I always admired Blair over Serena. Blair worked hard for everything she wanted and got. Serena always got by with her looks. Yes, Blair was a mischievous person, but at least was honest about who she was. Unlike Serena.

Her work ethic,determination and devotion to people she loved is why even with her shady behaviour it's easier to sympathize with her than others who were nicer like Serena who had stuff handed to her but somehow manages to victimize herself or Dan who complained and judged them but his biggest accomplishments were through them or their lifestyle

Blair’s popularity is vastly helped by the fact that Leighton Meester nailed the role all the way til the finale, whereas Blake Lively was never able to fully embody Serena’s appeal and stopped putting in effort with her acting altogether halfway through.

I really love Blair, she is one of my all time favourite tv characters. One thing that really dissapointed me with the show was how they handled her eating disorder; in the books its really obvious, in the show it is mentioned maybe 2 times. Leighton could have given this so much depth, but has never given the chance.

I agree. I know in the show she was supposed to be to a point where she'd already received help - I think they didn't want to put it in the show in fear of backlash or criticism of how they would've handled it but I personally would've loved to see it. A lot of fans seem to even forget that part of her character because it's only mentioned a time or two like you said.

Akria23 I dont agree. I think it was portrayed the best way possible as her eating disorder didn't become or make her character as most of the time illnesses like that do in media. Especially would hate if they used that to describe why her character the way she was. When we think Blair Waldorf we don't think bulimia, we think queen! Maybe they could've referenced it more but I believe the way they did handle it was perfect. The show isn't 13 reasons why ( don't get me started on how harmful that show is to your mind and especially teens going through actual depression!) and media nowadays gets so stuck on accurate portrayal that we forget the density of what it is. It's horrible and real for people not just an emotionally compelling performance! And we watch shows to teach us lessons, connect to characters, and entertainment. The way a show makes you feel after watching it shouldn't be stressed, triggered or drained. So the show did a good job of mentioning those real life issues without putting too much emphasis.

My favourite moment was at the end of the first season during Lilly's fourth wedding. Blair asked Serena how her and Dan were after the previous fiascos. Serena said 'I'm working on the forgiveness part.' And Blair replied 'What do you have to forgive? If anything, he's the one who has to forgive you.' That's the best moment because she was straight up and honest with Serena, despite being best friends and the intense situation.

‘I have to be Blair Waldorf before I can become Chuck Bass’ girlfriend’ is the most iconic line of the show. It speaks volumes because it’s true that you need to live for you before you live for others and you need to learn to love yourself or how can you love someone else. Such a badass moment and badass line. When she was able to do that she found her way back to him. She slays 🙌🏽

Gossip girl is one of my all time favorites and blair has a special place in my heart! I love her character and I love how leighton portrayed it. I also love her relationship with chuck (although kind of problematic) and that chuck wasn't just blairs love interest or vice versa. They were their own person, with or without each other. Also, most of my favorite lines are hers lol

The biggest difference between Blair and Serena's schemes were that Serena acted like she was nice and better than Blair. Blair was loyal, whenever she attacked on Serena it was a retaliation to what Serena did first. The Ostroff reveal? Her best friend slept with her boyfriend and abandoned her for a year. Dan dating Blair? Dan and Serena weren't together, and Blair tried not to be with him and only after asking for her permission did she actually date him. Agreed, Blair was scheming and mean, but to others, not to her own friends. Whenever Serena had troubles, Blair stepped up, even if they were fighting but Serena never did. That makes Blair a far better friend than Serena ever was. Because how many of us can really forgive our bestfriends for cheating with their boyfriends not once, but twice?

@@eiffelviolet nothing actually, other than drama, which is what this show revolves around, but when you take that, it isn't a good relationship, they're both toxic and damaging to each other,specially Chuck to Blair, every other girl he ever had he treated them with more respect than he ever treated Blair with, he even sold her to his uncle for his hotel, and when she had found a good man, he became all possessive and in one of his fits, he even cornered her in a wall and almost hit her in the face,instead hitting glass which still ended up hurting her, the fandom romantices all of this and comes up with excuses left and right for his behavior, but all in all, he was awful, and the only way that they made him look like the best guy, was to always make the other guy in Blair's life suddenly bad just so he could be her "white knight" when he treated her worst than anyone

Blair is a character that under any other context I would despise but I'm head over heels for her thanks in no small part to Leighton Meester's performance. She's not a very good person but the only other character on the show that approaches her depth is Chuck. At the beginning,I was on the fence about Blair but liked Serena beautiful,nice,charistmatic but by S2 she got boring cos she had everything handed to her yet always mess up and never take responsibility or clean up the mess(it was hard to be sympathetic towards her)

I just completed the last season last night, after putting it off for years and years, and now I'm going through major Gossip Girl withdrawals :( I already knew Dan was GG (still unbelievable) because of spoilers, and twitter going absolutely insane back in 2012. But what really gets me emotional is, Blair and Chuck will never bless us with their onscreen chemistry presence again. Leighton Meester as Blair Waldorf - what an incredibly talented actress, Blair will always be an iconic character, I loved her sass, and one-liners.
