Great looking car. You'll love the Wilwoods. I added them to my 69 and I no longer have that let me think about stopping feeling. I also added the weber carbs on mine and wow what a difference. It was as if a horse was let out of the barn and I no longer use a fuel additive. Just SUNOCO 93. Very responsive, no stumbles. Upgraded the sway bars. I'm in Massachusetts so summers can be hot for a little while and traffic can be nasty so I also installed a new aluminum radiator and electric fan from Moss. Mine too has been a work in progress but I'm happy to say it's all sorted out. I'd imagine there will be a few more items but for now I drive it at show it. Overdrive is in the back of my mind but I prefer backroad drives so maybe next year. Enjoy the process and all the comments while getting gas or an ice cream. People seem to love these cars.

I finally took it for its first drive after making all these changes. You’re right about the wilwoods. Much better. Once I got them bedded in the bite is much more confidence inspiring. The EFI is working well. Still needs some fine tuning but it was definitely worth the expense.

Congratulations on your TR6. The are fun to drive and learn about. As others have said, 1969s are a breed apart. They have a number of “one year only” features. Please save you your 1969 wheel and hub because they are in demand by cold doing a concours restoration. It was one of those one year only features that give the 1969 so much charm. Your seats are also the correct seats for your car. So often you see these changed out so it is good to see them here. I am in the middle of restoring my 1970. Consider joining 6-pack. It is a a national/international organization devoted to the TR6 (and GT6). They are very friendly and many of them are long time TR owners and can really help out with good advice.

Very nice. The captain is correct the 69's are rare. But same as the Captain, I'm a proud owner of a Royal Blue 69 with Wire Wheels. 61,000 original miles from CA. I was fortunate to stumble upon it. I have gone through pretty much the entire car except for the carbs. I'm having weber's put on in the spring. Every time I drive it it seems to get better and better. I too am happy to be a source should you need an opinion. This community is very helpful and sometimes these cars defy my logic at least. It's fun in but I do need to walk away sometimes. Congrats.

Beautiful car, thanks for sharing these points. I've been looking for the right one for years... I'm 6'2 but slender build, haven't sat in one with the roof up, but I hope I hope I can fit haha.

I’m 6’. I think you would be okay. Leg room would be the issue.

My first car was a '73 TR-6 in that exact "burgundy" color. Wish I'd never gotten rid of it, but it had more mechanical issues than I could afford to fix as a young E-4 in the army at the time. But man, I had dual exhaust with glass-packs and that thing sounding amazing, it had an incredible growl when you got on the throttle.

Optima yellow, Lumenition Ignition system (Pertronix isn't as good anymore). Nice early dual diaphragm distributor. You could upgrade to SU H6 carbs. Add an Emergency / backup hood release in case the primary cable breaks, cheap upgrade with an easy install and pays for itself if you only use it once. VERY VERY IMPORTANT!!!!! Rotate your gas cap 90 degrees (either direction) to prevent popping open in a crash (was a factory dealer notice at one time). Get a stainless steel brake line kit from Classic Tube. Stainless flex hose for brakes and clutch.

This is a 69, it is very rare and worth a premium. Your car was only produced for one year and in 70 (and from then on), things changed a lot. finding original parts can be a challenge, but it is worth it to keep this rare car original. I have one as well and can help if you wish.

Agree 100%! 1969 was best of breed. Mine was number 271 built in April 1969. Start with the fact that the ignition key is located where it makes sense in the instrument panel not between your legs. Also the absence of all that power robbing smog stuff allows the engine to breathe thus offering a few more bhp. The Smiths instruments are hands down more accurate and attractive than later versions The car was built by Triumph Standard not Leyland and having also owned a 1974 TR6, the 1969 was put together in a much more quality manner. I don’t want to drone on but your 1969 model truly is best of breed imo

The black rotors seem to be carbon impregnated and this causes issues. The red ones supposedly don't use carbon as a material of construction.

Looks nice. Original seats, very nice. Who hacked the top off your air cleaner? Lucky, early dual vacuum distributor. How about a pertonix ingnition upgrade, and an OPTIMA red or yellow top? OPTIMAs are gel cells and don't leak acid all over the car. ******** Dude rotate your gasoline filler cap 90 degrees. There is a factory repair message. The magnet may come loose and open in a crash. The rotation will make the intertial force of the collision not do this. *******

Change out the stock radiator to a new aluminum one and change or the cardboard air ram in the front - maybe a new electric fan for the radiator ?

It has actually started overheating. I fear it may be a head gasket leak but need to do more tests first. Cooling system is probably in need of a complete overhaul.
