This is so often abused by those who want to do nothing more than virtue signal. I had a friend that I knew was struggling with paying heating bills and kept her thermostat set on 55 degrees in the winter. She dressed warmly at home after work and slept under an electric blanket to stay warm. I knew she would not accept money from me so I sent her a Christmas card with a $100 bill enclosed without a signature, just a printed message sending a blessing. I didn’t want her to recognize my handwriting. I even mailed it from another town so the postmark wouldn’t be a clue. Let not the left hand know what the right hand is doing 🙏🏻

I live on a disability check and once a month I do get a food box from the VA I take what I need out of it and then set it up for my neighbors to get what they need after a few days if there's anything left I carry that down to the blessing box in our neighborhood in my mind the best part of a blessing is being able to share it

I have stolen food. 😥 i had lost my job and was on the verge of being homeless. Had just started a new job and had 2 week waiting period for a paycheck and had absolutely no food at all. After work i went to Walmart deli and got some small thing of popcorn chicken and ate it while i pretended to shop. I have never felt so low in all my life. I kept the tags and thru the small tubs in the trash. When i got my first check i went to the manager fully expecting to be arrested but also paying my tab and being completely humiliated. The manager looked at me in disbelief, left the office for a minute and came back with a few pounds of cheese and lunch meat and wished me well. I started crying and thanked him. This was years ago but prompted me to donate time at my local food bank because im not financial able to donate but i can donate my time and i absolutely do. Its heartbreaking that people would steal from a food bank. Walmart is one thing but a food bank??? Omg 😭💔

Decades ago our pastor asked me to vet people asking for money. One person said they had lost their job and they supported a whole house full of children and disabled people and they needed money. I told them we didn't give out cash but that we could help them out with food and bring it to them, and that my husband and I would hire him to do delivery at what was a good rate for the time. He said he couldn't walk either, and didn't have a way to get there. So I said we'll come and get you. He said no he just take food, but he was going to have to buy it himself because he could only eat organic. To that I said, how wonderful because I have a large garden with organic food I'll bring you some. He hung up.

My grandma used to say, “if you spend all your money on the purse, you have no money to put into the purse”❤

My grandson the other day was at a fast food restaurant eating on the way in he seen a homeless man out side he asked his parents if he could have some money he bought food for that man and give him $10 and told him they need to pray 🙏 my grandson is only 9 years old ❤ I just thought everyone might enjoy this comet 😊

We volunteer at a food bank. We see seniors barely surviving. Very sad.

Patara my feeling is we don't have time to be arguing with fools these days. Once I sense dark or closed energy, I just step away. I have stepped away from quite a few people over the years and I just keep moving on my own path and leave them to theirs. We are in biblical times and we have a lot of work to do to prepare, not just food and supplies. Thanks for being a light.

I was looking at videos about the wildfires in the Texas Panhandle. The comments were unbelievable. Apparently some people think we deserve it because of our Governor's efforts to close the border. The people in Fritch and Canadian who lost everything do not deserve this vitriol. Several thought we should rake the prairie. There are a lot of big things in Texas, but we do not have any rakes big enough to rake over a million acres. What happened to human beings?

I know of a woman here that is married,he makes fairly good money, and she is on food stamps and medicaid based on lies. She also goes to our only food bank and has tried to get me and my daughter to go as well. I was so proud of my daughter! She has a special needs daughter and can't work! She gets food stamps because she can't work but she told this woman that she was being provided for and that food was needed for people getting no help!!! But ya know, she will stand before God just like the rest of us!!!

Back in 2005 my son was working part time at a grocery store in San Diego. He would tell us of white foreign people buying groceries with food stamps and loading up their expensive vehicles. If it happened back then you can be assured it's happening BIG TIME now!

WOW!! I live on disability and I live alone. Paycheck to paycheck. And it's getting hard to buy food. I couldn't take food now unless I need it. I know what it's like to struggle, even when my boys were growing up. I didn't know what I was going to feed them sometimes. If people are doing that & if people are encouraging it, it's all gonna come back on them. God don't like ugly!

The best way I know how to give is to give DIRECTLY to needy families, the elderly, and I hand small " blessing bags" of nonperishable food to the homeless sitting outside local stores. ❤

I've always suspicioned that people would steal from the blessing boxes. That's just the day we're living in....unfortunately. But my late grandfather use to say......"we still give in good faith, and let the good Lord take care of the rest"..........

I am going to be 79 on the 8th of March. My husband is 82. We are on a fixed income, but are still blessed enough to give to the less fortunate, when we can. I simply cannot understand how people can steal food from those who need it most. I couldn’t live with myself. Thank you, Patara for taking about things that truly matter. ❤

Sad story. I called my elderly neighbor to see if she ate beef. She said “when I can afford it”. So, I gathered a large bag of beef and took it to her. After unloading the beef into her freezer, she declared that she and her friend were on their way to shop at her favorite consignment store. My knees almost gave out. Let me just say, elderly or not, make good choices as to whom you give to. Just because they are older, doesn’t mean they make great choices. This experience will not discourage me from helping where I can, but I will be smarter about how I do it.

I watched a gal who had a dream about being left behind after Jesus came back because she hadn’t forgiven one of her parents. She was visibly upset and crying. One of the most disturbing details was what she saw happening here on earth immediately after those who belong to Christ went with Him. She said she saw every wicked, gross, perversion come out in the open. Adults with children in inappropriate relationships (caused the little ones to stumble), pornography on every thread on peoples phones, etc… she said people were relieved that the Holy Spirit/the Restrainer was finally gone so there was no one to tell them that what they were doing was wrong. That thought has not left me since I watched that! All this to say, we may get weary of repeating ourselves. We may tire of telling people to be kind and civil. The reality is, we (the Holy Spirit in us) is the only thing holding back the tsunami of filth that is waiting to be unleashed on this earth. Definitely gave me a new perspective to persevere and keep speaking truth!! Maybe some more can be saved before it is too late 😢❤

Your statement about giving to a stranger on the side of the road. That you just never know when they may be one of Gods' Angels. I know Amish who have an unattended farmstand with an "honor system" cash box. When someone steals from them, they have to confess for "leading another into temptation." So now when I donate to the food pantry I pray that I am not tempting someone else to sin. It's in God's hand, now.

My neighbor goes to all the food pantries and get a load of food, then they share it with their other family members. They do not need to get food pantry food, but these folks have always worked the system. They also ask me if there’s anything I want (I do not need to go to a food pantry, thankfully. At least not yet.). Of course, I refuse. I have a nephew in his 50’s who also does this and gets a lot of donations from his church. This guy also eats out all days of the week, and he has been through two bankruptcies. And of course, I continue to give food to my local church. I have this darn log in my eye….

We are elderly and veterans. We are blessed and choose to help people we know are in need.

I am amazed that people don't listen . Even though the people have been told for a week to stay off Donner Pass because 12 feet of snow and blizzard was coming the pass is full of people .

When I worked I use to give to the food pantry that I now have to go to and it stinks that I need to rely on that pantry and help from our senior citizens center for supplemental food. However, being elderly, with no husband in these times of inflation and my ss benefit being less $800 a month for over 40 years of work is a total joke!!! I never thought I'd be one of the people who ever needed assistance, because I worked my butt off, but here I am...So yes, it ticks me off that people steal from these sources without a conscious. However, to know that Other Channels are Telling people to go to the pantries as a way to stock up their own pantries is totally Infuriating!!!

My sister works at her church food pantry once a month. She takes extra boxes to deliver tho people who don’t have cars or a way to get to food banks. She doesn’t drive herself but her friend will drive her to deliver the boxes.

That said, I've finished the morning dishes and need to get out in the garden. Today's project is focusing on the chicken garden. I grew up very poor. My father was an abusive alcoholic who walked out on us when I was just a boy. My mother did her best, but I remember sometimes going to bed having not had enough for dinner. It was church people and a praying grandmother who helped us out with canned food , clothing ect. There may not be a way to stop people from stealing from food pantries, but believe me the Lord sees it and they'll be held accountable at the judgment.

When shopping and you see an elderly person "adding up" what is in their cart, putting food back or just looking sad, stressed etc. if you can, try and find a way to see where they are checking out and pay for their groceries. You may find that at first they say, "You don't need to pay for me", try again and let them know you have been called to help and it would make you happy to help. Ask them to just smile at a random person, that is more than enough to help and "pay it forward.". No, we aren't wealthy. We are broke by the 3rd week every month. We drive a 2001 Expedition. We have disability from the VA as our only income. Husband fighting to stay with our family alitte longer while fighting terminal stage 4 cancer after 2 failed treatments. We have a roof over our head, a family that helps each other and faith in our Lord. No, we don't contribute to any food banks. Prefer to help in person, we know where our money is going. Consider helping this way if you can, it may make an incredible difference for a person.

You made the comment about how our grand parents had it harder, you bet . My grandmother (from Tennessee) told me stories about the hard life and how wolves were literally outside the door. 60-30,000 car I kept my 2000 Nissan frontier from the assembly line till now. Has 400,000 miles on it. I just upgraded to a 1999 Mercury van with only 81,000 miles and is spotless. Paid cash and still debt free. Get debt free people. I am. No stress. My bills are $250 a month. I can work or not. Definitely never ever going to work fulltime again for someone else wasting my life. My energy going to someone else. Loosing everything has changed my perspective and I've gained so much more than material things. I had to rely on something bigger than myself. I reached out in my lowest times and God was there for me. I'm his now. I live for him now. You know how bad that feeling is when you've let your parents down and disappointed them, well i believe that will be amplified on the day I stand before my creator. We will all he held accountable.

That’s awful if people are prepping off of blessing boxes. I just found out a pastor in the rural part of our state use to help 30 families a year with food and it is now up to 130 families. That’s a huge increase. I’m going to be getting some bags together for the pastor to hand out.

I agree 100% Patera. I work in a small grocery store. I notice a lot of the EBT people of working age and healthy looking, have the newest I-Phones and drive nice cars. It pisses me off their entitlement attitude. They really think they deserve it.

I don't have much in material possessions, but everything I have I have worked for.

I drive a 1999 old truck, My dr is far away. It takes 20 dollors every time i go. I have to go once a month. All last year and this year, I have to go more than once a month. Then a hospital stay this year. The Community Food Pantry really helped me out but at the same time I helped others out too. Our state has dare to care. Which is government subsidized . But in the past I gave to them. The boy does people judge you when they see you go in the people there didn't judge me cuz they knew my circumstances and encouraged me to come back. But what my thought is, how many people does not go even though they're hungry because of Shame of what others put them through. I loved what you said, to keep on giving no matter what. God is the blesser and he will bless you for giving. Not the people

We have a great lady at the food pantry and she limits how many times someone can come in to receive food. Pantry serves about 5 towns. If someone goes to pantries and they are not in need, they are making themselves dependent and yes, they will take from all of us next

In UK you need referal for food bank - from doctor GP, pastor of your church or social services.

Our pantry has to throw away anything they don't hand out. They are required to take it to the landfill. My son works there and he tries to bring home a box to keep it from being thrown away. I divide it with others or give to my neighbors.

The food pantry in my town is the Salvation Army I heard back in December they had an audit and now anyone signing up to get food you need to show you income and how many persons are in your home. I thought this is a great idea.

Patara I filled a blessing box, while I was doing so a woman my age came up and said bless you but someone will come and clean it out within the hour, I smiled and said that’s between them and the Lord, when I saw this blessing box the Lord told me to fill it, I asked the lord for hours at my road construction job so I can fill this box, he made sure I worked 57 hours as my faithful Lord, I in turn am filling this blessing box as his faithful servant.

I have seen people in the Starbucks drive thru and then getting in line for the food bank. Take some time and watch the food bank line. You will be shocked.

The thought of f taking from a food pantry to bolster may own prepping efforts NEVER crossed my mind. If you're doing this or have done this, please stop. Even better, give back 10%. My Grandmother grew up during the great depression, and when the hobos would come around begging for food, she would be sure to give what she could because she believed it could be an Angel sent to test her. Do the right thing always.

A ministry next to my daughter ordered too much food. They brought it to her, she put away all she needed. She then brought to us. Two seniors, we shared with 4 other families. Everyone of us felt blessed.

One of the things I like about my church-Utah, is at least once a year at this time of year they ask people if they can, to donate non-perishable food and items, they as sign a day and volunteers come and pick up the bags and deliver them to the food bank in my area. Every ward does this and the items are donated to the food banks in their area, It ends up being truck loads. I have already started to gather items together.

Honestly I don't care what ppl think. My husband n I do are looking out for us. My feeling is u don't like it don't look. Nobody knows what's good for ourselves other than our ouwn self. I am aware of at least one person who has a youtube channel who goes to multiple food pantries daily and shows the bounty on their channel. I was shocked, to say the least. Hundreds of dollars worth of food every single day. Meats, vegetables, pasta, rice, breads, the whole deal. Gloating about the free bounty. Obviously no moral compass. Yes, this is judging; it is human nature to do so. The person I am referring to seems to not realize how they look putting that out there.

I have found some of my favorite blouses at Goodwill. I don’t need to spend $40 for a shirt to clean toilets and mop floors.

My mother was the super for the Appalachian relief ministry. If you had cable TV and other fluffs. She would deny them any help.

I ran a pantry in our church for many years and I cannot agree with this more. FACTS!

Patara, the PO carriers run a food drive once a year to help. The food pantry comes to pick up the collection. Decades ago the pantry was in town close to the PO but they eventually moved it far away. Over the decades the giving was less and less. Talked with my carrier and I tell you the giving situation is dire-not one full tub😢. I am a proud retired carrier who worked all food drives & the pantry was sounding the alarm back decades about the dire shortage so it was a big event for us for Mother’s Day. Can only imagine how difficult it is now whether you’re the giver or receiver. I pick up 5 extra something on sale at the store thru out the year to put away for the PO food drive & that one day I watch for my carrier. Your tip is what I use for the PO food drive-so thank you, Patara!When I was working we were informed by customers that folks were driving around & taking it from the mailbox/curbside-very sad. I would tell my customers to not leave it curbside, to leave a note, & I will come to the door or garage (safety first). Very long day for delivery of mail but grateful for the patience of the customer, proud of my customers who gave with smiles, and it was rewarding & exhausting at the end of the day! I keep it simple Mrs. P-be a cheerful giver or doer, God watches everything & only He knows what’s in the heart, & there will be a day of accountability by Him. Life is short but eternity is forever!

I have a friend who has a lot of kids. I have gone to pantry/ food giveaways and picked up food for her. I drop it off at her doorstep because a lot of the times she can't make it there. The need is so great for this food I truly pray the people aren't taking it that don't need it.

I don't know when this happened to people in the US. Used to be people would not take charity. Now it seems the respected are people who know how to use the system. Not by me. I was raised to be proud of making my own way. To work for what I have. I think it is a blessing to have enough so you can give to those in need. I know it is.

I carry a Coach purse😂. I have carried the same one for about 15 years. I am not offended. It was an investment. That said, my Subaru is about the same age😊. Point is, I make the decisions and pay for them myself. I will also never stop giving when, how and where the Lord impresses. It's just gonna be me and the judgement stand one day. We need to shore up our case NOW so on that great day we will be told "well done thou good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of the kingdom ".

Great video today, thank you. My dad told me stories of how poor he was growing up and it made me sad. But as we grew up, he always gave to anyone in need, knowing how that felt. We didn't have alot, but my dad made us feel rich. This world needs more men like him. Love to you and your family.
