I could see this class being pulled out of mothballs during the dominion war and being used as strike craft travelling in squadrons like birds of prey.

This class should be a frigate or maybe a Corvette class made for patrol duties and policing space in heavy contested sectors. Excellent world building and background story skills you have. The Akyazi Class was the 23rd century version of the Echlon Class. A simple starship used as an interceptor and space station defender and security class patrol craft. I like that the starship was an early version of the Defiant Class by 78 years.

This is the class of ship that should had been built. If built, I would had been given the power, a ship assigned to a station depending on the distance from Sector 001: the farthest stations getting two ships, and the one mid distance getting one ship. Kind of how the U.S.S. Defiant (DS9) was assigned to DS9.

Awesome video. I've known the Akyazi class and it's sister classes since childhood and even managed to download the original book. I also encountered the Akula variant of this class in the game Star Trek Legacy.. Is there a chance we could get the Belknap class next ?

All I can say is....... NAILED IT!!!! I mean wow. Perfectly written with the usual Federation to Starfleet head butting UNTIL shite hits the...errr....deflector dish (aka fan...LOL). Then....RED EFFING ALERT!!!! 12 ships and 456 lives because "peace" .....and it gets built. Mr. TAS, was this ship ever so slightly inspired by the USS Franklin class? I can see a few cues possibly taken from it. This is one ship I would love to see a set of schematics made for. I would even try to donate some funds if needed if I was able to get a set. LOL. There's a channel that has done some amazing work with Star Trek ships named "Half Screen". I love to see you too work together to created a Beta/Beta Class ship that you, TAS, did a brilliant job bringing life to! I don't think I've been more excited about a new design as this. I can see an unknown ship (USS Reliant) approaching. Since this ship would have what we call "stealth" tech today, and Khan's arrogance to study anything first (WHERE'S THE OVERRIDE?!?! WHERE'S THE MUDDA-FOOKING OVERRIDE?!?! If the rating was different you know this would have been said...lol!) So he would have been handed his Party like it's 1999 ass. Captured....and sent off the Section Thirty....Section.....oh yeah Section whatta-who? LMAO. And with the USS Endurance saving the day....we would have gotten a Star Trek 1.5 "Khan's Tantrum" and all would be well. So sorry. I went off on a caffeine inspire warp speed story telling session. There's just so much to explored with this ship. Like all the crew is on Regula 1. Special prototype comm and transporter badges. Danger is detected and the crew is automatically beamed onto the Endurance. Hopefully if you were in the head or getting....head trauma looked at by Nurse Chapel, the "Smart Series 3000" transporter would realign, and uniform you, to the ship's cargo bay for IMMEDIATE mission briefing. Ok.....sweet mother of pearl! Look at what I've written! If you've read all of this....comment below. I might have to reward ya if TAS will let me! GOD I LOVE THIS CHANNEL!!!!

Thanks for the video I think it makes sense to ships that are made specifically protection so the bigger vessels can do the exploration and peaceful things the federation love to promote

Sounds very similar to the Soyuz class' mission profile only that one was so focused on the customs and law enforcement side of being a first responder that Captains like Morgan Bateman actually fitted flashing blue lights to the hull just to fuck with local traders. Also Bateman had a space parrot...

I'm still amazed people remembered this ship. Given when it made it's debut there was no real internet to speak of..

Another ship that takes heavy inspiration from the Akyazi class would be the Akula class from the Star Trek: Legacy videogame. I always liked that ship, and would love to see some background lore created for it. (Also, due to being beta canon, there is better-known class ALSO called the Akula class with a vertical warp engine layout. This is sometimes known as the Apollo class, and is NOT the class i'm talking about)

Nice class with warp 8 being a good speed and warp 12 which would be now 9.04 or 9.05 on the new scale ⚖ roughly. I'd ask for it and do a major refit for 24 or 25th century. Maybe get it to meet the Discovery later on. Time travel 😌

I remember this ship from star trek star fleet command o. Pc way back when.

Great video…interesting ship…almost looks like a USS Franklin refit of sorts. One problem…the probe that was looking for humpback whales…immobilized everything with an electrical signature. Using that as a reason to build a new class of defensive ship wouldn’t make sense as it too would have fallen victim to the probe. Kahn and the destruction of the Enterprise make much better arguments. Nothing major…just an observation that even the Federation council might have seen.

The Defiant class of the late 23rd century

I know there are two variants of this ship. This one, and one with a wierd, oversized... underslung... sensor... rollbar... thing that I'm not sure what it is supposed to be.

I feel like there could have been a USS Defiant in the Akyazi class.

Not having any shuttles seems like a huge oversight; I guess you have to land the entire ship if you happen to need to drop off cargo or personnel on a planet that has one of the many phenomena that prohibit the use of transporters...

On star trek legacy there is the akula class

Listed as Perimeter Action destroyers, in several starship literature sources. There are a few differently armed variants, usually with heavy / mega phaser pylons.

The saucer section looks like it might've inspired the neo constitution in Picard s3

I like the ship. But all in all its a Defense ship in name only.

This is the real story of the Akyazi class perimeter action vessel, as written by the creators of the class,, and the two sub classes. I highly recommend it.

i can understand the absence of a swimming pool and bowling alley, but Impulse Engines seems to be something difficult to do without. the provided visual model has somehow overlooked including them. honest curiosity has me ask, where are they supposed to be located?

How about a video on the Belknap and Decatur-Classes? Starfleet Strike Cruisers. I've always loved those designs and I think they would be an interesting story to tell.

Since you asked, I'd like to see you folks do a series of vids on the three Akyazi Classes, the Akyazi, the Akyazi/Arbitur, and the Akyazi/Akul class.

Why is the ship the USS Endurance NCC-1054 in the video, different than the one in the book, which shows it as the USS Tensas, NCC 1054. And this correct class is an Akyazi/Arbitur subclass, one of the three classes of the Akyazi family of ships.... However this is a pretty good video....
