Use a steamer with hose and 90 degree angle nozzle. It will clear the drain in less than a minute and save you a lot of time rather than boiling and using a turkey baster.

I had the same issue within two weeks of buying a ge fridge. I took it apart after watching all the you tube videos and read the manual. Two things: my first problem was the leveling of the fridge. The manual clearly says the fridge needs to tilted about 10-15 degree backwards for the condensation to drain properly. Although I had it professionally installed the installers never did this. The fridge comes with leveling feet at the front. You have to raise the front of the fridge by turning those feet to make it higher so it is slightly tilted backwards. In my case leveling the feet was not enough since our kitchen floor is slightly sloped inward. I had to put some wedges underneath the feet to make it tilting backwards. The second problem was the drip tube as the maker of this video pointed out. My drip tube is “J” shaped and comes with a lot of gooey stuff to hold it in place from the manufacturer which eventually gets clogged. I cleaned up all that gooey stuff and put a wedge underneath to hold it in place (probably didn’t have to). Problem solved. No issues for a year so far.

My GE Profile French Door Refrigerator model is PFSFOMFZB BB and was slightly different. - two small hex head screws held the freezer door to the door slides. - the ice maker electrical plug connecter was on the left side behind the ice maker itself - there was no small panel on the rear panel to disconnect the electrical connections and I was unable to actually remove the rear panel, but I was able to flex it enough to be able to access the ice and put hot water down the drain hole. Your video was the only one I found that was helpful for the GE Profile French Door fridge. The fridge is about 8 years old and this was the first time I had to unplug the drain. Thank you very much for your detailed video.

This video worked for me as it is the exact same fridge as mine, and it's far from obvious how to take it apart. I ran into a few tiny issues. The little white tabs you press to remove the door hinges were not so obvious to me. Spent a half hour working that out. Once you find them, they are obvious, but its surprising how tiny and inconspicuous they are. Once I removed the back panel, there was some foil covering the insulation, which got stuck in the ice and tore off. Had to run to the store to buy new foil tape for that. That panel takes a long time to dry out and It's not obvious exactly how it goes on. Lastly, the plastic tube in the back of the fridge that connects the drain hole to the condensate pan was clogged up with hair on mine, so it's a good idea to clean that.

Just did this. Video was VERY helpful. Thank you!! My door rwas secured by a screw on each side near the front instead of the white tabs and it lifted out. Ran a LOT of hot water before realizing there was debris (lint/dust and sludge) in the drain tube and clogging the drain tube cap (WR02X12074). Broke a tab holding one of those 2 cross bars. No biggie. Thx again.

Excellent video with great details! Followed almost exact steps (Except the freezer drawer that I had to remove two screws on the side and push up to disengage). The copper wire idea is ingenious! Hopefully it will work (I don't understand why GE fridge could have drain tube frozen up - never seen it on other brands). The only thing that is not clear in this video is removing the divider after loosening the screws of the left rails. I think you need to push it down a bit and twist it out.

As it turned out the flapper was clear and get to it I put all the shelves out of the upper part and there's a about a 9 inch wide cover that goes almost the whole up and down part of that part of the refrigerator I pulled it off and checked it the flapper was okay. I used to hair dryer and I made sure that is completely thawed before I put it all back together. I also looked a little piece of copper wire off of the heater bar and down into the drain hole because the drain hole was freezing. That kept it open. No more leaking on floor.

I have also added the copper wire, worked great for 2-3 years. The fix this time was a new drain hose on the back of fridge. The old one had calcium or lime buildup & water would set in line & freeze due to the lower freezer unit. I should add that the lower freezer unit could probably use a couple inches of copper wire also. Good luck.

I have a GE model GFE28GMKBES, the bottom freezes almost monthly now. When we had someone out recently on our home warranty they told us it was failed maintenance on our part. Claimed what is actually causing it is clogged lines from dust and that we should be clearing those lines at least annually. Now I'm wondering because I have the exact same problem in build up.

More ice build up in bottom of the Monogram freezer. This time I used a turkey baster with boiling water to try and clear the drain hole which goes to the evaporation tray below the freezer and realized it was not an ice in the tube build up but actually debris (metal filings or something) that was clogging the tube. Used a piece of wire to unclog the tube until it started draining water. I think this will fix it- There is a lot of water released during the de-condensation cycle and it has to make it to the evaporation tray

Hi! This video is great. However, I have a GE Monogram Built-in All-Freezer (model ZIF36NMLH). And I keep having a recurring problem where the ice builds up on the floor of the freezer and then somehow melts itself and just drains from under the door (not the drain pan) to the floor. Would this process work for me? I have been melting the ice but it keeps building up - each time more quickly. (Oh and now the ice maker isn't producing for some reason - but this doesn't usually happen in conjunction with the ice on the floor.) Thanks for any advice you can give!

I used a hair dryer! Question. Does this go to the same drain tube as the refrigerator or straight to the tray. My Refrigerator was icing also and I determined i had a lint blockage at the top of the drain tube. That was when I decided to check the freezer coils, and sure enough, those were iced up too. I'm defrosting that one now and as I have cleaned that blockage, I'm hoping this worked. So in summary, one blockage at the bottom resulted in two ice dams, one in fridge, and one in freezer. Am I right?

Then see if you can find the plastic drain tube that leads down to the evaporation pan and then wiggle it loose from where it connects to the freezer drain pan and see if there is some junk caught in there that’s causing it to not drain.

Your issue is most likely solved by now. Just mentioning for future readers: Used a LOT of hot water and the clog was still there. Removed the lower back panel, disconnected the drain tube and blew down into the tube which was completely clogged with sludge/lint wads towards the bottom cap. Removed the bottom cap, cleaned it all out and now I'm good to go. While I was back there, I should have added a touch of bleach to the drip pan which has a tenancy to get slimed up.
