Never understood why Dave stayed bitter! Had Dave not gotten fired, he would have just been the guitar player while James and Lars would be his boss. Had Dave not gotten fired, he would not have come back stronger and created the band that he wanted in Megadeth Had Dave not gotten fired, he would not be the legend he is today. I love both these bands! I love their stories I love their talent and their hard work and what they’ve gone through. I consider myself blessed to have had the opportunity to listen and enjoy their music.

I like how Dave admits not just that he thought that Kirk was bad and he was sort of envious when they were all younger, but also how he said that he got older and matured and he even complimented Kirk. Both these bands are sick.

I agree. Dave is considered a rythym player by most nowadays anyway. He had some solid solos in the 80s and early 90s, but his riffs, songs, lyrics and melodies are what makes him such a great artist.

Back when I got my drivers permit I listened to Metallica on the way to my first test. I failed... the second drive up I listened to Megadeth and I passed. Enough said.

If you've ever watched the interview uploaded in 2006 between Lars and Mustaine, you'd learn that Mustaine loved the rest of the group. He saw them as an extended family, but without a second chance he was removed from the band. He only ever had his mom and them. They got rid of him because he was an aggressive raging drunk, but instead of helping him they just got rid of him like a pest instead of a friend/brother. They had great chemistry, especially with the writing and shows during the early 80's. I don't like to compare the two because they're both equally as great. Before anyone makes the argument: "Well Mustaine broke dreams and kicked band members out also"... Remember, he gave them not only second chances, but MULTIPLE chances. He didn't want them to experience what he had experienced, but it got to a point where no matter the amount of chances they wouldn't change. To this day Mustaine has incredible skills while playing live. Not to discredit Lars' or Kirk's skills, over the years their skills have depreciated and created some infamous failures. Even as a band they experienced failures/quality drops later on due to this lack of practice and chemistry. (Good examples would be their albums St. Anger and Lulu). In most recent live shows where Metallica had invited people from Kill Em All such as Dave Mustaine, they had clicked with increased speed and excitement. The chemistry hadn't been better in years. So before anyone makes a "Metallica vs Megadeth" or "James vs Mustaine" or any comment that revolves around a half-assed opinion or comment around WHY things happened in the band and how people's personalities are, do your research you dumb fucks. Thank you. I love both Metallica and Megadeth, but people who are soy filled, testosterone high fucks who fist themselves for a sport become assholes on the internet over band feuds that have nothing to do with your life. You weren't in their shoes and you don't take the research to determine your opinion.

there's a backstage milton keynes 1993 interiew with mustaine after megadeth parformance and which was actually taken during metallica warming up. when first notes of battery start playing loud applause and fan shouting break in and we can clearly see mustaine's face confused and hear his speech interrupted. so the hatchet hadn't been buried yet

That’s why Dave drives me nuts-he gets kicked out of Metallica, goes on to form Megadeth, one of the best thrash bands in history-some of the best metal albums ever, songs, lyrics, millions and millions of records, tours-and you KNOW he’d STILL give all that up in two seconds and act like Megadeth never existed if they invited him back into Metallica.

Dave Mustaine knocks Kirk Hammett for his soloing, but Kirk has wrote a lot of memorable riffs for Metallica.

kirk gets hate because his style is in the pentatonic scale a lot of the time and he uses wah more than he used to because he loves the wah and his idol jimi Hendrix used the wah. when you consider the fact that there is really nothing to bag on kirk about other than that his solos are "betcha cant play this" difficult, the haters have to just go with that. ... but here is the irony......LEAD GUITAR IS NOT ABOUT HOW DIFICULT THE SOLOS ARE TO PLAY, A SOLO IS ABOUT FEELING AND NOTE SELECTION AND KIRK ALWAYS HAD THAT. so fuck the haters. granted his fingers aren't as nimble sometimes now. he has mentioned how he has more discomfort now due to age and shit. but kirk always had cool sounding solos back in the day. dave can do fast solos and some of them sound cool, but he was never gonna be the right lead guitarist for metallica. listen to kirk's solos from ride the lightning thru Load . there are tons of cool solos . more tasty and melodic than anything dave could do. dave is like one of those guys who thinks quantity is more important than quality when it comes to leads. kirk can do more with 3 notes than dave could do with an intire fretboardd

actually the only kirk's contributions to 80s metallica were the riff he brought from Exodus for Trapped Under Ice (which is not quite sure if he has written himself as this riff reappears in Exodus' Impale) and the die die by my hand thing from creeping death . After that he had no contributions till the Black Album where he worked with them as a team. He has admitted himself that for every 80s metallica album he went in a room, record his solos and that's it. Every other riff was James' job.

Just how good Dave is.. Getting fired from a band that bacame massive and starting a new band that can compete against them.. Imagine Kirk getting fired from Metallica! He would spend his entire life in the dump.. Every member of Metallica including James if fired would not be able to form up a band equivalent to their former band..Thats how good Dave is..
