Thanks for the video. Yall's hair seems to have some much movement, when do you use JBCO on your scalp? Is it closer to wash day? I love JBCO but can only use it on scalp with curls, braids or buns because in weighs my hair down after a few days.
@twolala1
@twolala1 8 лет назад
Yes, a few days before getting it washed because it builds up :) We hardly put anything in our hair the first 2 weeks of getting it washed, and as it gets closer to wash days, that's when we use products :)

+TwoLaLa I have kept my hair in a bun for about a year and sometimes flat iron it. When if was near the end of the year, I paid to go on a field trip but my mom wanted to do my hair but it was in clumps and had naps but she combed through it. Now my hair is short and uneven. My hair has heat damage. Now I'm going natural but I don't know if what I'm doing is correct. I have been washing my hair with Motions Professional Neutralizing Shampoo and conditioning it with Emergencia and Mielle Organic's Mint Deep Conditioner(Heard stars used this product to grow their hair). After that, I put a plastic bag over my hair and leave it in for a couple of days then I rinse it after those days. I spray my hair with water and comb small parts of my hair and put Coconut Oil and Babassu Oil in my hair and then put it in small balls. Then I leave that in for a couple of days then I take it out. I just want to know what I'm doing right and wrong with my natural hair.

Definitely do not leave the deep conditioner for more than a day, usually the directions give a certain amount of time that the deep conditioner should be left in your hair
@myahall57

+tanya danchor Thanks for the advice
@moonzy172
@moonzy172 7 лет назад
1. You'll need to gradually trim the damaged ends off. Half an inch a month is a good amount. 2. Only use the neutralizing/clarifying(?) shampoo once a month as it really strips the hair and can make it very, very dry if used too often. Use a regular shampoo weekly. Nothing fancy, just something to get your hair and scalp clean. 3. When deep conditioning, you can leave it in for as little as 10 minutes, or as long as overnight. Some women do leave it in for multiple days, but try different timings first and see if it helps your hair. Check the instructions on the container, also. 4. Buns are a great protective hairstyle. To avoid your hair getting matted again, detangle it whenever you wash it. Get a cheap conditioner, and apply it liberally to your hair. Then, twist your hair into 4-10 sections, and detangle each section very carefully. Incorrect detangling can cause more damage to your hair - work slowly and do not rip through your hair. I use a denman brush and it's great at getting rid of my tangles, but I use it very carefully. Detangling is slow and boring, but it will reduce the amounts of knots, matting and breakage you are experiencing. 5. Only use combs/brushes on your hair once a week, when detangling. 6. Continue spraying water on your hair daily or whenever it feels dry, and apply a small amount of oil afterwards. This will keep your hair moisturized throughout the week. 7. Leave your hair alone as often as possible. This is key to healthy hair. Most breakage is from mechanical damage (i.e. using combs, brushes, putting your hands in your hair). If it's not breaking off, hair will keep it's length and health. 8. Consider other protective styles like two-strand twists, or extensions. You'll notice amazing hair growth and health with two-strand twists.

Imani Mann Thanks Imani!!! We have that issue with our scalp sometimes too. Whenever it flares up, we use a shampoo with tea tree oil in it and really massage it in while washing it. Lesia our hair stylist used a Paul Mitchell shampoo with tea tree oil in it and it really helps. Also there's this oil from Eden Body works line called Peppermint Oil ( tea tree is in it too) and I like to massage in my scalp before bed and it works really well with the itching. I only use it whenever my scalp starts acting up, and it's amazing!!

Thanks!! Yea, I noticed shedding too when I first started extending washes. It doesn't shed that much anymore because maybe my hair got use to it. Occasionally, I'll have a bit more shedding one month when I do stretch longer, but for the most part it isn't too bad :)

Congrats on the baby! hair doesnt shed much at all during pregnancy...and then abt 3-4mnths after baby is born, its like all that hair that stayed put for 9mnths just falls out excessively. It is perfectly normal..still no fun. Just make sure to stick w a healthy diet and take vitamins (biotin is good) and get good rest to help as ur body adjusts back to normal n hormone levels also. Protective styles or low manipulation styles during these next few months will def help u not notice so much n therefore not stress about it. just keep hair moisturized too. best of luck! --mother of 4

Is it okay to just sleep on satin pillowcases instead of sleeping with a bonnet on?
@twolala1
@twolala1 8 лет назад
Yea if you put your hair a certain way that doesn't require a scarf or bonnet, then sleeping on a satin pillowcase is fine. We like satin scarfs and bonnets to keep our wrap together at night. Wrapping our hair keeps it from getting all over the place and getting tangled while we sleep, so a bonnet/scarf is just extra security :)

Please don't miraculously all of a sudden go natural! I think about relaxing my hair eveyday but still natural because thats what everyone else is doing.
@twolala1
@twolala1 8 лет назад
Whatever you feel is the best way to care for your hair, go for it. If relaxing it is the way to go, then go for it. If you want to keep it in its natural state, go for that. Don't do it because everyone else is doing it. We're able to take better care of our hair when it's relaxed, which is why we do it. I feel like people make relaxed vs. natural a bigger deal than what it is..lol it's just hair.
