My father told me from an early age that people who believed in God were either stupid or insane. Now that I'm an adult in my 50s, im starting to share his view. Just have no time for these people - and I'm increasingly willing to let them know.

I’m an atheist and I have a tendency to be a little more nuanced. After all, I have good friends and family members who believe in god, and I don’t think they are stupid or insane. They are simply misled. I used to believe in god. I know what it’s like to believe. It’s a long hard road out of the matrix.

@@patrickwoods2213 All of that is true. I appreciate the comment because, although I understand, I have never had to deal wtih that myself. It must be a very tough and frightening road. Unfortunately, it's also why a lot of people never dare to question their beliefs - the consequences in terms of family, friends and community of losing faith would be devastating. Those who do dare have my respects - I can only imagine the courgae and intellect it must take.

That’s such an ignorant statement to say. I have religious and atheists friends of mine that are scientists and/or get along. Just because your personal experience was different and not so good doesn’t make Jesus Christ and his teachings untrustworthy or dumb. It’s like saying that because a scientist believe that the earth is flat, then every scientist is dumb. Really ignorant and arrogant to say don’t you think?
@scrumpymanjack
@scrumpymanjack 3 месяца назад
@@bointasalexandros6645 Well, one thing it's not is ignorant. That's the wrong word - but I'll let it go because English probably isn't your first language. Yes, it's an extreme view. Yes, it's intolerant. Are there very clever people who believe in God? Sure. Are they completely sane? I have my doubts. The one thing I'll admit here is that many people are religious because they grew up surrounded by it from the age of zero. I concede that it's very difficult to reject religion if everyone you know and love has been ramming it down your throat forever. I never had to find my way out of the maze (as one commentator aptly referred to it in this thread). And I'm not sure I would have been mentally sharp or strong enough to do it. My huge respects to those who managed.

Do you say that because you believe in the modern mythology that fish evolve into philosophers, and if you just wait a long enough *Time* puddles of chemicals can fizz into people? This is unfortunately the most widely funded religion today. *Did you know that Naturalistic Evolution shares characteristics of a religion?* In 1982 a federal court ruled that Creation can't be taught in schools because "it is not falsifiable." Evolution has a long history of radically rewriting itself as it runs into more and more problems - what would it take to "falsify" Naturalistic Evolution? Over 500 Living Fossils? Debunked "Junk" DNA? Finding a 70M year extinct *evolutionary ancestor to tetrapods still alive, unevolved, with no evidence of it ever evolving?* Discovering that many "vestigial" (leftover) organs actually have a normal function, like the appendix? Finding "millions of years" old creatures with no signs of evolution? Fully developed vertebrate creatures in the Cambrian explosion? An Ankylosaurus fossil found where it's not supposed to be buried among sea creatures? Whale fossils deep inland in the United States? Trilobites found appearing suddenly and fully developed with complex eyes in the Cambrian - and in every fossil layer indicating they were buried rapidly? Maybe measurably young tissues in dinosaur fossils that look similar to 4000 year old mummies or the Tyrolean Ice Man? ...or should we just reinterpret all of these problematic evidences to keep the belief in Atheistic/Naturalistic evolution alive, and why? We are all *uncritically indoctrinated* into this Atheistic-Naturalist religion of evolution in our public education system today... Should evolution be held to the same religious standard as Creationism? All of the best evidences for evolution can also be explained by Genesis 1-12, and if you understand "science" then you understand the implications of a competing explanation. *"The evidence of God... has been clearly seen since the beginning in all that has been created, so they will have no excuse"* (Romans 1:20)

@@user-of9qq6op5u Perhaps you can appreciate that my use of the word billions and billions was merely a term to indicate the almost unfathomable number of 'bodies' there are in the universe. Indeed, to even think that the universe 'is not endless', really comes down to a state of mind, since we really do not know ! Recent developments in radio technology (let alone visual telescopes) have resulted in images (solar systems etc) from distances far beyond what was thought to be possible . So the actual size (if size is the correct term) of the universe is really only speculative. Humans in general have difficulty of visualizing (let alone conceptualizing) something which appears to be endless. Light years maybe, but we can somehow conceptualize the distance light can travel in an (Earthly !) year. So maybe your suggestion that the universe is NOT endless, is based on the inability of the human mind to visualize/conceptualize something that goes on forever and forever and forever etc etc !.--- and then some !!!

How can you say believing in God makes people feel good? Believing in the Lord means that we are responsible for each of our actions, that we are judged for what we do wrong, and that we must tirelessly work hard to hold ourselves to a high standard of morality. How is that meant to serve man's worst desires or make them feel good? Your last statement is a completely faith-based statement. I can't understand how someone can believe god exists if we go through so much pain. Giving birth is a total hell, the pain is so difficult that is impossible to be put in words. And I had ptsd from it and nightmares and is a horror history. But I can only relate to this because is my pain. Out there in nature how many animals do suffer terrible pain are being eaten alive or giving birth and being eaten alive at the same time. If I was offered Nietsczhe proposal of eternal return I would definetively choose not to live this life again. And I am one of the happy stories that has a normal life and can put food on the table. What about people who live in misery. Because is far away from us is impossible to realise how real this suffering is. My most traumatising experience is being raised in a religious family. Being raised with brothers that have privileges. And are considered superior beings. And my mother is so deeply brainwashed that she can't see how wrong this is. I have to drive her every week to the church. We are in a foreign country and she doesn't understand the language (english) so only place where she makes friends is at Church. I can't deny her going to Church but being surrounded by this people, even for a few hours, is horrible. I suddenly become an angry person (good reasons I have!) Shouting and swearing at everybody. Because they say women are inferior to men. Going to church every week is severly affecting my mental health. My mother believes in the afterlife, she is very sick with multiple diseases that probably will make her life shorter. I don't have thr heart to deprive her from this fantasy that keeps her hoping. She is had a terrible life and experienced severe domestic abuse (with being hospitalised many times). But going to church is destroying me. I don't know what to do. My mum says I am being angry in the church because I am possesed by demons. How hurtful is for you mother to say that to you? I am living a hell because of religion. I want religion to be erradicated during our lifetime. We need to get rid of this cancer in humanity.

Nietzsche also stated that if you enjoy one moment in life that you say yes to all the suffering as well. The strongest trees have suffered many storms. They grow stronger partly because they endured. They are stronger because they grew deep roots, they bent in the wind and survived. The lesson is not in the suffering itself, it is what is left over after suffering. Choose to be strong enough to tell your mother you don't believe and she should not either.

A segment from 'Saved by the Light of the Buddha Within'... My new understandings of what many call 'God -The Holy Spirit' - resulting from some of the extraordinary ongoing after-effects relating to my NDE, when I was struck by lightning during September 1970. Myoho-Renge-Kyo represents the identity of what some scientists are now referring to as the unified field of consciousnesses. In other words, it’s the essence of all existence and non-existence - the ultimate creative force behind planets, stars, nebulae, people, animals, trees, fish, birds, and all phenomena, manifest or latent. All matter and intelligence are simply waves or ripples manifesting to and from this core source. Consciousness (enlightenment) is itself the actual creator of everything that exists now, ever existed in the past, or will exist in the future - right down to the minutest particles of dust - each being an individual ripple or wave. The big difference between chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo and most other conventional prayers is that instead of depending on a ‘middleman’ to connect us to our state of inner enlightenment, we’re able to do it ourselves. That’s because chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo allows us to tap directly into our enlightened state by way of this self-produced sound vibration. ‘Who or What Is God?’ If we compare the concept of God being a separate entity that is forever watching down on us, to the teachings of Nichiren, it makes more sense to me that the true omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence of what most people perceive to be God, is the fantastic state of enlightenment that exists within each of us. Some say that God is an entity that’s beyond physical matter - I think that the vast amount of information continuously being conveyed via electromagnetic waves in today’s world gives us proof of how an invisible state of God could indeed exist. For example, it’s now widely known that specific data relayed by way of electromagnetic waves has the potential to help bring about extraordinary and powerful effects - including an instant global awareness of something or a mass emotional reaction. It’s also common knowledge that these invisible waves can easily be used to detonate a bomb or to enable NASA to control the movements of a robot as far away as the Moon or Mars - none of which is possible without a receiver to decode the information that’s being transmitted. Without the receiver, the data would remain impotent. In a very similar way, we need to have our own ‘receiver’ switched on so that we can activate a clear and precise understanding of our own life, all other life and what everything else in existence is. Chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo each day helps us to achieve this because it allows us to reach the core of our enlightenment and keep it switched on. That’s because Myoho-Renge-Kyo represents the identity of what scientists now refer to as the unified field of consciousnesses. To break it down - Myoho represents the Law of manifestation and latency (Nature) and consists of two alternating states. For example, the state of Myo is where everything in life that’s not obvious to us exists - including our stored memories when we’re not thinking about them - our hidden potential and inner emotions whenever they’re dormant - our desires, our fears, our wisdom, happiness, karma - and more importantly, our enlightenment. The other state, ho, is where everything in Life exists whenever it becomes evident to us, such as when a thought pops up from within our memory - whenever we experience or express our emotions - or whenever a good or bad cause manifests as an effect from our karma. When anything becomes apparent, it merely means that it’s come out of the state of Myo (dormancy/latency) and into a state of ho (manifestation). It’s the difference between consciousness and unconsciousness, being awake or asleep, or knowing and not knowing. The second law - Renge - Ren meaning cause and ge meaning effect, governs and controls the functions of Myoho - these two laws of Myoho and Renge, not only function together simultaneously but also underlies all spiritual and physical existence. The final and third part of the tri-combination - Kyo, is the Law that allows Myoho to integrate with Renge - or vice versa. It’s the great, invisible thread of energy that fuses and connects all Life and matter - as well as the past, present and future. It’s also sometimes termed the Universal Law of Communication - perhaps it could even be compared with the string theory that many scientists now suspect exists. Just as the cells in our body, our thoughts, feelings and everything else is continually fluctuating within us - all that exists in the world around us and beyond is also in a constant state of flux - constantly controlled by these three fundamental laws. In fact, more things are going back and forth between the two states of Myo and ho in a single moment than it would ever be possible to calculate or describe. And it doesn’t matter how big or small, famous or trivial anything or anyone may appear to be, everything that’s ever existed in the past, exists now or will exist in the future, exists only because of the workings of the Laws ‘Myoho-Renge-Kyo’ - the basis of the four fundamental forces, and if they didn’t function, neither we nor anything else could go on existing. That’s because all forms of existence, including the seasons, day, night, birth, death and so on, are moving forward in an ongoing flow of continuation - rhythmically reverting back and forth between the two fundamental states of Myo and ho in absolute accordance with Renge - and by way of Kyo. Even stars are dying and being reborn under the workings of what the combination ‘Myoho-Renge-Kyo’ represents. Nam, or Namu - which mean the same thing, are vibrational passwords or keys that allow us to reach deep into our life and fuse with or become one with ‘Myoho-Renge-Kyo’. On a more personal level, nothing ever happens by chance or coincidence, it’s the causes that we’ve made in our past, or are presently making, that determine how these laws function uniquely in each of our lives - as well as the environment from moment to moment. By facing east, in harmony with the direction that the Earth is spinning, and chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo for a minimum of, let’s say, ten minutes daily to start with, any of us can experience actual proof of its positive effects in our lives - even if it only makes us feel good on the inside, there will be a definite positive effect. That’s because we’re able to pierce through the thickest layers of our karma and activate our inherent Buddha Nature (our enlightened state). By so doing, we’re then able to bring forth the wisdom and good fortune that we need to challenge, overcome and change our adverse circumstances - turn them into positive ones - or manifest and gain even greater fulfilment in our daily lives from our accumulated good karma. This also allows us to bring forth the wisdom that can free us from the ignorance and stupidity that’s preventing us from accepting and being proud of the person that we indeed are - regardless of our race, colour, gender or sexuality. We’re also able to see and understand our circumstances and the environment far more clearly, as well as attract and connect with any needed external beneficial forces and situations. As I’ve already mentioned, everything is subject to the law of Cause and Effect - the ‘actual-proof-strength’ resulting from chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo always depends on our determination, sincerity and dedication. For example, the levels of difference could be compared to making a sound on a piano, creating a melody, producing a great song, and so on. Something else that’s very important to always respect and acknowledge is that the Law (or if you prefer God) is in everyone and everything. NB: There are frightening and disturbing sounds, and there are tranquil and relaxing sounds. It’s the emotional result of any noise or sound that can trigger off a mood or even instantly change one. When chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo each day, we are producing a sound vibration that’s the password to our true inner-self - this soon becomes apparent when you start reassessing your views on various things - such as your fears and desires etc. The best way to get the desired result when chanting is not to view things conventionally - rather than reaching out to an external source, we need to reach into our own lives and bring our needs and desires to fruition from within - including the good fortune and strength to achieve any help that we may need. Chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo also reaches out externally and draws us towards, or draws towards us, what we need to make us happy from our environment. For example, it helps us to be in the right place at the right time - to make better choices and decisions and so forth. We need to think of it as a seed within us that we’re watering and bringing sunshine to for it to grow, blossom and bring forth fruit or flowers. It’s also important to understand that everything we need in life, including the answer to every question and the potential to achieve every dream, already exists within us.

Do you say that because you believe in the modern mythology that fish evolve into philosophers, and if you just wait a really long *Time* puddles of chemicals can fizz into people by chance? That we are all 'just chemicals" or "meaningless evolved protoplasm" in a meaningless amoral universe that doesn't care? Because if so, that contradicts your desire for something "better," "kindness," "compassion" - it's all just meaningless chemicals, literally chance chemicals fizzing in your brain about meaningless things. Nothing can be truly "good," "bad," "right," "wrong," etc. you are the cousin of cockroaches, cancer cells, leprosy, and death - evolution does not care about your "kindness" "survival" "compassion," and there is nothing "ugly" about floods, etc. - it's all just chemicals. You're contradicting yourself my friend. Nothing you're saying here makes any sense, from your worldview's perspective - every time you refer to such meaningful and valuable things you are borrowing that not from your meaningless amoral universe that doesn't care, but from the image and likeness of God programmed into you, and I love that He put that into you because that is powerful evidence you can see in yourself that He exists. As for the "anti-gay rhetoric" - have you ever read any accounts of gay people who used to be gay but switched to being straight? Like Anne Heche? Or the growing detransition movement - have you ever listened to the heartbreaking things they have to say? According to the CDC in 2015, 19% of the LGBT+ community has HIV, compared to only 1% of the world community which has it - why such disparity? Surveys conducted among older LGBT+ people also shows that approximately 20% of the community has had over 1000 partners in their lifetime and didn't even know half of them, roughly half have had over 500 partners and didn't know half of them, and about 20% of the population has had over 100 partners in their lifetime and didn't know who half of them were... which explains the high rate of HIV transmission. I'm surprised you are supporting such a harmful and dangerous dehumanizing lifestyle - it's not "love is love," it's more accurately confusing promiscuity with "love." I personally think promiscuity, unfaithfulness to your current/future spouse, spreading life-threatening disease, cheapening the beautiful gift of sex, and perverting God's good design for marriage is what is "ugly" and I'm surprised that you are okay with these things.

Nevertheless, the fact is that you (and all that there is) exists and depends upon the intelligent power of the atomic structure within the core of its being , to exist at all. Maybe it's time to move on from Roman barbarities and graduate to something more relevant such as the existence of all that is (including yourself and the millions of others). -Not forgetting the universe of course !!! Look at the structure of what we call matter-- it is not solid (remember NOT SOLID ) but a powerhouse of molecules or atoms etc. The same right throughout the universe. Now try to formulate some theory that all this creative power came (and continues to exist) from nowhere. One might well consider that everything exists via a Creative power, (God) ---although even that word power is totally inadequate since it does not encapsulate the essence of all that is ! @@garlic_greed Actually it's not that hard to prove at all. God is a Super-Natural phenomenon. The laws of nature are obviously "Natural" phenomena. To attempt to limit a Super-Natural phenomenon by "Natural" standards is to commit a simple logical category error. In the biblical worldview, God created these mathematically precise laws of nature (Jeremiah 33:25), including time, space, and matter themselves (Genesis 1:1), and thus He necessarily exists beyond those "natural" limitations. The bigger issue, as an Atheist, is the laws of nature contradict themselves at certain points, making a 'Natural' explanation of our origins impossible. *The only way for "Nature" to create itself, is if "Nature" is Pre-Existent - like God.* The 1st law of thermodynamics doesn't allow energy to "naturally" come from nothing. The 2nd law of thermodynamics (entropy) says energy is always being converted into a "less usable form," and it doesn't allow energy to remain usable forever - but our universe is full of usable energy. So if our universe couldn't "naturally" have a beginning from nothing, and if it can't have just existed forever (otherwise all of its energy would be burned up), then *how can you "naturally" explain the beginning of our universe?* Have you ever wondered why Atheistic-Naturalists (evolutionists, etc.) have to invoke such wild and sci-fi sounding theories to "naturally" explain our origins? *Infinite* alternate universes, an *eternal self-existent* singularity, alternate unobservable metaphysical laws of nature, *pre-existent* Phenomena.... you have to suspiciously attribute characteristics of the Supernatural God to "nature" in order to "naturally" (atheistically) explain our origins. Can you see the problem? Atheistic-Naturalism is an internally inconsistent and self-refuting Supernaturally-Natural (!) worldview - it's unavoidable. *The only way for nature to create itself is if nature is pre-existent - like God.* *'The evidence for God... has been clearly seen since the beginning in all that has been created, so they will have no excuse"* (Romans 1:20)

Given its history of constantly being rewritten as it runs into more and more problematic evidence, what would it take to falsify the Theory of Evolution today?* In 1982 a federal court ruled that Creation can't be taught in schools because "it is not falsifiable." Evolution has a long history of radically rewriting itself as it runs into more and more problems - what would it take to "falsify" Naturalistic Evolution? Over 500 Living Fossils? Debunked "Junk" DNA? Finding a 70M year extinct *evolutionary ancestor to tetrapods still alive, unevolved, with no evidence of it ever evolving?* Discovering that many "vestigial" (leftover) organs actually have a normal function, like the appendix? An Ankylosaurus fossil found where it's not supposed to be buried among sea creatures? Whale fossils deep inland in the United States? Trilobites found appearing suddenly and fully developed with complex eyes in the Cambrian - and in every fossil layer indicating they were buried rapidly? Maybe measurably young tissues in dinosaur fossils that look similar to 4000 year old mummies or the Tyrolean Ice Man? Early jawed placoderm fossils showing fully developed complex jaws - causing evolutionists to claim that they must have evolved, de-evolved, and then re-evolved those jaws to maintain their story of shark evolution? What if scientists admitted that Human-Ape DNA is down from 99% "similar" to only 84% "similar" and admitted their bias in "humanizing" the ape genome? ...or should we just reinterpret all of these problematic evidences to keep the belief in Atheistic/Naturalistic evolution alive, and why? We are all *uncritically indoctrinated* into this Atheistic-Naturalist religion of evolution in our public education system today... Should evolution be held to the same religious standard as Creationism? All of the best evidences for evolution can also be explained by Genesis 1-12, and if you understand "science" then you understand the implications of a competing explanation. *"The evidence of God... has been clearly seen since the beginning in all that has been created, so they will have no excuse"* (Romans 1:20)

(There are only 10^90 particles in our entire universe... food for thought...) Or, when all the necessary proteins required for life formed themselves by chance in a puddle, and then formed themselves into all the necessary cell components inside of a cell enclosure, *how did they overcome the known problem of hydrolysis which inhibits protein formation in water?* Or the Faint Young Sun paradox, which measurably suggests our earth would have been frozen solid 3.5 billion years ago when this was supposed to happen (if it was really billions of years old)? *"we've not made the RNA in a prebiotically relevant manner. It hydrolyzes too rapidly."* (Professor Saztech, Chicago, 2021) [Regarding Abiogenesis] *"Chemistry is actually hard to get to work. The molecules precipitate. The molecules hydrolyze. The molecules decompose. And so it's very much a constraint that you have to deal with.. it's one g-d problem after another."* (Steve Benner, former Harvard Professor, Director of Foundation for Applied Molecular Evolution, 2019) *"Liquid water is generally considered a key ingredient for life. When the Sun was much fainter, the Earth with its present atmospheric composition would have been frozen solid. If the oceans were frozen, life may not have formed" (Quote: NASA).* God has made His work abundantly clear. For someone to hold to a non-God position (Atheism) is to utterly stare science in the face and reject it a priori in favor of a constantly rewritten mythology that fish evolve into philosophers. *"The evidence of God... has been clearly seen since the beginning in all that has been created, so they will have no excuse"* (Romans 1:20). Common sense put into the vernacular. Excellent presentation indeed! Religion is a carry-over from antiquity. Modern research shows that religion grew out of incredibly hard times. It provided the neurological crutch to strengthen people. It was misguided but was indeed adopted as the ultimate avenue of salvation and eternal rest and enjoyment from existing in such times of severe hardship. Additionally, it was an instrument of control by the church to spread it's influence over the governing leaders and hierarchy of the time. Blind faith resulted in the people capitulation to church and government.

You've described man's religion perfectly. But Jesus is no more a religion than you or I. You cannot use science to prove that George Washington existed, because you cannot observe it, cannot measure it, and cannot repeat it. So you have to use the evidence that he existed. Same goes with the life of Jesus Christ, and there is plenty of it. More evidence of Jesus exists than that of say, Plato, Caeser, amd Tacitus. You can even view Pontius Piliates report to the emporer Tiberius about Jesus, in the Acta Pilati (in digital form from the vatican online library). Science is the discovery/revelation into the vastly superior mind of God that created the universe, planets, humans, etc. The mathematics behind it all is absolutely beautiful, the symmetry is astounding. To consider that it was all due to a random happen-stance event, that we're all just a collection of matter and energy requires a faith that even the most devout follower of Jesus Christ would be envious of! Once you put your faith (and it's not blind faith), in Jesus, the blinders come off your eyes, and you can truly see the world for what it is, and what is going on in it. When Jesus said that 'the truth shall make you free', He really meant every singe word! John 8:31 - _“...If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”_ - Jesus

The record of evolution is still surprisingly jerky and, ironically, we have even fewer examples of evolutionary transition than we had in Darwin's time... Some of the classic cases of Darwinian change in the fossil record... have had to be discarded or modified as a result of more detailed information."* (D. Raup, "Conflicts Between Darwin and Paleontology," Field Museum of Natural History Bulletin 50, no 1 (1979), 25) We had to be created somehow - you can either believe that God made man and woman from the dirt, or you can believe that dirt fizzed itself into man and woman by chance - I just don't have enough faith to believe that dirt can do that. Let me ask you this... Charles Darwin met the gold standard of science (a methodology) by giving a testable hypothesis for his theory, saying "if an *organ* were discovered which could not possibly be explained by numerous, successive, slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break down..." *How did male and female evolve?* Before you answer, consider that these are two separate, yet interdependent, precision tuned sets of organs that all have to be working just right or reproduction, life, and evolution fail. For example: The fallopian tubes are lined with millions of these little hairs that all wave the same direction, and their purpose is to guide the egg from the ovaries down into the uterus. If they stood still, laid flat, waved the wrong direction, or didn't exist - the egg would either die or it would implant in the fallopian tube thus killing the mother. Some of these are known medical conditions that prevent pregnancy - "Evolution" had to get these millions of hairs just right.... "by numerous, successive, slight modifications." *Simultaneously* the sperm has a whip like rotor, a motor encasing, a bushing like material, a nutrient transfer system, and several other components that all have to be working *just right* or the sperm can't find the egg. Reproduction and life fails. "Evolution" had to get the interdependent parts of the sperm "just right" ... "by numerous, successive, slight modifications." *Then* you have the placenta which does everything for the baby including keeping the mother's and baby's blood separate, the expanding and contracting uterus and cervix, the mechanism which only allows one sperm into the egg, and numerous other components that all had to be *designed* just right, or reproduction and life fails. "Evolution" had to *SIMULTANEOUSLY* get all of these just right "by numerous, successive, slight modifications." Which gender evolved first, and how did it reproduce while the other hadn't evolved yet? And going backwards in time, which of these critical organs do you gradually reduce first "by numerous, successive, slight modifications" without causing reproduction to fail? *"“Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’"* (Matthew 19:4). Such *specified complexity* looks like the product of an Intelligent engineering mind, not the result of chance fizzing chemicals in a puddle. @@mikescollard6499 I would like to try to understand why people (like yourself maybe?) believe literally the words of a book which has been rewritten, rebranded, translated and retranslated countless times over 1500 years. And even then based on accounts which were decades old in the first instance. I honestly do not meant to be combative. I am just genuinely interested as to what people find in this source to consider it reliable as a source for all truth about our reality and the universe. For me, I have read many parts of the Bible (and the Qu-'ran for that matter) - and neither (for me) should be considered any more *absolutely true* than a newspaper article that I read 20 years ago.

Psalm 14:2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures 1 John 1:8-10 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. Romans 3:19-26 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Romans 10:9-11 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. John 3:15-18 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:3-7 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. Romans 5:1-2 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Galatians 1:3-5 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Following Rene Descartes meditation Category 1: Minds I exist and I am a mind. Therefore Minds exist. Category 2: Matter I have feelings. These feelings originate from sensors in what I call my body. The sensors are receptive to stimulation from events created from within my body and from events created from outside my body. The stuff that bring about these events I shall categorise as matter. Thus my body is also made of matter. Therefore Matter exists. Category 3: Space My body needs space and matter in general needs space. Matter can exist only in space. Therefore space must exist. Category 4: Time My body needs time to change and matter in general needs time for change. Matter can change only in time. Therefore time must exist. From the above observation I conclude that these 4 categories permeate each other and exist equally with none more abstract or less abstract than another. Now to the question of the origin of these categories Could it be that any one or more of these categories can be made from any one or more of the remaining categories? Could these categories transform from one to another? Matter needs space and time for its existence, therefore without space and time matter will not exist as such matter could not have been the origin of space and time. From physics it has been observed that space and time can give rise to matter spontaneously. As such matter maybe a result of a localised change to space and time. So then could space and time be the origin of everything else? Again from the theory of the Big Bang all space, time and matter originated from this singular event. Therefore space and time could not alone have brought about the other categories. Since the big bang was an event, could it be that all things are made from events? Where there is space, time and matter there is always an event. There can be no space , time or matter without events. In an instant all of space and the matter is nothing more or nothing less than a set of events. So then space, time and matter is one and the same as a set of simultaneous events from one instant to the next. From this observation the 4 categories can be reduced to 2 categories Category 1 : Minds Category 2 : Events Now then can minds exist without events. We know that simultaneous events give rise to feeling in minds. We know from special relativity simultaneous events cannot give rise to anything physical or material. Therefore feelings cannot be physical or material. Now as feelings are a part of minds we must conclude minds are not physical. Now can the mind exist without feelings OR does feelings create the mind, that is one and the same as the mind? If feeling create the mind then as feelings are created by events then space, time and matter which we have concluded is the same as events, must also have feeling and thus be one and the same as a mind. Thus we would need to conclude a rock has a mind or is part of a mind to the same extent that my brain is a mind or is part of a mind. This conclusion is not palatable as such let’s consider the OTHER alternative Now if a mind can exist without feeling then we also know that the mind can create events. (e.g throw a rock, move a finger) So then given that the mind can create events then the big bang (The Event) could have originated from The Mind in order to evoke feelings in other minds. These other minds may have also been created by The Mind such that the earthly life of each mind is the big bang that determines the eternal or heavenly life of that mind in The Mind. philpapers.org/rec/DESCAS www.jcer.com/index.php/jcj/article/view/1020/0

Do you say that because you believe in the modern mythology that fish evolve into philosophers, and if you just wait a really long *time* puddles of chemicals can fizz into people by chance? See, I think He did program you with that knowledge, and while you suppress it - we all observe it in you. Specifically - *for some reason you live in contrast to the atheistic "we're all just chemicals" belief system, but perfectly in line with everything the God you reject said about you instead as a valuable human being made in His image and likeness - why do you do that?* That is powerful evidence you can see in yourself that God created you, and that you're not just "meaningless evolved protoplasm" in a meaningless chemical universe that doesn't care about you, and I love that He put that into you so you can see clear evidence in yourself that He exists. God said you are a meaningful and valuable human being made in His image and likeness (Genesis 1:27), with purpose and a capacity for "dominion" over creation (Genesis 1:26), morality and a sense of justice (Genesis 9:6), a sense of respect towards others (James 3:10), and a conscience which reflects the principles of His law (Romans 2:15), among other things. These are observable qualities that we all observe in you, and being made in God's image and likeness makes perfect sense of that. I know you don't believe in God though - so how do you explain these observable qualities in you from your own atheistic "we're just chemical reactions" worldview? "Do you believe meaningless chemicals fizzed together in a puddle, and somehow "human beings are valuable"? Or do you believe that chemicals evolved, and somehow "rape is wrong"? Animals do it all the time, and chemicals destroy each other all the time... and the atheistic worldview holds that we are evolved animals, and just chemicals... what's the difference?" *"They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them."* (Romans 2:15)

Interesting that more and more, atheism is looking an awful lot like a religion. There's dogma, holy writings (the works of scientists), priests and prophets (the scientists themselves), evangelical missionaries (those who try to win over others to the cause), intolerance of other religions, perpetuation of inaccuracies about other religions (i.e. that if you want to be a Christian you need to reject science, believe in the inerrancy of the Bible, or that you must take it literally, or you must believe it's the only way), ad hominem attacks (claiming that religious people are stupid or intellectually lazy), the unwillingness to accept that atheism is just one among many legitimate belief systems, and not the only way. Those characteristics describe just about every exclusive and extremist religion out there.
