the Thunder and the Sixers is that for OKC, they actually went through the entire process and were extremely smart with their draft capital and future assets, while the Sixers hit on Embiid (and in a way hit on Ben Simmons too, at first) very early in this process and started trying for championships way early. A bit of this is luck for sure on the Thunder side, but the succes of it also relies on managing the process well. Overpaying someone like Harris, while letting a very competative guy go in Butler is a mistake that is on the front office, as is treating Harden badly enough so he wouldn't stay. I wouldn't be surprised if Embiid looks out for better pastures, to a franchise that at least manages their assets really well.
They payed Tobi because of Ben. It wasn’t over Tobi it was over ben. Then knew they could only have one. Ben Simmons who was a young all star or Jimmy who is older then him. Those chose Ben which yk how that turned out. And gave the rest of the money to Tobi because they had to spend it
@@connorfarley3569 I think that is a more accurate explanation. Tobias had a larger role when he got that bag. He was a legit 20 Ppg scorer for quite a while, to supplement the team.
The probability of having Embiid healthy and dominating in the playoffs are slim to none at this point. The most rational thing to do would be trading him; they could get a lot of assets trading him right now and just build around Maxey However I can't see a single franchise in this situation with balls big enough to really pull the trigger
Championship odds or not, having a guy like Embiid on a team is going to bring fans into your arena. We are talking about a guy that when healthy, can play like an MVP in the league. I don't like his playstyle, but I don't think there will be many teams that won't be at least tempted to gamble on him if they got the chance.
That Embiid contract is gonna look terrible in two years when he’s in a wheel chair. I would just trade him now at peak value, too many damn leg injuries. I don’t trust his legs. Build around Maxey.
I think that the time to move Embiid was two years ago. I don't see any teams giving up equal value for Embiid in assets, and this team is still only an All-Star wing away from being an ECF contender. Whether that's a Paul George or a LeBron James or whatever. Not a Sixers "fan" btw. Just someone who likes the NBA.
Just trade Embiid at this point because he is getting older and is injury prone. Superstars are not going to Philly in my opinion. Just start over and blow it up
Ok you trade embiid, tank for 5 years and hope to get a generational? You got an mvp player - trading him and blowing it up is a worse option than do your best at making him win
@@animaroku walking the dog for 5 years till he cant walk is arguably the worst option. It all depends on if you think he can win it all. Its not looking good.
Add on that Embiid has a tendency to wilt in the playoffs ... will another team trade 1st round picks for his maybe 3-5 more prime years is the question
NBA projected cap = 141m Sixers contracts - Embiid (51.5m) - #16 pick (4m) - RC4 (2m) - Maxey's cap hold (13m) - Oubre's cap hold (2m) - Payne's cap hold (2m) - 6 incomplete roster charges (6m) cap holds of all others are renounced, the Sixers should have about 60m in cap space (role player route using cap space) Drummond - 10m Malik Monk - 20m Obi Toppin - 16m Hield/Melton - 8m 1yr (prove it deal) Batum - 6m (cap hold signings) Oubre - 15m Payne - 5m Maxey - MAX CONTRACT starting lineup: Maxey Monk Oubre Toppin Embiid bench: Payne Hield/Melton RC4 Batum Drummond and we still have the MLE of around 7-13m to add another wing player 🤌🏻
And your star player stays hurt and stays choking the the playoffs dude didn't do anything in that 4th quarter in game 6 what a joke embid free throw merchant is last year in a elimination game he had 13 points then proceeded to blame his team lol dude stays hurt and his injuries are only getting worse and he's going backwards in the playoffs not forward dude the first round you went out in the first fking round and yall bragging abought next year absolute clown fanbase
You would be very lucky to get both Monk and Toppin, I think both are quite valuable assets around the league. I'm not saying they wouldn't want to join the team, considering this team is probably a contender, it is just that they might be snatched up by other teams.
He's quite a reliable guy to have around. He played some solid minutes in the rotation and while nothing he does is truly amazing, his consistancy and the high defensive floor he brings is worth a lot to any team.
If Embiid lose 20-25 pounds it would do wonders to his body. Tim Duncan did so late in his career and manage to lengthen his career despite his knee and ankle injuries. If Embiid is healthy Sixers will be fine.
@@nsd_respect Imagine thinking Demar Defrozen is better than Klay Thompson lmao. Don’t even care if Klay has been in a slump, they are not cut from the same cloth at all.
I’ve seen talking heads on tv say how bright the future is for Philly, and while Maxey took a star turn and forms a dynamic duo with Embiid, after the Maxey extension they only have $50M to fill like 8 roster spots. And given that ok players can commmand $10-15M a year on the open market, it’s hard to say they’ll get a better group of support players than they had this year.
I don't think these players are really comparable. Yes, Giannis has had some injury issues of his own, but this is the first year he actually fully misses a playoff run. Usually he bounces back from whatever it is (broken leg, fractured neck, decapitated limb) quite quickly.
Imagine a world where Klay joins a contender on a 4 year deal and they actually get 2 rings… that would be crazy. It’s a 0% chance, but almost everything is a 0% chance.
@@chrisarends8308 Him not being healthy come playoff time is one of the reasons why he can't be the number one guy. In 6 out of 7 postseasons of his career, Embiid has been injured. The one time he wasn't injured, he got swept in the 1st round. Also, number one guy can't drop his teammates under the bus like he did to Ben Simmons and after 2023 game 7.
i think the new CBA will play a big part in this offseason for alot of teams. Free agency may not be the best this offseason but player movement via the trade market could be alot busier than usual this summer
I think there are a lot of options in free agency to put a good team around Embiid and Maxey without adding the third star. Plus, the 76ers do have a few picks they can trade, so they can add players via trade without sending any salary out.
Magic creating enough cap room for a max guy like PG would be tough. They'd have to drop Mo, Ingles, Goga, & Houston, and give up on Fultz/Harris. That's a lot of guys who were contributors to them this year. Not sure I see them signing anyone over about $30m.
@@mattf3873 Will the Magic drop Isaac? I'd love OKC to offer him a contract the second they do, I just don't think they will. Fultz/Harris and other cap holds dropping, still keeps them at $117 ($187.5m allocated), or about $24m cap space. You'd still have to drop the 4 guys I mentioned to make enough cap space for a max guy like PG. The Magic could get up to $58m cap, but they'd have to cut everyone without a guaranteed contract, trade both draft picks ($5.5-6m in salaries), and I don't see them doing that.
That's what I've been saying. Embiid MVP flopping and harming other players skills are gonna drop considerably within 2 years. The 6ers fucked up massively by not keeping Butler and now I just don't see them competing for even the conference finals. Might as well try to rebuild again. The process was the friends Embiid injured along the way.
Paul George should get what jrue holiday got. 4 years 135 million . Any team offering more than that will guarantee their team will never make it pass the conference finals
They should trade Joel and build around maxey with the 2019 Knicks model. Use the cap space to sign solid vets that you can trade for more assets while maintaining flexibility.
I think they should consider taking a bit of a gamble on a young guy somewhere in the league and hope he can step up in the same way Maxey did for them. A guy like Quickley would be great, although he has a bit of overlap in skills, they actually need a big wing that can play the 3/4 spot, that is a good 2 way player and 2nd option in scoring / playmaking. Those guys are coveted around the league and not exactly laying around in free agency. The closest player to this is actually Paul George, but considering his age and how much he would cost, that is probably a bridge too far.
Lebron and Embiid deserve each other. I would love to see them on the same team, taking passive aggressive digs at each other, and blaming each other when they still don't make it out of the second round. :D Realistically, Lebron doesn't care about winning anymore. He just acts like he does so he can stat pad, and have scape goats around him. He has everything he wants in LA, and can get the max he wants. They will bring in Bronny by hook or by crook, and he can go out on his own terms, barring a serious injury or steroid scandal. :D
It's over. "The process" has died a slow, agonizing, painful ten year death. Markelle Fultz, Ben Simmons, James Harden and Tobias Harris all contributed to its horrendous demise. R.I.P.
if they do get rid of everyone, and have to be bad cause there are no good or worthy free agents, for at least this year (maybe next year, don't know who's available going forward)....can the class repeat after me, "The Process II, Electric Boogaloo".....good, i know you could now here is where i stand, not a 76ers fan, not even a Philadelphia (the city) fan, not an Embid fan (used to like him, that is gone), do believe Sam Hinke got screwed, like Nick Nurse, enjoyed Colangelo scandal, enjoyed Brand era disasters, agree with Harden trade.....so from that position, agree this is the right plan (especially if they have or acquire some young players/picks), but even if not, good if it takes 1 year, fine if it takes upto 3, but this time, they have to come out the other end with something
No no, yo max, Maxie. spend the rest of the money you not paying Harris grab clay, and get another bid to help rebound, and run (Jaxon Hayes). talk Kelly into staying. then whatever else you can find at the four
They should definitely try to keep Oubre jr., Lowry, and Batum Either PG or LeBron would be dream scenearios Just don't sign Klay Thompson, too expensive for a shooter DeRozen if you can get him for 30M per year, anything above that isn't worth considering his poor 3pt shootings
They will be fine mad cap space and picks they can trade but who wants to go there with a constantly injured embid who’s injury prone. Not to mention never even made it to the finals
Big 3 does not work! try getting hield, batum and oubre on good deals if possible, fill the roster with players like caruso or bruce brown, and thats a great team.
I just want to say: The Process ends with Embiid. The Process ends when all the tanking picks leave the team. Fultz gone, Simmons gone, when Embiid leaves or retires, then the Process is officially over
philly did the process to stop being mid and they just ended up right back to being mid. embarassment. i think klay would rather go to Orlando, a young team with a lot more hunger and immediate potential than a sixers team that has proven at this point what their ceiling is (second round exit)
what if the sixers traded him to cleveland for allen and mobely? then what if cleveland traded darius garland for vanfleet. cleveland could be really scary in that situation
