Warcraft lore is filled with a million characters, there are so many of them. When looking at the major ones they do tend to get a pretty decent spotlight, but at the same time, there are also some lore characters that no one cares about or even knows who they are.
When you play WoW you just see them as random npcs, take quests from them and don't look twice yet some of them have been in the lore for nearly 20 years and are some of the most key figures.
So what are 10 major lore characters that you don't know about?

Hey Doron! Great video. You mention that Meryl Felstorm is the first undead not associated with the scourge or Forsaken, but what about the Night Elf Banshees left over from the War of the Ancients, the undead and mummies used by the trolls for thousands of years and before that the "not-living" proto drakes spawned by Galakrond? It seems that undeath has been around for a very long time, far longer than Meryl Felstorm.

Nazgrel was Thrall's right hand "orc" for a LOOONG TIME and in any other reality when Thrall left in Cata, Thrall would have left the horde to him, but instead blizz went with Garrosh because drama and horde needs to be eeeviiillll

Also Tyrande tried to get Shandris and Jarod together one time but it didnt work and Jarod got married to another woman. But after she unfortunately died, they came closer once more and are warming up the idea but they 're still not a couple.

Pretty sure he won't be a warchief. With the end of BFA they did away with the title and pooled together like the leaders of the alliance. He'd more likely be a representative coleader to Thrall for the orcs.

Yeah he's not going to be Warchief while the Horde is led by a council Plus he's really old, so when the political change that'd allow him to be warchief, he'd likely be dead.

BTW I'd ad Broll Bearmantle to this list. I discovered him in the Stormrage novel and really liked the character. However, in-game he just has a role in the druid order hall and in BFA he just stood still in Magni's camp in Silithus. He needs some love.

He also stood around a couple times in WotLK durring the Alliance pre-expansion event (him being there not canon), and also durring the Alliance battle for Undercity.

Don't forget Shandris is Tyrande's ADOPTED daughter! Tyrande in the war of the ancients spotted her and took care of her for a little bit, which lead to Shandris being obsessed with Tyrande, she followed her round and in the end Tyrande had to give in and let her come with her, Shandris joined in the war with the sisterhood, people even mentioned how if you didn't know any better that they were biologically related because Shandris looks similar to Tyrande, which eventually lead to Tyrande adopting her as her daughter. Shandris also had a HUGE crush on Jarod Shadowsong (Maiev's little brother) which is touched on in Wolfheart that they had an interest in each other but had different goals so he picked a priestess of Elune and ran off with her instead of Shandris. Shandris never let go of her feelings for him and when he returned with his dying wife she basically hinted she's sad for him but also wishes the best pointing out that she still liked him, and back in the war of the ancients he thought she was attractive, a little young not far off finding herself a mate but still younger than he would have picked but non the less she had a mutual crush with Jarod Shadowsong. Edit: Didn't realise Jarod was Number 1 on the list when I wrote my comment but, Jarod and Shandris had a huge history together and we're huge characters in the books War of the Ancients trilogy as well as Wolfheart

Shandris also was a factor in malfurion not dying to xavius in the first face to face fight she fired a couple arrows at him as he was about to kill mal didn't douch but it distracted him long enough for Mal to force a retreat

It was mentioned really well in the war of the ancients trilogy, he completely put himself down regarding how amazing he was at commanding, he respected Ravencrest, even tried to prevent the assassination, but he left the military because he hated the limelight he got. Cenarius knew he was a great leader and accepted him even when he didn't accept himself as a leader informing all the other demigods to listen to Jarod

I agree with most of these characters. Wow has always had this issue, that some characters are over used while others fell to oblivion even though they're supposed to be really important. A little more balance is overdue. Btw I still have Vargoth's staff in my inventory in one of my characters, as I never handed his quest. I pop his image out every once in a while.

Gazlowe is the current leader of the goblins and is literally in Heroes of the Storm along with Chen. Chen has also many spotlights in the recent expansions... gtfo lol

I agree. I also seem to remember her being around lots for BFA as well as the pre-patch. I personally don't see how she fits on this list. While not a major toon, she is always around and active in quest lines.

I think Rommath should be here. The student of Kael'thas. He was also the messenger between the Blood elves that joined the horde and Kael's own forces. He is also one of the leaders of silvermoon. I cant remember where but he was comparable to Jaina but it was some time ago. He is very powerful but some reason he doesnt do anything in game. He made Aethas his pet and dunno why Aethas has gotten more screentime than him.

shandris feathermoon also refers to tyrande as her mother in shadowlands, probably not quite literal but tyrande could have raised her as an orphan i have no idea, or possibly is a mother figure in her early life,either way this makes them extremely close in terms of relationship.

Even from a developer standpoint, it does suck when characters get shafted or put aside. Though, what’s gonna keep you relevant...years down the road? New characters, stories, mechanics, etc. it’s good to keep some old stuff but there is so much stories in the WoW lore that it’s almost like a pick and choose what can we add to our new xpac. I will say this though: New doesn’t always mean it’s going to be good...so maybe in another game or down the line in the same game these characters might get spotlight.

Nor should you. draka never did anything of note except give birth to thrall. Yes she was also a warrior, but so were many women of the horde. I'm sick of Blizz trying to shoehorn characters into the game just because they were given a passing mention in a piece of lore ages ago or because they're related to some other NPC. Then they expect everyone to act like we give a damn about them, hell I don't even give a damn about thrall ..that's right I said it ... f'ing worst warchief the horde has ever had, and I'm including the evil ones when I say that. Say what you want about Blackhand or gul'dan but they never handed over the whole damn show to some rando that no-one, not even the rando himself thought could handle it just because they were friends with his daddy. lol

@@TheByron130 to be honest i like it when characters we know little about get their own in depth stories after their character arc is over but the way blizzard does this is annoying. if they were to introduce characters gradually. like, let's say we read stuff about Draka in some burning legion base or hear about her from some burning legion commander. This would make her appearance in shadowlands MUCH MUCH BETTER. blizzard's story management sucks. it is a trainwreck.

Nazgrel was major on WC3 , all hardcore WC3 fans know him and played with him Modera was always big , even jaina acknowledged she's stronger than her Shandris really ? She's kinda overrated not underrated mate, she is a pseudo faction leader For me broll bearmantle and archdruid hamuul runetotem are incredibly underrated. Rokhan being their third Rest of the list is legit

I don’t understand why you said Shandris is overrated, she didn’t do much in legion and she is only in the spotlight until recently. Shandris could have been the perfect character to lead the alliance military in the Broken isles in Legion like how Maraad did in Wod, she could also have played a much larger role in Garrosh’s version of siege of Orgimmar, shame blizzard didn’t do them. Broll is definitely underused tho.
