It does hurt as I heal, there are some days that are worse than others, those days I stay busy, however it gets better everyday with time. Little by little I care less until eventually I will not care anymore.

@@Naruto16315 Toxic? In what way? We had a normal relationship in the past. Luckily, he likes to communicate and we didn't have toxic issues. So when he left, I was surprised. External issues may have affected the relationship. Like the stressful job he got a few months before he left, financial struggles, his brother's death, etc. I also went through traumatic experiences outside the relationship that made him worry a lot about me. The breakup made us work on all those issues on our own. I've learned that you can't truly work on a relationship if you can't work on yourself. And now, we've grown and learned how to balance it all.

I feel your pain... what's crazy to process as in my case, it was simply a misunderstanding! We were video chatting one night (did it every night she was at home/had WiFi, long distance thing) and when we met she knew going in I was bitter about an ex that dumped me after 4 years. I brought her name up WAY too much in Hindsight, but not in a good way, but as a constant reminder of what I never wanted to happen again...anyway, I think she was about to drop the "L- word" ...and I either sensed it, or she asked me obliquely about it...and me being Mr. Comic at times, I said (just kidding!) "Oh Man! I'll never love again...and I'll cut my tongue out before ever using that word again " (something like that...) well, she laughed, rolled her eyes, we changed topics... but I see now that she (like most women!) Kept that remark frozen in her memory...so as time went on, we crossed the one year mark, I was going through some personal things (I trusted her, so I leaned on her, shared everything with her..) and maybe it was too much? But out of the blue, she ended it...yet, would meet me out tomorrow if I was in her city. I think I took her for granted, plus, based on a truly bizarre, kinda creepy relationship she had with some weirdo years ago, I think she truly doesn't know how to be happy? Once I gave her a dose of his a REAL relationship looks, she didn't know how to proceed...anyway...30 days NC is coming in 4 days after a botched get together...and her birthday is in 10 days.... I may reach out just to rattle her cage being that she's in Colombia, I'm here...see what happens. I have to stay in her field of view to stay in the game. I've already set the rules...no friendzone bullshit...but, you can't totally ignore them either if you want them.

The overwhelming majority of them do. I know someone whose ex reached out after 11 fucking years - just let that sink in. But, they often reach out when you’ve moved on and genuinely don’t care about them anymore.

@@gookinstein I broke in early January when I heard that she got Covid. We talked for a while until she moved back in with her family. I fell back when she started talking to me sideways to me over her own unhappiness with life. She sent me an apology a few weeks later. I checked on her once, but I'm talking to someone new now.

Feel for you. My wife left me 10 November, told me it was finished 12 December. Hurts all the time but I've told her I accept she needs to do what's best for her. We still have some communication and I'm hoping to use it carefully and sparingly to either reattract or to get strong and move on. Instead of becoming an emotional mess and telling them how much you miss them and how you'll fix things, tell a friend, a stranger or write it out. Don't send any message or tell them how you feel if its crying, pitiful and undignified. Be strong.

@@alexprz83 Didn't get her back... Last thing I heard, she was seeing a new guy (he was already in the picture while we were in a relationship, so I'm not suprised). That helped me move on. I also met another girl I really like, things are going well with her. I still think about my ex quite often, but not through rose-colored glasses anymore... I've started seeing again why she was bad for me, and why I broke up with her in the first place. Stay strong mate, time and space makes things better. If she doesn't want to reconcile, she's not worth your attention! Just focus on yourself for now. Self improve, take up new hobbies, go out and meet new people, take steps in your studies or career... This is the stuff that is going to heal your wounds.
