1800 MILES ROUND IRELAND ON A YB100? NAH !! (BOXING DAY SPECIAL !)

Wonderful collection of my best clips when roaming Ireland in June 2022 on my little 2-stroke Yamaha YB100. This was a trip around the coastline of Ireland - if you have never seen Ireland this video is as good a place to start as any.
YB100 - Ok so you've watched the little clips but some of you still have not watched the whole series that I recommend you watch from the start !
So many funny things happened like when some kids laughed at me for riding such a tiny bike but when I told them where I'd come from they reckoned I was "Hard Core" not the Harley and BMW comfort riders! Then there were the kids coming out of school and goading me to "Pop a Wheelie" - hilarious !!
Riding the YB around the coast of Ireland was nothing like the NC500 Scotland. Scotland was tropical. Ireland was a veritable Monsoon.

Well what a lovely comment! Not sure if you have seen my NC500 one that I did this year but, spoiler, Ireland was better. Bloody weather was terrible at times but that all added to the "character" of the trip! Thanks for your kind words.

@@ballockybill2277 Bill thanks for all three of your contributions on this video. The YB is indeed perfect for riding around your little roads rather than a Harley of BMW - seeing them shooting past me as I enjoyed the view made me laugh. Then I was sitting next to a french couple on a BM while I ate lunch in a cafe - refused even to acknowledge me 🤣. And finally.....while your west coast is gorgeous, the east is also very beautiful and not to be missed. COming back soon with my wife but in the car.

Ì once spent 3 weeks travelling around Devon and Cornwall on a Suzuki gp125 as my 1100 was waiting for parts, and the trip sticks in my mind as cheap travel and a lot of fun. Riding back roads and lains, finding little beaches and riverbanks to camp on, you can get places on a light little bike that people on big bikes won't chance.

An enjoyable watch Rob, the music was very apt as you added to the scene of the journey. Never visited Ireland but the scenery is so lush and green, thanks to all that rain no doubt..😆 👍🏍

Go raibh maith agat a dheartháir! I can give you more details of the route if you want? Assume you are from Ireland? The east coast is beautiful too.....and the Antrim coast, in my opinion is THE best! On the Antrim coast look carefully at your route to ensure you are right next to the ocean on the small roads - all are easily passable on a bike!

Beautiful video buddy . I'm from Dublin , was a courier there for years on small bikes , some big ones too . (nice filtering btw ; ) I live near Rosslare now , and I worked on mussel boats between here and Carlingford Lough , beautiful place , as is all of our lovely little country. Great choice of music too !! Well done and come back soon ! ( I never had a YB although I would have liked one , I did have a H 100 , cracking little bike . I have a CG 125 and an RD350LC now . Keep 'er between the green bits , as the road racers say here .

Great vid, thank you-bringing back happy memories for me of motorcycling and driving round much of that another lifetime ago. Looked a bit blowy on Malin Head..thought your bike might get blown over! And a good test of your Oxford rain jacket.. they are good..

Hi Rob, We met at Fowlers about a month ago. What a great video and an epic ride, it just goes to show that you don't need a big engined bike to have an adventure. I am off to Killarney on my bike in June, aiming to do some tours from there and possibly some hill walking.

I agree with on a par with Scotland. So glad I did the Copper Coast and the coast all the way along from Cobh to Dingle is stunning albeit I didn't go to Dingle on that run - been there many times.

It is indeed a beautiful country - of course I deliberately drove round the coast which is the most beautiful but really must do a tour of the inland areas too one day.

@@stevef8763 A video update.....not for a while. But I can tell you what seemed to be carburation issues turned into a rebore and reassembly could take place this week, next month, who knows. This has all been going on since July!! Of course the whole engine should have been looked at.....not just the top end so the whole thing is a bit of a work in progress. Thanks for your interest and concern.

Cobh, Cork Harbour. There is a museum there but it has more on the Lusitania that sank in sight of the harbour taking one of my mothers great aunts with it :(

Quite simply the bigger fast bikes are at no advantage unless you just want to check off a list of places to see quickly. And we saw a big harley dropped on one of the awkward corners on the Antrim coast....the YB was undropable !!

Stefan it was a coin flip really....ironically if I had gone the other way I would have missed all or most of the rain. Also I decided to make hotel reservations for the first few nights....that was a mistake too - just leave it until a day or two before or just "rock up" and hope there is room!!
