One of the most exciting games of this epic rivalry. Extremely hard hitting and full of emotion. Props to Alabama for the effort, especially since the 97 season was amongst the worst for them in program history. As always, War Eagle!

U must not know much about football. Look up the names on our offensive line. Victor Riley was an all American. Kendall Simmons started for the the steelers. Jeno James was a beast. How u got 10 likes is sad

This Iron Bowl gets lost in the discussion of classic Iron Bowls. It had everything. It had an underachieving team taking a lead late into the game, a fluke play call, and a game winning field goal. Great stuff.

Christopher Thornton Fun fact : That screen pay call that Ed Scissum fumbled on got Bruce Arians terminated no joke. That decision was made above the HC and AD’s pay grade too it came from someone high up in the Bama hierarchy.

Chris Davis was in 1st Grade Elementary School in Birmingham, Alabama 1997-98, while I was in 2nd Grade that year.

I was there. People thought it was over for AU. All Bama had to do was run the clock out on downs. I screamed “it’s not over ‘till it’s over !!!” at the top of my lungs. Then Takeo Spikes caused that fumble and Jarrett Holmes made history.

Takeo Spikes was just on SEC Network lamenting the miracle Bama touchdown winning catch last Shabbos and I’d like to remind Spikes about that 1997 Iron Bowl that he played in and how it was a miracle like win for Auburn that night in Jordan Hare. That miraculous pendulum swings both ways. That 1997 loss was rough too.

I'm a life long Vols fan, but 2 games I never miss are Alabama Auburn and Alabama LSU. More often than not those are good games!

Exactly what I said... Coach definitely heard about that in the press conference... IDK if Auburn had a TO left but I don't think they did... And a screen pass? That has the highest chance outta anything you could call to get blown up by the defender on a bang bang play or not even looking... Good game though! Go Eagles!

Bruce Arians called that horrible play. He is now the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals in the NFL. They should fire him for this play alone.

Mike DuBose first year at Bama and his first Iron Bowl 4-7 including 18-17 loss. In 2000 his fourth and final season and was fired with 3-8 including a 9-0 to rival Auburn

Poor Ed Scissum. He actually returned the kickoff at the end to around the 50 yard line taking 1-2 huge hits. That's how Alabama was even able to get set up for a final field goal.

Bowden's last full season at Auburn. People thought he was going to win national titles, but he never did. Terry never seemed to have the Auburn spirit within him.
