Before the Montreal screwjob, he was just a baby face announcer and it wasn't really mentioned that he owned the company. Brets own documentary helped turn him into the perfect heel in fans eyes for Austin to go up against. It worked so well it's the reason some people still think the Screwjob was a work.

The heel turn was so good grown man were legit angry at hogan. Watch the end of the match to see Scott Hall stomping a fan from getting into the ring to comfront hogan. How WWE should book Cena heel turn: So this requires some substantial buildup. But bear with me. So it's early November of 2016, and the championship is currently on a heel Roman Reigns, who turned heel and won it from Triple H at Wrestlemania 32. Because of Reigns's heel turn, his friendship with Dean Ambrose has faded. Eventually their relationship is so strained that it culminates in a title match between Reigns and Ambrose at Survivor Series. Ambrose wins the belt to a HUGE pop from the crowd, both because of Ambrose's popularity but also because Roman has had a tyranical championship reign, pun intended. So Ambrose defends the belt against Reigns at TLC, and at the Rumble against someone like Cesaro or Dolph Ziggler in a top-babyface vs top-babyface match. That same night, Cena wins the Rumble, getting lots of boos (he'll still be booked as a face, but tying Stone Cold's record would get Cena an all time high of CENA SUCKS chants). Cena still acts like and is booked as a face though, making it clear he's fighting Ambrose at Wrestlemania out of pure respect, hyping the match as passing the torch (it'll be booked to seem like Cena is going to put over Ambrose). The two have a non-title match at Fastlane, which Ambrose wins after a technical masterpiece of a match. They shake hands, and Cena is still a face. At this point Stone Cold has shown up and said that he doesn't like the fact that Cena won the Rumble, and says he'll be in Ambrose's corner at Mania. On the other side, Ric Flair has said that he DOES want Cena to win his 16th title and tie Flair's record, putting himself in Cena's corner. The match is made a ladder match, and the build is set. During the match, Flair and Austin don't get involved at all. Ambrose and Cena have been fighting as faces, without too much aggression but still with crowd pleasing moves/spots. Towards the end though, the two are on the top of the ladder, and Ambrose smashes Cena's head into the top of the ladder, and hits a Dirty Deeds from the top of the ladder. Both men are down, but Ambrose gets up first and begins climbing the ladder (SLOWLY). He's abotu halfway up when Cena gets up, grabs him, and slams him to the floor. Cena rains on Ambrose, hitting him with HARD punches. Ambrose has a bloody nose, and is sufficiently knocked out. Austin gets involved and tries to pull Cena off of Dean, but in a fit of rage Cena hits Austin with an AA. Flair now gets in the ring, and yells at Cena for taking the "pure respect" out of the match. Cena gets in Flair's face, and the two scream at each other before Cena hits an AA on Flair as well. Cena is getting massively booed by now (obviously), and he turns to the crowd, then starts to climb the ladder, but stops, hits Ambrose with another AA, and does the You Can't See Me hand wave in knocked out Ambrose's face before turning back and climbing the ladder, unhooking the championship. Cena does the You Can't See Me to the camera, and holds the title up high. Cena is now fully heel, Ambrose has massive babyface heat, and you have a feud-of-the-year-to-be in Cena vs Ambrose. Boom.

CM Punk's 2009 heel turn against Jeff Hardy is my personal favorite. It was such a slow dissension into "darkness" and every step of it made so much sense. I still remember how Punk snapped and beat the shit out of Jeff, and how he looked damn near euphoric afterwards.

This may not be as big, but I was thinking when matt turned againest jeff diring his match with edge. Now I kmow they've feuded a million times, but it was who matt helped. EDGE! The guy who took his women, and basically turned him into a deranged psychopath. Also matt would share it to the whole world instead of talking to edge in private. In my eyes, one of the most controversial moments ever.

One of the most underrated and effectively executed heel turns was Rick Martel turning on Tito Santana at Wrestlemania V. I never would have thought Martel could be a bad guy, and the way he was able to justify his turn (Santana hitting him with the flying forearm) was great.

Shawn putting Marty through the window was actually him shattering through to his iconic singles career...instead of leading the other rocker behind, he LITERALLY used him to breakthrough...to greatness.

When Scott Steiner turned on Rick to join the NWO was a big one for me. I loved the Steiner Brothers. Granted, Scott looked like a massive tool with that mullet, but I still remember that double axe-handle smash he dropped on Rick while he was completely vulnerable.

The shirt rip on #2 was only the icing on the cake. Andre also ripped out Hogan's crucifix necklace, leaving the Hulkster bleeding on his chest. It is not clear what caused the bleeding: the crucifix or one of Andre's fingernails.

Excellent list but next time make a Top 20 list of best heel turns and don't forget to include; *1)* Barry Windham turning on Luger and joining the 4 Horsemen. *2)* Lex Luger becomes heel after winning the WCW World Heavyweight title and was managed by the (then) recently retired 'Harley Race'. This also had a long running legacy of continuity?, after Luger left WCW in 1992 to go to the WWF As Race would try to outdo Luger by managing his next protege in; Big Van Vader and again manage a World Champion multiple times with Vader up until 1993 when Vader lost to Ric Flair at Starrcade '93 And when Hulk Hogan entered WCW and so on. While Ric Flair made his epic journey into the WWF, the experiment in going with Lex Luger in WCW in '91 was interesting in a year when wrestling saw many change-ups to say the least. *3)* Sid Justice's heel turn (setup after the Royal Rumble '92 and executed at February's Saturday Night's Main Event) in the lead up to Wrestlemania 8 and match with Hulk Hogan and Hogan's semi retirement afterwards! *4)* Owen Hart against Bret Hart. A heel turn that subtly was built up at the 93 Survivor Series with the Hart Family Vs Shawn Michaels' knights (Michaels filled in for Jerry 'The King' Lawler who had legal troubles in Memphis at the time) with Owen being the only one eliminated from the team. the split and turn against his brother at the '94 Royal Rumble and incredible matches against Bret throughout 1994 at; Wrestlemania X, Cage match at Summerslam, match on WWF Wrestle Challenge/Superstars where he actually won the WWF Championship briefly. You missed CM Punk turning during his title run. Triple H's turn on Michaels in 2002. Jericho's turn on Michaels at Mania XIX was better than the one you chose. Matt Hardy's turn on Jeff when he smacked him over the head with a chair and cost him the title. Taker's turn to become Big Devil Red Evil. Austin's turn on the Rock and siding with McMahon. Rock's turn to side with McMahon (I mean how could you miss that one. He had a PPV named after him because of it!) Rock's Hollywood turn in 2003 as well. You had too much Hogan on the list btw.

Seth Rollins has the best heel turn in my opinion.

Much smaller scale, but I will forever love CM Punk's heel turn in Ring of Honor that started the first Summer of Punk in 2005, when he won the ROH title on his supposed final night in the company before going to WWE only to turn on the fans in his post-match promo, bashing all the guys who left ROH for TNA and that without him the company wouldn't even exist anymore. He stayed with ROH throughout the summer, doing stuff like signing his WWE contract on top of the ROH belt to further stick it to the fans and threatened every night to walk out of the company with the belt. So basically what they repeated in 2011. And each night he would face up and coming stars, turning them into instant top babyfaces simply for trying to get the title off of him before he could leave and always he would cheat his way to victory causing the fans to despair, before he was finally beaten in a 4-way elimination match.

An older one, but I always loved the Fabulous Rougeau's heel turn because it was executed so perfectly and gradually.
