You are very smart and you don't push established narratives about things, which I respect. I'm thrilled that my most recent lipid profile was excellent! I'm a pretty healthy guy...I exercise, eat fairly well, and I take a few high quality supplements including fish oil, ubiquinol and berberine (natural metformin substitute), but anyway my profile looks even better than I thought it would...TG 55 and HDL 83. All values but my TC are in the "desired" or "protective" range. My TC is at 240 but I'm not concerned. I just eat a lot of pasture raised eggs, which are one of the best foods you can eat!

Intermittent fasting and some long term fasting is about the only way to reverse IR, along with zero sugars, very low carbs, and lifting weights. I’ve eaten 95% meat for 16 months and only when I fast for up to 72 hours, can I get meaningful ketones. My weight went up almost ten pounds and came back down to where I started. Its work to reverse IR once it starts cause its a storage issue. Not saying it can’t be done but it can take a long time, even a few years.

I reversed my insulin resistance in 2009 through diet. I probably had PCOS since menarche, which was in 1993 for me. By 1995, I had skin tags and negris acanthosis, other symptoms came later. I was a skinny teenager and ate what was considered a healthy diet, and I was never a big eater, but I suddenly gained 43 lbs at age 18, and only a ketogenic diet would help. I lost 30 lbs in the first 13 days! But per 90s dieting, I returned to my regular diet...gained back 83 lbs...went back on a ketogenic diet and lost 59 lbs and was at my ideal weight! (I had a growth spurt when I was 20, so my ideal weight had gone up.) In 2008, my endocrinologist told me that, when I came back next year for my annual appointment, I would have either diabetes or hypothyroid, or both. So I changed my diet, this time not just temporarily. And I lost 42 lbs in 4 months! I never had a bad diet, but I apparently have hyperinsulinism, and have probably since menarche. It took 5 years before I gained weight but signs of insulin resistance were accumulating ever since then. Now, since I had COVID, the ketogenic diet no longer works. I have skin tags and even though I am on a strict clean keto diet, I still gain weight unless I give up cheese and cream, and I become faint without them, because I cannot eat mammalian meat due to probably Alpha Gal Syndrome, so I cannot get enough fat and calories to avoid fainting umless I eat 1-2 oz cheese or cream daily. I and up with high ketones in urinalysis but no breath ketones. Any ideas? Heard about anything like this before? The only way I have avoided rapid weight gain is to take biotin and alpha lipoic acid. Without that, I gain 2 lbs every month! On keto! Makes no sense to me. Any insight as to what might hypothetically be going on, which I could suggest to my doctor to help me figure out what changed, would be much appreciated!

I had 3 of these symptoms and got gestational diabetes during my pregnancy. I’m fit and work out but I didn’t realize that my longtime daily smoothie had 100 carbs in it alone from all the tropical fruits banana 😮 which was causing insulin resistance. Now I skip the smoothie and do savory breakfasts and my gestational diabetes reversed, I got off insulin. I also achieved this by ACV twice per day for 6 weeks until I was able to get off insulin, and eat in following order: veggies, protein/fat then carbs/some sweets at the end. Postpartum I will continue this lifestyle. It took getting used to buy now my cravings are gone and I feel high energy throughout the day ❤🎉

Yes, I've been insulin resistance for a very long time. Just didnt understand why. Thanks Kait for the spot on video. Darkening of skin down their, skin tags, yellowing skin under the armpits, athlete's feet itching and redness, stomach fat, high blood pressure, swollen ankles. I counted about 7. I've changed my diet a few years ago, now I'm just dealing with stomach fat and somewhat high blood pressure. My main issue is keeping up with walking and exercise. Which is why I'm still dealing with some fat and blood pressure being not great. First step is the diet and then the walking or exercising. That's all it takes to heal and be normal again.

Hi Kait, thanks again for all your advice! ❤ I finally had a breakthrough with my healing journey 😄 I was doing keto/low carb to solve health problems and it was going great, until I developed a crazy rash on my neck that kept coming back. Now I take two glasses of water with acv per day and the rash is finally gone 😄 Looks like my stomach acid was too low, not allowing me to absorb the nutrients that I needed. Before low carb and fasting I had: high blood pressure, high waist ratio, skin tags, heavy and long periods, abdominal fat, sugar cravings, acne, excess hair growth. Now my waist is very slim, I have hardly no abdominal fat and no sugar cravings and significantly reduced acne and facial hair. My main problem is estrogen dominance though. Which is why I have a big fibroid. But everything aside, I have noticed major improvement with my health 😊

As a 72 years old male, my waist/height calculates to 0.48, so no issue there. + Triglycerides/HDL is 1.1 mg/dl. ++ I don't have skin tags or swollen ankles, dark skin patches or acne. + + + + If anything, my BP is a bit on the low side (90/xx to 110/xx), though this causes no noticeable issue. + Though a performing musician long, long ago, I was a euphonium player, not a menstrual. + Having weaned myself off most (but not quite all) sweat/junk foods, except some fruits, I don't get sugar cravings between meals. In fact, I don't get hungry at all between meals, including those days I skip deliberately skip lunch. + As to abnormal hair growth, I'd be happy if I could get it to regrow where it's supposed to. + Sadly, I do have fat in my abdominal area; not a lot, but it's there. -- I urinate more frequently than normal during the waking day. Lying abed at night, for several years I was getting up to urinate far too frequently. Following recent diet changes, I now urinate only once during the night. It's possible (but not certain) that I might get by without urinating at all, except that I need to replenish CPAP humidifier water at least once per night. Soon as I stand up to do so, BAM!, I have to relieve myself, pronto. -- Sodium levels are abnormally low. Not (yet) low enough to require medical treatment, but low enough to require frequent monitoring. -- There you have it, only three negatives, one of which (abdominal fat) I consider almost insignificant.

athletes who run typically use common electrolyte tablets to keep from cramping, retain more water, and deliver what the cells of the body need to keep functioning. that one little salt tablet could serve to both increase sodium levels AND reduce the need to urinate at night

Hmm, only 1 a total inability to lose weight despite restricting what I eat. My BMI is 28 and I have been on a low carb diet since 1.1.23 making healthy choices and restricting calories to 1400 per day (I'm 52 and only 155cm) but apart from the initial first 2 kilos, I've stalled for 7 weeks now. I did a monk's fast a few days ago and it wasn't too bad. The next day there was a (temporary) weight loss but the day after, the weight was back on. Argh!

👍🏽. You definitely aren’t lying about meds for hypertension. They only treat the symptoms. They don’t cure it. Once you are prescribed for it, individuals are taking it for the rest of their lives. I know this only too well. I blame my teaching career (1990-2012..retired ten years) partially for it. In fact, my meds were changed twice during my career due the headaches I was having. Benezepril which I think is an “ACE” inhibitor is what I have been taking to this very day. No side effects. Also, I’ve made a decision to remove my regular consumption of beef and chicken from my diet. How come? When I did so over a year ago, my blood work showed my cholesterol had dropped some. Since then, I had resumed grilled beef and chicken regularly. I saw my doctor recently for hives. (possible histamine issue) My cholesterol has gone up yet again. He’s trying to get me on a statin..(his dad tried to get me to do so years ago) ..sorry, I don’t trust those meds. At any rate and as far as proteins are concerned, berries, cod, eggs, green vegetables, and salmon are staples. The intermittent fasting stays too 😂. Beef and chicken once a week? I’ll get it together. Trial and error no doubt.

Be careful with the green veggies, especially spinach and kale, as they contain oxalates. Look for videos with Sally Norton and see her book, Toxic Superfoods.

Thank you, thank you. I have most of these indicators yet I exercise every day, seriously, and eat healthily. So if I could add a comment for you to consider. I live mostly on vegetables and fruit for my main meals and was thinking this was healthy eating. But, seem to have insulin resistance. I took a good look at my diet and discovered a few foods could be damaging. I eat crispbreads and have a wide variety of spreads on them, plain yoghurt, Nutella mixed with yoghurt, peanut butter , nothing, butter, cheese spread , scrambled eggs, banana, marmite, honey. All in quite small amounts obviously but enough to suggest they are causing insulin resistance. I don’t like bread so eat crispbreads. Out goes the Nutella, peanut butter, honey. I shall make my own avocado spread and make one using cooked lentils and so on. Let’s see what happens!

I am post menapausal and keep waking up at 3 or 4 a.m. and cant get back to sleep. My diet is good. Low carb good fat and protein. My ratio of triglycerides and hdl are excellent with good blood pressure. I started drinking acv with meals and before bed and it seems to help somewhat but Im still waking up too early. Could my waking up early be a symptom of another problem? i.e. cortisol or some other hormonal problem? I have hypo thyroidism and take Armour for that and my numbers are good. Do you have any idea what this could be. I just want to get a good night sleep and wake up feeling like I got a good night sleep. Thank you so much for the great content!

I found this very interesting. I have alot of these .. the high blood pressure - your correct .. the blood pressure pills doesn't fix the root cause. I knew it had to something that has prevented me from losing weight .. I strength train 45 min 5 days/wk & monitor my food intake so to be in a calorie deficit .. nothing is working + my age doesn't help & sitting at job doesn't help either
@kwilson4125
@kwilson4125 Год назад
@darlenedunn5693 It might be something you are eating plus when and how often you are eating. You might need to do a food sensitivity test and remove all common allergies like eggs, wheat, gluten, diary, soy and try Intermittent Fasting.
@darlenedunn5693
@darlenedunn5693 Год назад
@kwilson4125 interesting .. im not a fan of intermittent fasting ... everyone in my family except me (so far) is diabetic (high & low blood sugar). As for diary . Love it too much .. however I didn't give gluten any thought until now. Eating every 4 hrs might work .. 👍
@kwilson4125
@kwilson4125 Год назад
@darlenedunn5693 I love dairy also and used to have a wine store so cheese companies would donate cheese from all over the world. I eventually stopped all dairy for a year and replaced with vegan “cheese” and almond, hemp, flax or coconut “milk”. I dropped weight and things started to change. I started learning how to make vegan cheese and started trying all different brands. I still miss cheese but I realize my body doesn’t. I suggest you eliminate all forms of dairy for 2 weeks and then eat a big hunk of cheese and observe how you feel. If you get a lot of mucus, coughing, fatigue, or anything else, it will be pretty obvious and you’ll have to make a decision. I am not a fan of Intermittent fasting either but I do think that having breaks between meals of 4 to 6 hours seems to help and/or fasting for a day or two every week or so seems to help also. I had 50 stubborn pounds left after my weight loss and when I fasted about 1 to 2 X weekly and removed items from my diet, it came off quickly. Diabetes can be prevented. It’s mostly the grains/carbs/sugars/sugar that seem to spike it the most. There’s a doctor name Gabriel Cousens who is really extreme because he put people on a completely raw diet to heal their diabetes. He had a book about reversing diabetes. I will put links to his book and documentary below. Even if you don’t do it, it’s good info. I disagree with accepting diabetes as a potential because everyone else has it. Because your family has it, to me that means you are most susceptible and must do more. If you love dairy more than seeing improvement, that is your choice. But try for 2 weeks if you’re willing and then go from there. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7EhuXJOUrwQ.html The Documentary 1.5 hours long ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nBJZnakkoss.html Gabriel Cousens Cure for Diabetes 21 day plan book www.amazon.com/There-Cure-Diabetes-Revised-Holistic/dp/158394544X/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?crid=ZI4T98DAADTO&keywords=gabriel+cousens+diabetes&qid=1684682768&sprefix=gabriel+cousen%2Caps%2C128&sr=8-5
