@@albertomoniz9051 Nah - unlucky it didn't run away (?) But it will someday in the future - as they sure as shyte put a LOT of force on all of that engine's components - such that it would be amazing if it didn't run-away on some poor sod - in the future.
@@QUIX4U with that broken shaft on that tubo and it is already sucking oil through the intake ,everytime time they throttled up and the flame shooting out ,if that is was at operating temperature it would of run away.
Porter dude of Ohio here...Greetings! 🤩 Now that is one nice cabover Pete! That fire coming out was quite a shocker...I saw what looked like a bird’s nest come out at one point. Whew! 😳 If it’s going to Holland, well, our loss! I know that many people across the pond love our cabovers, but we really don’t see enough of them over here. Cabovers rule! 🥰 There’s only 1 thing better than a cabover...another cabover in your driveway! 🇺🇸😎🤩 Can you share any other updates on this rig? Would love to see it in action, etc! Thanks for showing it and I’m glad that it didn’t catch fire!
In this case being most likely a 1676 if not a 3116 Caterpillar with it not wanting to start it probably had a stuck jake break , that would cause flames to go out the exhaust , if not maybe blown turbo , or it could be a fuel delivery problem. But if you listen to when they were pop starting it , it sounded like the pistons were slapping, that noise is a stuck jake brake decompressing the engine where it's not going to fire properly....
So somebody you knew bought this thing and they said it was a strong runner? What's the story on this??? Gotta love shady ass people when it comes to selling vehicles.
I’m a truck buyer for overseas customers that restore them. We bought this “running”. 90% of the trucks we buy folks lie about. This is a perfect example. The problem was the turbo was totally blown apart. Like decimated. This cost is another $4500 for shipping at the port due to not running. But “it ran fine” according to the seller. Liar.
My God the guy narrating this is getting on my nerves with his advice and that voice he’s the only one that doesn’t get invited to the Christmas party every year
Looks like it out of time. Like those old tractors we sometimes play with and pull all around the barnyard with a good tractor trying to get it running ! Rings n smoke is fun !.😛
It was hydraulically locked up . He pulled it backwards to get the fluid off the top of the piston then pulled it forward to reverse the rotation and start it😅
We had a 65 mack f series that would shoot flames too we had it all the way tuned up too the governor too 5 speed maxidyne too twin screw 💤sleeper cab too kh
Its got to be a precup engine they are stubborn to start to start with, it was being hydraulic'ed on fuel, its going to need work, it could possible sporting bent valves now.
@@fosterbennett4569 no it doesn't. As long as it'll pass safety and is reliable. I'll show you truck that need complete restoration. That's nothing. That's a lazy restoration compared to how bad they get. Also a new look sucks.
@@1965Gindy agreed brother. That truck is perfect the way it is. Get her runnin the way she should and polish up what shiny parts are on it. New exhaust and riiiiiide.
Even tho they were a very good looking truck the quality was terrible..I remember people who owned and drove those and how much they hated them..No insulation in can..cold in the winter...wind blows thru them..can hinges so weak if you tilted the cab in a wind storm the cab would fall off...Màny back in the day traded up to a Frieghtliner and said it was a far better truck...But they were good looking
Wow that's some serious dribbling nozzles to pull that trick, have to wonder what the EGTs were like for the fuel to combust out of the stack. Have to say though, if I had one doing that I'd have been just as keen to let it run a while and film it even though I'd be worried about causing more damage. Got to go, Greta's calling lol
If that has jake heads , you might have a stuck jake break is why it wont start? Does it have a turbo? Is it a 1676 or a 3116 Cat? I can kinda hear it when you were pop starting that old girl , but determining by the exhaust smoke theres a cylinder that has something wrong with it , seems like #5 or 6 because a steady stream of smoke should be coming out... or your down a cylinder? It's hard to determine through video but , through just sound a visual it seems like the jake break is stuck on
I always thought if you pull start a diesel backwards it will just stop the engine cause when you pop the clutch the tandems just lock up anyways. If you do it in reverse the engine wants to suck air into the exhaust and blow it out injectors. Is that correct?
Apparently not. I just roll started an ‘87 LTL Ford quad axle dump truck in reverse about 3 weeks ago. One of the onlookers commented that, “that was old school”. “These young boys around here, don’t even realize what you just did”!
Looks like an injector is stuck open, either that or y'all cracked a tip trying to pull start it, I've seen that with bad head gaskets. I'd go for the first since she was igniting all that nice hot unburned fuel.
Wouldn't it had been easier/smarter to try and start it in, or closer to the building/garage?, looks like something I would do, I wouldn't hardly call that "running", lol, it's firing enough too maybe get it on the trailer under it's own power, MAYBE!, if you hurry, lol, it's flaming like that because the exhaust is full of oil, the exhaust is full of oil because that engine is whipped/wore slap out, lol
If you drive that old rig to California, you will get arrested at the spot, and loose your CDL forever... 🤔🤣🤣🇺🇸It needs alot of overhauling work, it costs a fortune, maybe in Mexico they could do it cheap. The Headgasket is done.
I.bet.. thoes tree hugger vegetarian chronic puffing bastards hate trucks that smoke....I bet if I stole a couple of ounces of my nephews weed and threw it in the exaust stack...I'd fit right on in..I would purposely go to the weigh station and everyone would get high as a motha trucka
I don't understand a lot of y'alls love of cab over trucks. I drove my share of them when i was young and I hated every one of them. If i couldn't get a job of driving a conventional tractor I would keep looking until I found a company that would hire me that only had conventional tractors. And I never drove VOLVOS either. And when I bought a truck it was a PETERBILT. My first PETERBILT was a 1984 359 and my second PETERBILT was a 1998 379.
Kevin...I think somebody likes peterbilts..lol...f.s.c.fezchak has a 1984 pete CABOVER named orwell..I met him and Orwell in ohio..real nice guy..he just replaced his turbocharger....that sumbitch cost 2,300.00 I had no damn idea turbos cost that much..I figured about 15-1600
@@ISXCUMMINS565 figures another reason why we are losing all our cabover's in the states. I'm sure you have noticed that there making a serious comeback here.
@@keepontruckinoutlawlife1248 There's yards full of them all over the place. I know one yard near Broward Fl. that has well over 100 COEs. Every time I go down south I find more and they're cheap as hell, my neighbor bought a running 80s FLT, 3406B for 4500 in SC last summer.
@@jimmartin7881 I here ya man I'm from Detroit so there are lots of them here in Detroit in fields but the people rather watch them rot than sell them to someone who would fix them
