Replace a 1991 4x4 tracker automatic transmission filter replacement.
The audio went at about 2;00 minutes or so, sorry about that. I made this video because I couldn't find anything about my particular tracker and I thought it might help someone out along the way. I'm giving back so to speak.
The problem: The transmission was slipping when cold and around corners when the vehicle was accelerating.
The procedure: It was quite simple but a little time consuming. I had to take off the drive shaft link to get the transmission pan off. I also used an angled socket extension on the pan bolts to get around and under the exhaust . Once I took all the bolts out it pretty much dropped out. I placed a giant lid under the vehicle to try and get most of the transmission fluid that gushed out the sides.
I replaced the two gaskets and bolted the filter back in. I added 2 litres of transmission fluid. Started the engine and waited for it to get hot. Once it was hot I checked the fluid level and topped it up to half way up the dip stick and then went for a drive around the neighbourhood. I came back home and topped it up to the full level.
Good news, it fixed the transmission slipping issue I was having. It's now ready for the bush once again.
Important: You must measure the fluid from the dip stick when the engine is hot, not cold. You probably know this but just encase you didn't.
Feel free to comment and make fun of me winging this filter replacement. If there is enough interest I'll keep posting.

Yes, it fixed the transmission problem. It hasn't slipped since. Up vote if it helped you in anyway.

I have a 2000 Chev Tracker, 2.0L, 2WD, 2DR, Automatic Trans, 80K miles. Going to change the Auto Trans filter sometime. A tube comes into the side of the pan, have to look at it. Did your pan have a metal tube in the side of it...

There is a magnet at the bottom that collects the metal fragments from your transmission. The magnet was full of fragments and I needed to clean it.

Besides a 10mm socket what other tools you used?

Sorry for the late response. I'm not sure, it's been a while since I owned the vehicle. From what i remember, just a regular socket set should see you through the job. No special tools required. Wish I could answer better.

@Tracker Pete beat me to it. rockauto has the largest supply of general tracker parts i could find online, and the cost beats most others so i always send people there.

Yes! It totally worked. I was skeptical that it wouldn't, but in my case, it did. IMPORTANT: The key to making sure your transmission fluid is at the right level on your dip stick is make sure your engine is hot and still running. For example, I drove the Tracker to town and back, about 10 km, and then checked the transmission fluid with the engine running. This gives you the most accurate reading on the dip stick. Don't overfill! Add a little transmission fluid at a time and wait for a couple of minutes before checking the dip stick. After about 4 months, it slowly began to slip again on corners. I ran the engine again and topped up the fluid. It hasn't slipped since. I hope this helps you out and best of luck with your fix.
