Another great video with lots of tips. Thank you. Great work. What I find works well on those screws is using a cordless impact driver to loosen them. With a quality bit in good condition it works well.
I rebuilt some zx7 j model carbs a few years ago and you did a good job. One thing I didn't do was a leak test afterwards like yourself, thankfully no leaks when I had it all together haha
What is the jet to the right of the main jet? The one that isn't removable? Just rebuilt these on a friend's zx7 and it still will not start. Bowls are getting fuel and bike has spark. Thanks
@true-moto-resto if I am correct it should be the jet for the starter circuit that runs behind the butterfly... if that is clogged on me it would make sense why I have a no start.
@@d_libby. Possibly, I had to pull that jet in my CB900, Had to drill and tap it and extract with a nut and bolt . If your bike starts with a squirt of fuel down the carb throat then yes it may be the slow speed circuit Have you tried a shot of fuel down each carb throat to see if it fires ?
@true-moto-resto I held the throttle wide open and sprayed a blast of starter fluid down each carb then tried to crank it over with no luck. Spark is confirmed on all 4 plugs. It has me stumped. The battery is old and has been on a trickle charger for years and I have read an old battery can create weak spark on these? I will have to try a few things and also confirm his synchronizer hoses don't have holes in them
@@d_libbyI assume you’ve checked the compression , and that the valve timing and clearances are all good? Are the plugs wet or dry? If they’re soaked then you may have float height issues and it’s flooding and your plugs may be fouled. Just going to basics if you have compression, correct timing, fuel and spark it should at least burp Are the float levels ok? I don’t recall if they’re adjustable in these (it’s been a while). I had a GSXR that wouldn’t fire and it was just getting way too much fuel because the floats were set wrong and it was continually flooding. So… I’d check the float levels. Are all the passage ways in the carbs clear ?(not just the jets ) Are the vent lines on the carbs clear and allowing air in and fuel to flow? There is a lot involved in properly cleaning carbs Do you have another battery that you can jump to the old one for better starting? Tried fresh set of spark plugs ?
