He has one of the sweetest swings. Pure torque from the core and hips. We are talking about a SS turned 3B (both dominated) as well as 5th most HR of all-time.
I’ve been waiting for years for this... 2007 A-Rod was the best year any Yankee has had at the very minimum since Mattingly’s 85 mvp year but in all likelihood the best offensive season since Roger Maris’s 61 homer season
Y Marina for sure. Just in terms of individual performance he was off the charts the entire season. 09 was just getting hot in October (which I know is more important)
I feel like 2007 is when he finally started feeling comfortable on the Yankees. 2008 was kind of a one off due to injuries. Then he was to clutch in 2009 helping lead them to a championship.
@@teejaysalgado9819 I mean, AROD was HORRENDOUS in both the 2005 postseason and 2006 postseason, and he was bad also in the 2007 postseason but not horrendous.
I don’t like how all these highlights of him just hitting homers. The dude was five-tool-player. Won gold gloves and everything and we just staring here watching him hit hrs
I'm a huge M's fan and growing up in Seattle where A-Rod is heavily disliked, I'm certainly in the minority when I say that he's one of my favorite players. Was fortunate to get his autograph before a Mariners game back in '06/'07. Made my life as a 12-year old lol.
Tito Rivera lmao shut up “Tito” love him or hate him he’s a classy man he’s the goat in and out the field just look at his life after retirement. A great role model unlike you
@Brayden Hall yeah he is one of the greats for sure, Ive seen people call him average. The guy was an perfect role model for me growing up can do anything on the field and was never involved in PEDs or anything to scandalous.
Brayden Hall he was one of the worst defensive short stops lmfao. Very little power. Incredible contact hitter and dominant on the bases. Let’s not blow him out of proportion...
itz Duffy ill take 300 less hits for 400+ more HRs thanks. Their avg is about the same but A-Rod’s OPS is off the charts... Jeter is middle of the pack. And A-Rod is a + fielder and arm, Jeter is - fielder. Pretty simple really.
I remember going to 1 game at the Stadium that year, A-Rod doubled against the D-Backs in a day game lol, amazing he never went on more postseason tears like '09.
He would have finished with 500+ homeruns and over a .300 batting average even without steroids. Also he is one of 4 players to ever hit 40 homeruns and steal 40 bases in one season. He did that in 1998 way before steroid use. He (and Bonds) should be in the Hall of Fame.
So many people hate a guy who screwed up big in the middle of his time with the yanks. That’s his problem that he has to deal with but you can’t take away the talent he really is from when he started. And his knowledge and technical understanding of the game is just incredible.
I was probably in the 20% that loved A-Rod as a Yankees fan. He earned every penny of that contract and if it wasn’t for his monster clutch 2009 post-season, we don’t go on to the World Series! …. And the guy was hardly ever hurt. Look at guys today with big contracts. They play 80 games a season. If that!!!
@@mturley8414 , absolutely bro. And if David Ortiz made the hall of fame, A-rod should make it in with first ballot. Over 3,000 hits and over 600 home runs. Every season he averaged like 200 hits, 30 home runs or more and 100 plus RBI’s. His seasons were as consistent as anything I’ve ever seen. I loved that he was a Yankee.
@@jd0696 Me too my man.. Difference between Arod and poppi is that poppi had a better roid dealer who didn’t get caught.. The Mitchell report had them both tested positive and yet Arod the only one who really caught shit for it.. I can guarantee roids are still very heavy in the game
Loved this Yankee team A rod, Jeter, Matsui, Abreu, my favorite of all time Cano, posada and that old stadium whenever you saw that Canon sign you knew it was danger, every Yankee team every year was a dangerous bunch no pitcher ever had a day off playing against us Dont understand how you become a Mets fan having a better NY team in the Yankees
No matter what they say about him he still had to swing the bat and hit the ball. He also had incredible bat speed to drive the ball and the sweetest swing to go along with it.
Yes, but understand how ped works bud. It help him with recovery, so he was able to play consistent at a high level. It's cheating because while other players will slow down, he kept going strong cuz of the ped help. Understand they play 162 games a year with playoffs and recovery very short. Adding on spring training too you have a lot of wore and tear on the body. The older you get, the harder it is. I say all this respectful. Arod to me is one of the best ever. My favorite player. When people write this comment, they clearly not using logic no offense
I saw the tittle and I added it to my playlist to watch it over and over and over. This was an amazing year for alex. I remember that line up. 😂😂💪 #13. The crowds reaction in that homerun 7:24 i was there that game💪😂
Im a few yrs late. Love that the comments arent filled with roid talk. Old days they took greenies (speed) to stay on the field. This man was a beast all tools till his hips went.never forget that Roids dont make you hit the ball. It just kept them on the field like the old timers doing greenies
It was Alex, Ken Griffy JR., or Barry Bonds from that era who was the best. Bonds was probably the best of the bunch due to his overall skill set. He walked a lot, and stole over 500 bases while playing gold glove outfield. Young Pre 1999 Steroid Barry bonds was still easily an all time great. Just wish he hadn't got so jealous of Sammy and McGuire. His Ego got in the way of his easy HOF case, despite his horrible Diva attitude.
Alex Rodriguez tremendous yankee tremendous power display i was so glad that he came and stayed a yankee till he retired he's what we needed another fine piece to putting together that championship yankee team of 2009 I loved Alex being a yankee he's such great clutch player in game situations he's was perfect for getting us out of trouble and saving the day for all yankee fans he was an updated version of Reggie Jackson only right handed and great defensive skills as well he played 3rd base very well a yankee forever and a well deserved hall of famer
@@estebandelacruz2193 I'm over it. Nelson Cruz's error and Feliz's choke job doomed the rangers during the 2011 run. Despite that, Josh Hamilton's 11th inning HR should have won the damn game. He gives them a freaking 2 run lead in extras, and they can't hold it!
A controlled balanced swing that he used to consistently barrel up the baseball. Lots of players swing so hard trying to hit the 500 ft HRs-don’t need to do that. How many lasers did ARod hit to straightaway center?
Is stuped how the same Yankees end with his career... If they let him finish his last season he deffinetly will reach 700 HR... They just don't want to give him the 7 millions extra bonus.
Dino A few years after this A Rod was caught for steroids. Then caught for it again a few years later. The hope was A Rod could take the home run title back while doing it clean, turns out he was just as if not more juiced up than Bonds. Suffice to say public opinion on A Rod went down the toilet and the Yankees had to pay him through 2017 even after releasing him. A Rod simply was not effective in 2016.
Yeahh he was batting only .200 as a DH and they were trying to get into the playoffs. He could've went to Miami to get his 700th but he opted to retire
The reference to Alex being 4 rbis short of tying Joe Dimaggio as most Rbis as a yankee is wrong. Lou Gehrig has the most rbis as a yankee. He had 184 in 1931..
