in Finland, family restaurants always offer a starter salad table, where you can pick up a starter salad, while the main course is being prepared in the kitchen.
This is my 2nd day following her advice. She's so right to the point! No energy crashes and at the moment I'm writing this comment, it's been 6hrs since breakfast and no hunger and no snack in between! I'm 44.
@173paige I don't have a morning routine breakfast, but I just follow ehat Jessie said: veggies and meat protein, and sometimes I add carbs with the protein, like potatoes, and I'm still okay, no glucose spike/energy crash and it sustains me for hours with no snacks in between 😊 Thanks, Jessie Inchauspé!
Just started following her - I wear a CGM so I can see how things effect my sugar immediately. Last night I had a salad first, chicken parmesan, and then pasta. There was virtually no spike at all in my numbers which is outrageous. Usually my sugar spikes pretty high, but by just eating a salad first, it changed everything. Crazy!
I’m a teacher and at the school I work in we feed them breakfast. We feed them mostly cereals, breads, juices, low-fat milk, all sweet. Its hardly ever anything savory. I’ve think it’d be much better off eating protein and then they’d have a better day of learning. It’s also teaching them and reinforcing unhealthy habits.
I love to have boiled eggs for my kids to eat in the morning. I notice a huge difference when I have a high protein/healthy fats breakfast vs when I have something sweet.
Thank you, your information is very helpful. This is now I called “ the state -of -the - art of healthy eating. I also first watch your interview with that Indian Doctor to which am a also a subscriber. I am a Senior, a Filipino and even I live in America for about 10 years now my nutrition is still based on guess work following the menus I have been used that is satisfying to us. Our menu is all in one ; fish with one or more vegetables in it. We eat them together in one spoon, fish vegetables and rice to our heart’s content. Our problem in Not on sugar but on our Cholesterol that is very high. Please help us in your future research . Thank you.
What I love about this guest is that no one food plan works for everyone. Or everyone would do one thing. So having the freedom to know my body and find a path that is versatile that allows me to satiate my curiousity for diverse foods and flavors. And still my glucose is steady for the first time in my life while eating a much more diverse diet-and thats from a former Ketovore-only person for years. I LOVE that I can live in a much more well rounded way that makes me happy.
Eating vegetables first has awakened my enjoyment of them. I'm trying a variety of vegetables in a salad with a olive oil and vinegar dressing (olives, snap peas, tomatoes, romaine), two hard boiled eggs, grapefruit, and red cherries for breakfast. I enjoyed all of it. I have more energy to prepare food. I feel quite a bit happier.
I am doing this now . Thank you Jessie, I am so enjoying your book , The Glucose Goddess Method, so informative and also great recipes, it is a life changer , feel better and cravings are no more.
I want to learn how to cook and eat differently. My family members deal with a variety of wide ranging health issues all, I believe can be and are being affected by what we put in our mouths. I need to cook differently and these hacks are helpful to me just listening now. I'm the main cook in the home and not only am I learning some things I need to know while learning to change how I cook. Besides that this is a great service to provide your listeners. It's enlightening. Congratulations on the host and the guest too! This is great!
Look into dra natasha campbell mcbride, she knos the cause and cure of all chronic illneses. For free without drugs, just food. Once you start listening you dont want to stop. Blessings
Congratulations for your video! I never have any sugar spikes following that order. I don't eat any added sugar, but fruits and quality starch yes( burning them with intensive running)
I also do that everyday, my logic was eating the greens first because they don’t taste that well, same logic as traditionally leaving dessert for last, thanks for letting me know it was good!
Thank you so much 🙏🏻, I've tried this, and it really works fine for me, I used to get so sleepy, and my heart goes fast after having my breakfast, but after starting eating vegetables before it, all these symptoms are gone!
I start my meal with a few bites of lean protein first. Then I combine the veggies with a salad and fats as I continue to enjoy my meal and towards the end of the meal, sometimes I add a small amount of carbohydrates. I find that I feel very satisfied and feel very stable in my glucose response. No cravings. Its wonderful.
Short summary of this part of the interview. If I missed a point, feel free to add them below :) 1. Veggies first, then protein, then carbs 2. Eat slowly 3. Stop counting calories 4. Have a savoury breakfast (protein, fiber) 5. If you eat fruit, eat it as a whole. Keep the fiber! (No juicing) 6. Put one tablespoon of vinegar in a big glass of water and drink it before your meal. 7. After you eat, move. (Calf raises/ taking a walk) Thank you for yet another amazing interview! I'll try the hacks and buy the book!
This became pretty much my life style when I started to cook the traditional recipes of my culture. I stopped buying food from outside, limiting it to only special occassions or emergencies. I even started to make my sweets at home. Vastly improved my health, because cooking is also an activity
Absolutely spot on, echoing the best known researching doctors of this area, especially Dr. Fung. I truly believe this woman saved my life. Because she breaks it down a lot better than the doctors that are saying the same thing, but in a more science-termed, complex, and overblown way.
You should really eat low carb with diabetes. Don't get carried away from anything you hear. Eat extremely low carb . And yes probably is the best to eat it as kast thing in a meal.
You can actually reverse Type 2 with low carb & IF without the need to take diabetes meds, which worsen how you feel bc of side effects. The sooner you do this the better to avoid consequences like painful neuropathy. I wish I had know this info when dxd in 2010. Or well before to reverse insulin resistance. I highly recommend The Diabetes Code by Jason Fung MD. Fabulous book that will reveal why we get diabetic to begin with and how to reverse it w/o medication. Explains everything but in an encouraging way that doesn't make us feel hopeless. You've got this! Btw, I improved kidney function by changing my diet w/keto and intermittent fasting, while eating whole food. The fasting can be done later if you just change what you eat you can work up to the IF. Good luck on your journey!!
This is amazing! This is the answer I was looking for! I was a 2nd and 3rd helpings kid when I put on all my excess weight and have just maintained that relatively same excess weight ever since... I would go for sugars a lot lol, I loved potatoes and pasta lol but usually at dinner if all groups were separate, I'd get the veggies out of the way 1st and i would save my favorite for last... like steak idk. Perhaps a large problem is a lot of meals everywhere is they are all mixed together.
She is brilliant- I have been sugar I mean totally with out added sugar in my diet for over 1 year - I feel amazing at 57 I sleep better - healthy and alive!!!
Oh my god, I’ve been eating in this order since I was a teenager with an eating disorder… I’m 34 now and largely recovered, but still have some hangover habits… this is one of them. But my reasoning was that I wanted to save the best / most “indulgent” until last 🙈and also prioritise veggies because I thought they would fill me up sooner so I wouldn’t eat so quickly. Also I adore vinegar and have been an avid consumer since childhood 🤣
Honestly, this order is how multi course meals would be served in Italy, France, Greece. Veg or salads, then protein, side dishes of starch, long slow meals and small desserts last. Mediterranean living really nails it in so many ways. Just imagining the long, slow, lovely meals overlooking the ocean under a sunny sky, then a leisurely stroll after...oy. 😂
Hi Jesse...I love your videos, they help me a lot in day to day life...one query My nutrionalist suggested to taka a lime shot(equal amt of lemon juice and water..1:1)after every meal to make the gut alkaline...what does your research say?
Magnesium is involved in over 300 + enzymatic functions of the body Tinnitus is a symptom of magnesium deficiency Skin is the largest organ in the body Rub magnesium chloride flakes (bath flakes) dissolved in mineral water / magnesium chloride flakes dissolved in a good cream otherwise the water separates from the solids & that just defeats the purpose Switch to GLUTEN FREE GRAINS & LENTILS High ( good) fats Moderate protein Low Carb diet + intermittent Fasting & notice along with weight loss so many other symptoms disappear
As an Indian, I’d eat most of my meals in the order mentioned here. Breakfast would consist of variety of nutrients, never had fruit juice, instead always a whole fruit. Suddenly I’m more thankful to my parents for ensuring I do it the right way. ❤️
@@iyengarromasha then don't generalize as indian. Indian food are specially vegetrian are starch heavy1. Low fat and low protein. India is the diabetes capital.. so don't generalize about indians. Talk about your food items .
@@rrajaratnam not sure which foods you’re referring to, but the India that I know def has a lot of variety that offers the required nutrition, provided one knows how to consume and what to consume. The kind of millets, the veggies, the breakfast items, even the homemade snacks, they are far far better than the packed foods. No need to get offensive.
No matter how good a thing, there will be someone who will say it is bad and also no matter how bad a thing there will be someone saying it is good. So listening to all this will only destroy ourselves ,the best way is to follow our instint.
@@amyc7547 any brand will do as long as it has no additives. Powdered form only and not caps. It's also called glucomannan. You time it so that you have about half a tablespoon of it exactly 15 mins before any meal that has refined carbs. Bit like a cheat meal mitigator. It forms a super sponge gel in your digestive tract that beautifully slows sugar spikes right down dramatically. Nothing else will do a better job. Don't use it before a healthy mea that contains little to no carbs though because unfortunately it can interfere with nutrient absorption but only if you overdo it. I used it daily for years with no negative issues. Happy to answer any further questions. It cured my acne.
Thank U Jessie !! For teaching me i can have a variety foods :):) as I am a 65year old male and a x-carnivore diet,x-keto, diet, x-vegan diet, x every extreme diet under the sun lol ..again thank U both .. :)
I really enjoyed this content and believe what she said made a lot of sense! One constructive piece of advice I'd like to give, just because I'm old school, please lose your choice of the f bomb and the b word. It makes you sound very unprofessional! Otherwise, I really enjoyed this type of informative interview and really like your energy and style!
Hi Dear, thanks alot, I beat my diabetes just changing my eating patterns and walk after food. My old hb1c was 9.4 and now it is 6, and gradually better everyday.
I totally agree! I'm so glad I did keto for many years, I learnt so much from how brainwashed we are when it comes to food and health. I don't do keto anymore, but I have eliminated sweets in my diet. I live a low carb life!
@@felipearbustopotdyes and no. Much of this is how people still eat in Italy, Greece and France. Lunch and dinner begin with salad or veg, vinegar and oil, then fish or meat, pasta or potatoes. Post dinner walking is still common. It's really western countries that don't do this
Aging faster, depression, PCOS geeeeeez if only there was evidence of the difference between short term glucose spikes and long term harm….o wait there is! Unreal! More food anxiety podcasts! 🙈
Thanks a lot for sharing this info. I was a compulsive eater and would stuff in food like crazy. But after starting Ayurvedic HAIP Diet my cravings have vanished and I can control my excessive eating. I also lost 49 kgs doing this.
Well,I very excitedly got to work and prepared my veggies, then protein and fat, btt I was done, it looked so good(and taste so good) I've forgotten what carb I was craving.
She is such a genuine & honest person. I really hope her father feels less sad and gets to see his daughter. Thank you for having this goddess on. Much love.
Regarding eating vegetables first, the stomach processes them all together before passing them to the intestine. I'm curious about why the stomach prioritizes the order of digestion based on what is consumed first. When you pop the stool doesn't come out based on which you ate first. Of course what I am talking about is a single meal .
I was thinking the same thing. It’s not like you’re eating broccoli and it immediately starts coating your intestines. I would think your carbs are going to end up getting down there at the same time, unless, I guess , it’s in liquid form.
It isn't about that, it's about slowing your blood sugar spike. If you consume sugars and processed carbs first your sugar is going to have a massive spike. If you eat green vegetables or protein first, there isn't much there to spike you sugar, and when you and your carbs at the end there is enough protein, fiber, and fat to slow the glucose absorbtion.
Yes, eventually it's all together. But if you dump sugar into the stomach alone first, the blood sugar spike is almost instant. If you dump fiber, protein and fat first, then carbs, that spike doesn't happen. Try it yourself, monitoring your glucose, and see.
VPS: 1. Veggies first, 2. Proteins second, 3. Startches last. - Veggies have fiber. Fiber stays in your intentestines as a sort of barrier and then prevents glucose molecules from going through as easily. This then prevents your blood sugar from spiking as much.
