Good call. Guilty as charged. In my defense, I had never seen him fight so tbh I didn't rly know who he was, other than a name in the rankings that I couldn't grasp why he was there...
I always think about how DC was treated for telling the truth back when Jon could do no wrong. I remember being very surprised people turned on him so fast.
they just follow the ufc propaganda that the fight with Jon Jones didn't happen because of him, even though it's the ufc's fault the fight didn't happen 2 years ago.
Fans were never organically hating on Francis. The media content brainwashed the fans to accept it and then, poof. It's established. From your friendly establishment.
Rhonda didnt just lose and everyone decided to hate her. Its how she acted after and took those losses that lost her respect from the MMA community. Nobody can doubt that she played a huge part in bringing eyes to womens MMA but she deserved that criticism for her handling of losing.
Yea she wasn't criticised for being a bad loser. The world turned on her like they'd all personally caught her molesting their pets. It was way over the top.
It's like she was playing a heel but turns out that was just her personality. Yeah she'd probably still be competitive if she came back, but I hope she doesn't. There aren't many fighters I actively dislike, but I was glad to see the back of Ronda.
Just how many of these people are actually paid bots though? They say the same repetitive shit over and over again in every comments section that influence low IQ fans. When Ngannou struggles, they're everywhere like the plague. When Ngannou wins, they vanish from existence and are nowhere to be found.
@@Dukeflyhawker bruh what that’s such a dumb comment i’m not the one complaining about contracts not even fighters are they sign the contracts and know what they sign maybe they should listen to you then💀
I was never a Tim Sylvia fan back in the day and was happy when Randy beat him for the belt, with that being said I agree that the amount of hate he gets today is ridiculous. Before he switched up his style, he had some really good KO wins.
He switched up his style by not taking steroids. He was a bit boring as a clean fighter when champ, but super nice guy. As a challenger he did try to push the pace more
"Don't throw out the baby with the bathwater" derives from German folktale because of course it does "There once was a boy who liked to suck his thumbs. His mother asked him to stop, but he didn't. So she cut off his thumbs. Now he has no thumbs, good night"
I feel like Belal hate mainly stems from the fact that his past few opponents are been generally well-liked by the community (burns, luque, wonderboy and even brady) and the fact that he neutralised all of them in a "boring" way left fans angry at him and his style
I like Belal, He’s a nice dude who gets unnecessary hate. I support him, but he manages to make almost every fight a chore to get through. Him being champ would mean boring main event after boring main event and that would draw people away. He’s the type of fighter who would win a street fight via decision.
@@panagiotisk.8699 That's why Islam gets hate That's why Izzy gets a big part of his hate They defeat guys that are very liked Izzy defeated Whittaker 2 times and the second fight was close where many think it was a robbery which makes the hate even bigger(it was no robbery, stfu), Pereira and Costa(nowadays he is very liked) and had a stinker with Yoel who is also very liked And Islam had a super close fight with Volk who is very liked where many think that it was a robbery which makes the hate for him even worse(it was no robbery btw, stfu) And he dominated the guy that is probably one of the most loved guys in UFC history Oliveira
How is DC not on this list? Sure he gets the love now. But at the time when his rivalry with Jon was on, people hated on him. Jon was coked out, had charges on him, had ped stuff and yet we as fans choose to boo on a guy who had overcome nothing but adversities and still choose to be a great human being. Losing a daughter, not making it into Olympics because of a kidney failure. Every bad thing happened to him. And yet we choose to cheer on the exact opposite of a good human. 😅
Also Daniel is head coach of a top 10 California high school wrestling team, coached the top ranked 152 lb wrestler in country (now on Mich St), and just had three state champions last year…
The fact fans still cheer and root for Jones is proof of the short memory and low intelligence of the average MMA fan. Jones should have been kicked out of the UFC a long time ago, and permanently banned from MMA competition to boot. The fact he's still here despite beating his wife in front of his kids, is a fucking disgrace.
The Tim Silvia hate always perplexed me. Everyone at the time was juicing & the guy literally broke his arm and wanted to keep fighting. Dude was a monster.
Colby shouldn't even be on this list. He has a massive fan base and is being given great opportunities even tho he's only won 2 fights in the last 4 years. And most ppl seem to overrate him if anything
And Colby gets a pass for the weirdest things🤨 Even tho he did also some wrong things, Izzy would rather deserve to be here IF you wanna put one of these 2 in there Colby gets a pass for insulting Poirier's wife and kids, making fun of Matt Hughes' accident and for making fun of Usman's whole culture Nobody cares But Izzy is called racist for saying the n word as a black man and started a sh*tstorm because of this💀
I never realized Sam Alvey was ever hated. I never liked the guy but I certainly never hated him and throughout my 20+ year of following the sport I never really thought about him unless I was actively watching him fight.
Rhonda is the most warranted one on this list. In my opinion it's because she did so much, because she accomplished so much, which in turn made her represent so much of this so often misrepresented sport that we all love so much. And at the first sign of resistance she snapped like a twig. She knowingly and willingly became an ambassador of our sport and when the time came, she let us all down.
I still dont understand how Tyron got a shot after beating Kelvin and not fighting a year compared to Wonderboy who was beating top guys and beat the last guy to beat him. History would have been way different.
Several fighters that were once hated, ended up being beloved by fans: Anderson, Amanda, Bisping, Cormier. And if you disagree with these names, then you have a bad memory. All of these fighters were booed and fans rooted against them for years before finally being embraced. I remember even Tony Ferguson getting lots of flack for being "cringy"
I remember Anderson was booed for being boring. I think because he was one of the typical counter fighters. I'm sure that after that he started his showboating and became popular.
@@mikebirminghamnzhe was boring because he was bored. The fights when his opponents were either horrendously overmatched, or refused to actually engage, he pulled lackluster performances. But put him in the cage with somebody willing to exchange? Poetry in motion.

I'm guilty of piling on Ronda after her losses. But I'm trying to fight the urge to point out her sudden interest in returning after Amanda Retires and Cyborg is gone from UFC....
Ronda dug her own grave there. Her attitude was the problem and still to this day remains her biggest problem, even with WWE fans. So unless she humbles herself a bit, she's never going to be liked by fans again.
People hate on Sylvia because they feel he doesn't (or shouldn't) belong in this world, he doesn't have the body, he doesn't have the charisma, he doesn't trash talk, he just looks like a guy. And yes, it's completely undeserved, he seems like a decent person to me.
He also has the best records at heavyweight behind Stipe. People love to act like Syilva was in a week era, right because killers like Arlovski, Mir, and Coture are so bad.
@@aaronforsythe8556 Boring to watch? How so? The guy was a bug brawler who would try and KO people. You think refusing to tap to an arm bar and getting his arm snapped is boring? Or getting dropped and fighting drawn out war with Coture is boring? Compared to what exactly? Because Gane vs Ngannou was a damn snooze fest.
I have massive respect for everyone who steps in the cage, it takes a lot of balls. Feel like MMA got so mainstream fans really forget how hard it is what these guys do.
People shouldn’t go out of their way to express hatred towards Belal, but he certainly doesn’t do himself any favors in or out of the cage. If we just look at his most recent fight in the presser he mocked the crowd and state he was fighting in and then in the cage took an overworked and injured fan-favorite Burns five full rounds of abuse without a hint of a finish. Tbh I think he’s somewhat trying to be a heel nowadays which is probably his best option given the opinion on him already.
With Colby i dont feel like he has been treated unfairly from fans in terms of his resume. His first run to the title fair dues Maia, RDA, Lawler at the time that was fine. But the narrative that he just would be champion minus Usman is not one me and many others will not get behind. Facte are the guys he beat wouldnt beat any of the top 10 right now. Most of them are retired for gods sake. How can we confidently say he beats Neal, Shavkat, Burns, Edwards, Belal, Brady, when he wont fight any contenders. Facts are none of his wins look as impressive now as they did at the time.
He has been treated unfairly - once he beat them, all the fans were giving him props but once he became the villain, all the fans turned and started to put these accomplishments down as "these fighters were old and past their prime" and so on. Also, do you really think Belal or Brady would beat Colby if they fought?
It was because of UFC 259 when Aljo turned heel after he won the belt via DQ. At first, he said he didn't want to win the belt that way but then embraced a heel of sorts, and now everyone hates him because of the TJ and Yan win. Aljo is overhated because he's kept winning. I understand the wins over TJ and Yan and the cringe villain role he's doing it to keep his name in the fight business sure it can be a bit of a nuisance to deal with but I genuinely don't think he deserves the hate. But at the end of the day, Aljo is still the champion, and no one else can change the result, and we will have to see what happens after UFC 292.
Pretty sure if he fought his best friend that people would stop criticizing him but he rather tuck his tail between his legs and change weight. His criticism is warranted.
@@CelticWolfsBane Why be a fighter then if you wanna hug your bro and claim you are the best. Let me call my boss and ask him if I can have the day off cause my best friends also working today.
I like Aljo but I understand the haters a bit. He won the title because of the weird knee, acted like a fool, and then celebrated the same night on camera 😂 then he beats Yan (Russian were always going to hate anyway), a one armed TJ, and Cejudo in an ok fight. Then his bodyguard Merab beats all the possible contenders. He’s a victim of circumstance but he doesn’t help himself. Add in the really frustrating habit of him doing the weird ducking thing when he’s in trouble, and knowing grounded knees are illegal in UFC, and you got a recipe for disaster 😂
Willing to see if Ronda could mix it up with 'todays' bantamweight women. Heck Meisha and Holly are still in the TOP 15 and both are compelling come-back fights. Good list!
People don't hate Sterling because he kneed himself in the face; they hate him because he intentionally put himself in a bad position, to "protect" himself after a failed takedown, by taking advantage of a byzantinely worded rule rather than just actually protecting himself (what's that thing the ref says before every match, again?), and then bragged about it on Twitter.
Origin of the baby with the bathwater saying: In medieval times, baths were more of a once a year kind of thing. The man of the house went first, then the oldest son, and so on until the woman and the baby of the family. By the time it got to the baby's turn, the water was likely no longer water. It was more like mud soup. So don't accidentally throw the baby out with the bathwater that you can't see through.
I've never seen a lucky knockout in my life, unless it was self inflicted. Punches and kicks are trained, and then thrown with the intent to do harm. No such thing as luck when it comes to that
the hate that belal is getting isn't fair at all. I understand he's not the most exciting fighter but he's not the only boring fighter there are too many others that are boring but they don't get the same hate. The hate on belal has just become exaggerated people are just jumping on hate the man because it's just fun to do.
I mean he has some annoying moments where he complains about weird things But people just tream him 10 times worse for doing it If Oliveira would complain about the same things that Belal would complain about, the community would be screaming how bad they treat him
@@MRios1128 i heard him and there's nothing annoying about him he actually a funny guy, and If this is a reason to hate someone who does not know you exist, I feel sorry for you
Jesus guys...Belal is ABSOLUTELY not hated for existing. Its his REAL personality. The limpdick, wet brain racial stuff, the excuses, the victimhood, prickly personality and the very many failed attempts to seem cool...THOSE are why people don't like him. One or two of those traits would be enough to justify disdain, Belal has em all.
@@ayouberriouch5973 never said hate. Just dislike. And izzy is izzy in his performances. He has a bit more leeway. Im just saying most, or at least a good portion of the disdain for Belal is justified. I know mine is because I can specifically point out things that'd make me dislike anyone who did them.
@@ayouberriouch5973 oh youre right, i initially did say hatred. But thats absolutely not how I feel. And its not outta nowhere, is my point. and I'd like to emphasize...my feelings towards Belal are only dislike, cringe and thinking he is a pretty uncool guy. I absolutely don't hate him or wish anything bad for him (besides that he lose to the fighters I like). I will say that those who hate him are doing so unfairly. Also I definitely don't think most fighters are like that....that's a stretch.
Totally forgot about DC. He was getting booed and hated a lot during his amazing run. DC is so popular now people tend to forget or just were not watching then.
Jones ran from Ngannou for 3 years and then when Ngannou left. He magically "decided" to come back and then called Francis a pussy. Jon Jones is a disgrace
The Ngannou haters made me dislike a lot of UFC fans fr. This guy went through hell and back to just make it to the UFC let alone win a World Heavyweight Championship and people really thought he was scared of any human being and that he was conceited because he wanted better for himself then the objectively awful wages he got with the UFC that has many PROFESSIONAL fighters having to take side jobs in order to make ends meet
He was also kinda a crybaby, selfish, self important liar too though. Dude blamed his bad spending habits on Dana, illegally entered France multiple times, ditched the team that let him box for free, etc. Kind of a prick
I could never wrap my head around the Tim Sylvia hate. I loved watching him fight and maybe it’s because I was just getting into MMA at the time so all fights were super exciting to me. I just don’t get the hate for him, and especially with the teasing him that made him cry after practice. Sucks to see him doing slap fighting for crumbs, hope he has stuff going on the side
He is like an average rural guy from Maine, he likes hunting and fishing, just he was like 6'8 and 265+ pounds. That may be why media never liked him as far as the mic he just a normal guy. From what I can figure he is a great guy but not the best with money. I say this because I've never heard anything bad about him but the idea he couldn't muster up $10k for his arm surgery makes me think he either didn't save money or had bad advice he followed.
@@MistaTofMaine his size is probably part of it because he could rely on it and not be technically good. man wasnt even shredded or anything, just large. and still got beat up by little ass Randy Couture. I feel like hes generally more mocked and disregarded, than hated and disrespected.
This expression, with its vivid image of a baby being tossed out with a stream of dirty water, is probably translated from a German proverb, Das Kind mit dem Bade ausschütten (“Pour the baby out with the bath”). It was first recorded in English in 1853 by Thomas Carlyle, who translated many works from German.
Aljo is such a weird case cuz he is a fun fighter to watch tbh fun grappler and good standup. But it’s the way he won the title and the weird fights after with claiming to be the BW GOAT. Close fight against Yan 2nd time, TJ with no arm and great performance vs Henry
@@jamescarey1622 you gotta get your eyes checked then, was a close one but Aljo did 10-8 Yan in a round. imo Yan won 3 rounds but got 10-8’d so at most would have been a tie aljo still champ off a knee
Including Colby on this list is crazy and I feel like you only did it to say something different. This list is fighters who are hated unjustly, not fighters who are good fighters and hated.
First 😂 Never remember rockhold showing class the first fight, good call. And Belal gets hate cause he acts like he’s destroying people left and right with K.O’s, when in reality, he’s dry humping them to decision.
Colby really is a problem and people just must not have eyes lol. The Usman that fought Leon in their second fight would have gotten destroyed by Colby. Wouldn't have even been close. Colby is just the person who had to fight Usman at his absolute peak.
Why must Colby fans brag about his losses to Usman? Colby is 2-2 in his last 4 fights. Both wins are from people who aren’t UFC fighters anymore. He barley fights and when he does it’s him diving for the legs for 5 rounds.
@@tylerrobbins8311 That's bullshit, and you know it. Everyone wants to fight Colby, but Colby is the one ducking fighters whilst cherry-picking aging (and washed) fighters; 37 year old Lawler, 38 year old Woodley and 37 year old Masvidal. All three guys are his only wins since 2019. Gilbert Burns wanted to fight Colby for years, Colby pretended he never even existed. Leon Edwards wanted to fight him back in 2021, Colby ignored and ridiculed him. Khamzat Chimaev wanted to fight him, not a peep was heard from Colby until recently. Belal Muhammad wanted to fight him, Colby pretends he doesn't exist. As for the fouls, they didn't lose him the fights.
Don't you mean the third fight? Unlike Colby, Kamaru actually had to worry about Leon's power because he got sent to the shadow realm by one of his high kicks. Leon did a fantastic job of neutralizing Kamaru's pressure wrestling, and using his superior technical striking to piece up and soften Kamaru's legs, knees and body to the point where Kamaru finally got tired in a fight. Colby would still lose to Kamaru.
@@madgavin7568 🙄 Right just ignore everything. Like for example Woodely ducking Colby and refusing to fight him but magicly his hands hes and fights Till on short notice. Then refusing to fight Colby but takes on Usman. That's a hard duck. Or let's talk about Burns who refused a short notice fight to face Colby but said Colby ducked him for the same reason. And Khamzat? The guy who Colby said needed a win to bring ranked but then just misses weight. Yeah totally ducking by Colby. Just because you don't like Colby doesn't mean he wasn't ducked.
Aljo is the exception, he deserves everything he gets and I wouldn't feel bad about it. I also don't think Sam was getting hate, it was a running joke for us, none of that was real
I always thought Sam Alvey got hate for not just being a UFC/Dana sycophant, but for his stance on fighter pay and fighter unionization. ESPN did a story on him saying he makes roughly ~$100k per fight (show money/Venum money), so I can see where people would take offense to someone who is basically an MMA jobber making that much money to lose while objectively better fighters aren't even pulling a third of that while winning.
Some valid points, some arguable points… Fighters don’t get a pass “that one time” when the bulk of their body of work reflects a certain dynamic or behavior. 💩 follows you around, and sometimes rightfully so.
Aljo acted his way to the belt, then fought an over the hill Cejudo, and now is fighting O'Malley because he refuses to defend against the #1 guy in his division. Aljo deserves all the shit he gets.
Your calling Cejudo over the hill only because Aljo beat him, he rightfully beat Yan the second time they fought, TJ went in there like a dumbass and fought with a bad shoulder, that's not Sterlings fault and you know him and Merab are teammates. They're refusing to fight EACH OTHER but people like you will always bitch and complain about Aljo no matter what he does. Colby is the one that truly deserves all the hate is gets, disrespecting the dead, peoples parents and all that. foh with that
the luke rockhold story was complete bias. Mike shook his hand after the KO, but then luke disrespected him and refused to shake his hand a second time after that
I remember Sylvia wanting to carry on fighting with a broken arm. His level of competition was not the guys fault! Not the most exciting sure but he deserves MMA fandom respect.
Honestly I just think belal hate is just xenophobia. That guy yelling usa in the crowd when commentary were like belal is from Chicago is certified example of just hating someone from where they are
Colby Covington is a nice guy in person. He’s honestly one of the coolest fighters I’ve seen in person, and probably one of the only ones. When I seen him at the gym, he will take pictures of fans in a middle of his workouts. Like that’s a definition of a kind guy. Colby even admits that all that persona is for TV because he was once called a boring fighter.
I think its good MMA on point didnt bring up that reason in this video, but that they hopefully talk about it fully in a dedicated video for the subject. Even though MMA is one of the least racist sports, its still there. Just a too heavy subject for a video like this
Belal should've been number one. 100%. I don't even purposefully go out to find hate posts, but the most I've ever seen have been about Belal. He's one of the greatest fighters right now and a kind dude.
haven’t watched but if Leon Edwards isn’t on here, that’s crazy. people prayed on his downfall and discredited his achievements/wins harder than anyone i’ve seen in a minute.
I think Sam Alvey is a legend for sticking around as long as he did. Anderson Silva and BJ Penn had long losing streaks but they were former LEGENDS. What has Alvey done? He is a master of negotiations.
