Now that Sam and his son verified that the engine runs, and the transmission works, he can continue the tear down of the 1967 Sunroof Beetle. This is all in preparation for it's first drive in a long time and will culminate with a 180 mile trip down south to the Airhead Campers VW Roundup in Florence, AZ in less than two months. We still have a lot of work to do, and a priority for us is new wiring so we have to get the engine out of the way so we can remove the firewall tar board to get all the wiring behind it removed. Once we finally dug out the lower two engine mounting nuts which had probably never been removed judging by the amount of debris and the original VW stamp on the pressure plate. Watch and enjoy the continued tear down as we get this VW Beetle one step closer to road worthy!

It’s so good to see real life examples, including the challenges many of us face. Thanks 👍

It is truly my pleasure. Nothing in a restoration or a simple revival like this typically goes as planned!

Thoroughly enjoying your videos but also loving your shop! Very clinical, just the way I like it.

Likewise Eddie! I like the original blue as well and if it weren’t for the hacked up dashboard this would be a fantastic car for a full resto.

Guessing that wasn't your first time pulling a VW engine 😉

No....it was my fourth! On video at least, I think. Let's see, I think the first on RU-vid was Spencer's Type 3. The second or third was either Jaime's 63 or my 71 Super, so this makes number 4! Yeah, 4 engines, that's all I've ever pulled, with video evidence anyway. 🤣
