I have used T-Mobile for year and half now. Couldn’t be happier, it works great!! I generally used 1.5 terabytes a month. I had Cox before that and it was terrible. Would go out for a few hours every other day or so. Cox charged about 6 times more as well.

I really like my 5g, I live in a very rural area, and any company that did come out my way only offered around 10-15mbps and wanted to charge around $60. First day I powered on my 5g I was getting immediate 120mbps with only 3/5 bars. On late nights I can see speeds up to 300mbps while also still on 3/5 bars. I totally recommend

Your channel was the first I followed before signing up for the T-Mobile 5G Home Internet. In fact, I was grateful for your review and use of this product because a few days before seeing your channel, Xfinity sent me some literature regarding future rate increases coming in Jan. 2022. I called to see if we could delay them for a year but to no avail. After watching an episode of your channel, I went right online to see if it was available in our area and it was. I then called a number noted on the website and that was in Nov. 19, 2021 and signed up for it that very day. I have the trash can and I'm the only one that uses it as my sister and her family have their own like the black one you have. I love it. I have the 12th gen corei3 processor on my Asus 16" laptop and my cellphone. I'm really not a power user. I've added an anti-virus and safety software and a VPN as I feel safer with some additional safeguards. At my apartment I had a 4K TV with Roku hooked up to it too. No problems whatsoever. Streaming seamlessly on my 4K and on my laptop. My set is not near any windows but next to a wall. I keep it plugged in 24/7. It does get hot but I don't check it and it's going strong. It doesn't stay hot 24/7 but at times. Just to let you know. Getting a MacBook Air in a few to be my forever laptop while my Asus will be good till June 2030. Hope you are having a good session on your gateway. Thanks again!

Peter, our service has consistently gotten better; rural, always get B12, was getting n71 50% of the time with up to 100 Mbs speeds, but recently it's become 75% of the time and up to 165 Mbs, all with only 2 bars at most and -100 to -110dbm signals, consistent 30ms Pings, so still happy out here!
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 2 года назад
Great news! Yes, n71 is a blessing for those further afield. I think T-Mobile made the right decision to use existing infasture and aggregate mid-band frequencies to get the performance at a distance. Still not a bad investiment. TMUS (ticker) is going place. AT&T and Verizon are screwing up big time. Verizon spent $54Billion buying high bandwidth frequencies that need to be repeated every 2 blocks - I kid you not.

After 4 months, I've rarely been affected by throttling. I get 5 bars. I've seen it dip to 100+ on rare occasions, but it's been solid aroung 350-650 down, 90 up. My gateway doesn't get hot and I rarely reboot since I forget I'm suing 5G. T-Mo CRUSHES my previous Comcucks 120Mbps/10 forthe same price! I use my own AX router but the gteway AX router will be gud enough for 90% homes! T-Mo 5G is always working, unlike Comcucks where the network goes down for 4-8 hours. I hate to say such gud things in fear that T-Mo might raise the rates or throttle more! Pssst...I use about 2.5 to 3.5TB a month...but don't tell anyone.

Thanks . A bit too technical and superfluous for my needs … I’ve had the latest version for a couple of weeks . I’ve moved it around my house to various locations to get the best results at a window location as recommended. I’ve had issues connecting wireless printers in the basement and watching RU-vid TV in every room. I tried a NETGEAR WiFi Extender , and even with tech support from NETGEAR it wouldn’t connect to the T Mobile . My next step , per T Mobile is to try two Google Mesh units that they recommend and offer a discount with the purchase . I like the reduced cost of the T Mobile , but so far connection and strength have been an issue. I seriously doubt that I will get a signal at the pool this summer , but I’ll try .

I live in a fringe area for my T Mobil phone and have to use a cell spot from T-Mobile. The cell spot feeds the phone signal, via a cable, into my AT&T router which connects to my phone via Blue Tooth otherwise my phone won’t work in my house. Turns out the T Mobil device is not capable of processing my cell spot. Do you know if their newer equipment is compatible with the cell spot? I sure hope so, I’d like to get rid of AT&T. When T Mobil first came out with their gateway I rushed out to get one. @$40 at the time. My internet improved greatly over AT&T.
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 2 года назад
My guess is that your phone is using WiFi calling. It is a good feature for fringe areas and you can get calls to your phone with any Internet. I don't think you need that "Cell Spot", just sent the phone to work with the WiFi configured by your T-Mobile gateway/router and your phone should be working. The AT&T router should not be necessary it is just that your phone is setup to work with that WiFi name (SSID). Good luck. If you can ditch AT&T bill, it is a good win.

It is strange that you would get that error typing in a 192.168.x.x address because that domain is reserved for LAN addresses and is never on the public internet (so always safe). You should be able to click on this link -> 192.168.12.1 and it should bring you there. If you see the "triangle" there is usually an option to proceed anyway. Give that a shot.

I just got it and I am very surprised by how fast it is. I mainly got it because Frontier my old internet provider had a monopoly in my area and I had no choice but to stick with them if I wanted any internet. I had a 9Mbps with 1Mbps upload speed with Frontier and I paid a whopping $73 a month. Well, that was till they upped it by $5 making it $78 a month without saying anything about the increase in price. I do feel like they increased it after I set the account to Autopay thinking I would not notice. Luckily after being stuck with the worst internet provider in frontier, I was finally able to get normal people internet. I now feel like I am living in the present when it comes to the internet. So far after having it for 1 week, it's great, I have had no issues other than some speed drops for a few seconds but that does not happen often at all. I tend to get around 150 to 200Mbps between 12pm to 8pm, and from 8 to 12am it's 250 to 300Mbps and I have had it go past 400Mbps at around 4am. The upload speed tends to stick around 30 to 40 at all times. So compared to my old internet from Frontier, T-mobile so far is 22 times faster during the day and 33 times faster at night while being $28 cheaper. So so far I am extremely happy and I hope I don't have any issues like I have seen others have with it. For those of you guys that may be stuck in a similar situation that I have been in, give it a try. I will say if the site says that it is not available in your area, that may not be true. Since it also said that the Tmobile home internet was not available for me, but I know it was since I helped my neighbor set it up. After calling they did confirm that I can get it. So just talk to someone that works there they will confirm it since the site does not always work. Even the Rep I was talking to said that It changes weekly, one week it will way say that you can get it and the next it will say that it's unavailable.
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 2 года назад
@WBsteve great to hear. I am sorry that you had Frontier for so long... that sounds like hell. Now that you have T-Mobile, your other neighbor may want to get it too and may not be able to.. It all has to do with the slow downs you are seeing. T-Mobile wants to sell of "excess bandwidth" in markets where excess exists. Once they take on enough home networking folks, they may cut it off to preserve your experience. So even if it is available in your area, you may not be able to get it.

@WBsteve
@WBsteve Год назад
@@K1LLADELPH1A-_- It's great for me, But I would not recommend it if you live anywhere near a high-traffic area such as a stadium where thousands of people converge. Becuase you can imagine 10 thousand plus phones trying to all use the same internet it will pretty much make your internet non existent. I live near a place that has a lot of raves that happen. So usually like once a month on a Friday and Saturday. my internet does not work till those events are over. The weather will affect it a bit like rain, and wind. The internet will still work but it will have slower speeds than usual. This is not a suitable internet for streaming. By streaming I mean, streaming yourself playing games to an audience like on twitch. I don't mean streaming like watching Netflix. The line is just not stable enough, at least for me it's not. But for the most part, it's really fast internet. I don't have kids but I do play games and 95% of the time for me it's great. I have no issues at all. You can easily have 10 kids playing while using the same internet and it will be fine. Of course that totally depends on the speeds you get. You also may get better speeds if you're closer to a 5g line. And if you don't live any were near a crowded place or a place that becomes crowded then this may be good internet for you. For me, even with all those issues. I still love the internet. Mainly because I know I am not getting screwed by My internet provider when it comes to price and speed. I was paying $70+ for 13Mb DL speed. This was the fastest speed I could get for my area(BTW the normal speed for most Americans is 45Mb DLspeed for about $55). Now that I was able to switch I get around 160Mb DL speed on a normal day to 200+ Mb dl speed on a really good day. So my internet is 12 to 16 times faster than my old internet for more than $20 cheaper. So if you have no other better options than what you currently have. Then, in my opinion, it's a good alternative. You also may get better speeds than I do since some have got an average of over 400+ with it. Hope this helps.

I trialed T-Mobile's 5G Home Internet, and the speeds I am getting are AMAZING. Typical download speeds are minimum 300Mbps and upload speeds are 30Mbps (these are during peak), and when it's off-peak, my download speeds reach up to 750Mbps and upload speeds up to 100Mbps. I'm surprised that the video actually talks about double NAT, and the actual resolution for that is to have the Static IP service for an extra $3 a month. To have the Static IP service, you need to have a business entity (not a sole proprietor account). If you have an Individual or Sole Proprietor account, you're out of luck.

On a home network the bars are your connection strength to your modem device. 1 bar would mean you're either too far away from the device or there is a bad signal to the device. Full bars mean are you are either close to it, or have a really great signal. Example: You could have no internet connection coming through on the actual device itself, but still have 4 bars because your connection strength to the device is great, just no internet going through it at the moment. As this T-Mobile device appears to get a signal directly to cell tower, I imagine the bars on your screen are referencing how good your connection is to your nearest tower.
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 6 месяцев назад
Ah, here is where you learn something new. There is a difference between signal strength and good signal. The difference is quality. For a home network, this is not usually an issue but in the world of 5G where your up stream and down stream may be on different frequencies, bars do not tell the full story. I have tested products that give you 5 bars of signal but actually lower your performance!!

The Comcast in my neighborhood is literally broken - they throttle the upload to half a megabit per second during the day, then it magically fixed itself in the morning and at night. No matter how much tech support -- even some of which I *paid* for, they could never fix it. I just added a 2nd Proxicast 5G mimo to complete my 4x4 setup. I went from 70 mps down/1 mps up (stock) to speeds up to 250 mps down/30 mps up on N41. T-Mobile currently has a promo for Magenta Max customers that will drop the price to 30/month. Overall, I am very satisfied with the service. Streaming services seem to perform better than Xfinity's 1gb service. The only issue we have is the online gaming for my wife's Nintendo Switch. The double NAT is preventing it from working right. A solution would be for online gaming services to go to ip6 as all of the ip4 addresses were sold out as of 2015. This is why all cell providers use CG Nat. Overall, good service and 70/month cheaper. I also had issues with Xfinity's service too. None of these ISPs are perfect. At 30/month, I'm more willing to put up with some headaches than 70. The 4x4 mimo has substantially lowered my ping and jitter. Thank you for your help with the setup. I'd love to get the speeds you are getting, but I'm still getting reasonable speeds.

I did find a work around for these issues by installing a VPN that supports port forwarding. I took a chance on PureVPN. It was 54.00 for 24 months with the port forwarding add on and I was able to set it up with the Dynalink Router you recommended. My wife was able to connect and play her online games and get around the double Nat issue, albeit at a significant download penalty. I went from 220mbs to around 100mbs. I only lost about 5mbs up. Wife is happy. That is the main thing.

@PeterC408 2 года назад
@@tquindt1 I want to know how this works. What did you have to do?
@tquindt1
@tquindt1 2 года назад
I signed up for the service and added the poet forwarding upgrade. My wife was able to get her old Wii-U to work, but not her Switch. It also only worked for a short time before you had to switch VPN servers, but it did work. VPN will also slow your speeds and increase your latency since you are adding a layer + encryption. It is far from a perfect solution, but until these service providers switch to ip6, this will be an issue. It is relatively inexpensive for software companies to support ip6 vs hardware companies. A hardware switch costs around 100k each for each server. This is why most gaming services (and traditional ISPs) are not in too big of a hurry to migrate over. This also illustrates the problem of supporting legacy equipment/standards. While nobody wants to spend money replacing obsolete electronics when they still work, failing to do so negatively impacts everyone. As more customers adopt non-traditional ISPs, perhaps these service providers will be enticed to upgrade their servers.

@@tquindt1 I think the problem has to do with T-Mobile's network right now. It is by default a double Nat. The real question is why is Nintendo wanting to take control of our networks making servers out of us all. Why? This isn't a P2P play. I am surprised that they would want to tie gameplay to P2P. There is too much at risk.
@tquindt1
@tquindt1 2 года назад
@Peter Carcione Think of CG Nat as "Compatibility Mode." My T-Mobile Gateway has an ip6 address. Back in 2015, North America ran out of its share of ip4 addresses. CG Nat essentially shares that ip4 address with all the mobile users so that they can neect to ip4 servers. From that point forward, folks could only purchase existing addresses from someone else or get an ip6 address. While Verizon (Fios) and AT&T (DSL) were traditional home ISPs (and as a result owned some ip addresses), T-mobile did not. Most streaming services and some website do natively support ip6, but the gaming industry and legacy ISPs have been reluctant to fork out millions of dollars that it would cost to migrate their hosting servers to ip6. CG Nat will always be an issue for gaming because it exists as a Compatibility mode to allow for mobile users to still access those parts of the internet that do not yet support ip6. Different companies have different IT budgets. Some supported the new standard right away and others took a, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." (This kinds of harkens back to the 640k RAM limit when engineers didn't think that computers would ever need more than 640k of ram. PC's were hampered by this for decades, and creativity worked around it. Ip4 was the same way. The engineers never thought we would run out of addresses, but we did. Replacing the gaming servers will be expensive. I would not be surprised if these companies are lobbying for a government subsidy to upgrade their servers.

My family had the T-Mobile home Internet setup for about six months, with similar data usage to you. Unfortunately we had to reboot the router very frequently.... and eventually it just stopped providing Internet to us. We swapped out routers and sim cards, but nothing worked to fix our problem. Eventually I had to just drop T-Mobile because no Internet just doesn't work in this day and age. I got the Verizon home internet which is MUCH slower, but more reliable. It works. I loved T-Mobile while it lasted.
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 2 года назад
Reboots can happen for two reasons: 1) system is getting too hot. This router as an Access Point gets warm when supporting several WiFi devices - use gateway as modem only by plugging in a router 2) packet size issues - when using a 2nd router the packet sizes used by your home network do not fit well on the T-Mobile network. Change the MTU value (packet size from 1500bytes to 1420bytes). Then it became ROCK Solid. If you are using an external router with Verizon, set your MTU size to 1428 bytes and it will work faster and more reliably too.

Are you an engineer? Do you like to understand things quantitatively? Did you do any background analysis? I determined that the T-Mobile service was awesome but the gateway (though awesome in its ability to aggregate frequencies) had other issues, so I fixed them. Here is a list of the thing I did ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MZ4k1D_GxyA.html MY GUESS is that either you did not have a very good signal (What were your SNR, RSRP, RSRQ? What bands were you picking up?) or that you were using an external router (which I did too) and it was dropping because the packet size was off. T-Mobile uses 1420bytes instead of 1500bytes. That simple change on your router will make it ROCK SOLID STABLE and a little faster too.

I started having slow downs with t- Mobile home back in February and I've been with service 1 year. They've consistently gotten worse and I've repeatedly called. Got the same BS about tower, working on it, should be a month. Never happened. I originally had the trash can gateway. I never got above 3 bars. I even had external antennas, pointing right at the towers(2 panel spaced accordingly at 25 feet in the air), 3/4 of a mile away. Signal wouldn't improve and the slow downs stayed the same. I went from 400 down and 30 up to 30 down and 25 up. I was also now on b66 and N71. These bands where I am are terrible. I felt like I had att DSL line for internet. Turing off the gateway or restarting from the app wouldn't get me moved back to the old settings. I am stuck on b66 and N71. Finally sent me new Arcadian gateway. I got better signal, 4 bars, but still stuck on those bands. My last call got an American customer service person and tech. I thought I had called the wrong customer service. I was speechless. Finally got a truthful answer, which was I have been deprioritized. Problem will not be fixed until the tower is upgraded for more service period. No date on that for completion. They said there is no way I can be moved to another tower even if they tried because the gateway is going to move back to the closest best tower to you, which is the b66 and N71 tower. I have finally given up. I went to Xfinity(the devil) and got 600 down and no data caps. Got the price down from what they advertise by calling and getting a better deal. I didn't want to do this, but no choice. 30 to 35 down for 50 bucks made no sense anymore when I could get local broadband for the same price and the speeds are consistent. This channel is great for improvements for t-Mobile home and for everyone who actually gets great service. Good luck on it staying that way.... I'm willing to go back at some point, but I'll need proof that it's actually going to be consistent service in my area. Side note.. really do appreciate the amount of insight I have gained from watching posts from here.

Bands don't matter. It is marketing fluff to make something slightly compilated more understandable. As you pointed out there is no band locking. You don't care if you are getting 4bars of n71 when you would rather have 3bars of n41. n71 is an XR band, but when you recieve it well, as you saw in my video it isn't half bad. n41 is faster but doesn't travel as far...so, if you can get it you share it will less people. Look, these gateways suck (not sure if that is entirely fair but it illustrates my point). They do not have band locking and the antenna are packed so tightly in this thing and they are trying to catch a signal that is outside. Think of cellular signals as sound you can't hear... you need to get outside and point towards the sound... people that have done this have mimicked my results. Give it a go.
@normrobbins4682
@normrobbins4682 2 года назад
I did have 2 external proxicast panel antennas 25 ft up in the air pointing at the tower. I used cell mapper to help me place correctly. Even with those installed, I was still deprioritized on that tower. That's what the tech told me with support. So the antenna didn't matter, it was the quality I was actually getting from the tower. I was still getting the slow down speeds. I believe you and others who have the service have a tower with better infrastructure than mine does in Tennessee. I'm still glad TMobile offers this service it makes the large broadband companies have to be price competitive. Also I should have added I was getting great service from the 2 antennas before I was deprioritized.

I don't understand all the technical jargon. Hopefully someone can answer my question (talk to me like I'm 5). We have a tiny house. Just the hubby and me. So 2 phones, 1 TV and a computer, no gaming. Can we just plug this in and hook up a router for wifi? And we have a barn 200 ft away, will it reach there?
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 Год назад
Yes, just plug it in and you should be fine. This is a gateway, it gets Internet over 5G and then is also a WiFi Router and will deliver WiFi around your home. Outside, 200 ft away might work but it will be much slower. Set your devices for 2.4GHz WiFi if you want them to reach outside. 2.4GHz WiFi is slower but it travels much further.

HERE IS WHAT I WOULD TRY before putting an antenna in a expensive antenna in the attic amzn.to/30MBZm9 it has an adhesive and magnetic back. Try it inside a window or outside on a ledge. Paint it to match the house... getting outside the is best way to get signal. Height and direction are important but outside trumps them all.

Hi I just bought a home in a rural area that doesn't have wifi or cable. They do have a ATT cell tower across the street from me. Is there anyway I can get cellular wifi from them using a router? I called att and they said they could only provide 1.5mbps at $65.00 a month! I currently have Verizon cellular. Can you help me get wifi 😫
@PeterC408
@PeterC408 2 года назад
It looks like both T-Mobile and AT&T have 4G LTE equipment out there. T-Mobile is out by North Summit Drive inside the upper loop. And AT&T is near the I-5 freeway and in the Frazier County Park. T-Mobile bands of 2 and 6 both provide good coverage. This will give you internet and deliver it as WiFi in your home.

A friend of mine tried this a few months ago, unbeknown to me. He has DSL and lives in a fairly rural area just outside of town. When he switched to the T-Mobile, his speed got worse! Dropped down to Dial-up speed - painful indeed!! He tested on main pc as well as mobile devices - all were slow. He had no other equipment (second router, etc.) connected. The T-Mobile was completely stand alone. Phone tech support tried what they could but to no avail. (Don't think they sent a tech out) His son who lives a block away also has the T-Mobile - works great for him. But my friend ended up returning the equipment and had to stay with his DSL service. I wished he would have called me before he sent it all back. I suggested that perhaps somehow he had received a defective unit. I don't have the T-Mobile but I have another friend in town only two blocks away and he too has great service with it.
