For those wondering why roll crimp. A star crimp on a shorty is a hassle unless you shorten your crimper on your press. We hate mosquitos. I love mosquitos said no one ever. Take care
Cant wait to see he buckshot . I do 6 oo buck , 19-20grn International , X12X , 2- 1/8 felt , clear over shot . New Rio hulls w/ Cheddite primer , cut to 1 7/8 and roll crimped . They run without the opsol in my 500 . With 18.5 barrel , good pattern at 20 yards .
I made so shorty 20 gauge shells. Most worked ok, had a couple that pooped instead of pow’ed - one fell apart… I tried gluing the overshot wad on, then started roll crimping and it worked much better
@@ClarkesonTheMarksman Yeah we were filming a buckshot video and it’s all we had at the time lol but it was all in the head from about 10 yards so it all worked out
" bullseye" would work in s short shell like that... Ive got data here for 1oz loads in 12g with bullseye...ive made 2.5" loads with it...very clean And consistant
Hull question for you. I just picked up a bunch of Federal 12 gauge 2 &3/4 top gun hulls, but they have the white plastic base wads instead of fiber. Similar to a fiocchi by looks. What load data would you use? Federal gold metal? Fiocchi? Thanks.
Any data for a straight wall hull will work. Fiocchi, Cheddite, rio, Nobel sport, estate and more. Just don’t load anything to max pressure and you’ll be good to go. I load all straight wall the same.
That’s just what the factory chooses to do. If you reload you can fold crimp whatever you want. Most slugs are traditionally roll crimped but they don’t have to be. It’s sort of a carry over from the days before fold crimping was invented by Remington in 1960.
