Threw a set of MotoFab lift blocks on the rear of the Chevy to get that aggressiveness back... What do you think!?! _ Thanks for watching, please like and subscribe!! _ Music: / freemusicforvlogs
I just installed these today. Rather than lowering the axle so much, I used a floor jack with a 2x4 scrap to force the leaf spring up so I could slide the block in. Also left the wheels on and did one side completely at a time. Hope it helps. Nice truck!!
I’ve done this same exact process on a buddies truck and it looks great. I love the factory rake when it’s lifted. Don’t like a truck driving around looking like it’s got poopie pants.
I completely agree with you on the way the truck looks with the rake you have now. Looks awesome man! Nice work. I am probably going to do the exact same to mine.
John, your "rig" looks fantastic!!! Thank you for sharing such valuable info with us, as I just picked up a 2016 Silverado 1500 crew cab and will follow your plan of action, Happy Motoring, my fellow Chevy friend!!!
I leveled my '13 Z71, and I like that its taller. But I'm definitely putting blocks in the back after watching this video!! This looks great. Good work
Really glad I found this channel. No lie literally just bought the exact same truck a week ago, looks identical to yours before you did any mods. So really cool for me getting to see what the possibilities are with my exact truck
I just recently discovered your channel and just like you I do my own backyard wrenching. I like your videos because I also work on my truck by myself and usually what I plan for installation almost never goes like how I planned it, LOL! Great video and thanks for sharing! Nice truck by the way!
lmfscrew thank you sir, yours as well!! Totally get your possible want for going with a street look now after all the rock chips... I’m thinking the same. Truck has 5k miles on it and rock chips everywhere! Cringy!
Yup i've got a video coming out thursday showing the rock chips on mine. It is sad to see but hey its just the price you pay. I just watched the video of you talking about the chips on yours, you'll at least be happy yours isn't as bad as mine haha I'm with you on the no fender flares or flaps, cant stand them lol
I just had a 2 inch level in front and a 2 inch block added to the rear...the kit was from Zone off road. According to instructions, and after calling tech support to verify....said to leave factory block on, add the new block above it. Mines is a 2018 Z71 ....put a set of STT Pros in 285/65/18. love it
Z71 off-road comes with 2” blocks stock so if u wanna lift the back end you need 3” or 4” blocks. I tow a Lund tyee around so I’m going 2.5-3 lift in the front and 4” in rear to keep some of the factory rake so the ass doesn’t droop towing
Doing this same thing to my Sierra in a couple days. Put a level kit on it and it always looks like a dog sitting down. Especially when i had my kid and my dirt bike and gear and everything loaded in the back. So I got a 3 inch block to replace my 1.5” block that’s in the back to give it an inch and a half rake back to it.
Hey bud, the easiest way to do that is get another jack , set it on some 2x4s and raise up the leaf springs, slide them in. Easy !! Nice looking truck.
good stuff and liked John :) So I ended up just keeping the XD820's 20x10 in Satin black/305/55/R20 Ridge Grapplers going on Sat morn. I drop truck off tomm eve...So I ordered the Motofab 2.5" front 2" rear which sounds exactly like what you did. Any advice I should pass along to the shop? I have read the front upper ball joint getting it popped out and back in is a pain. I would guess they will do the job on a lift? Anyway perhaps I can make a vid after it gets done to show it...
Thank you man!! That's exciting!! Yes, it's exactly the setup I have right now... 2.5" up front and the 2" in the rear... Yes, the upper ball joint was a pain, but they should have better tools than I do at the shop, lol. And yes, I'd also assume they'll do it all on a lift, it'll make the job wayyy easier than the way I did it. Please show it when done, I can even give you my email address to shoot a photo over if you don't upload on the Tube!!
GREAT CHANNEL YOU HAVE 💪💪 LOVE YOUR CONTENT BEEN WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS ABOUT ALL DAY 😂😂 I’m planing on going with the 2.5 motofab lift in the front as well, but I also want to keep the rake. I plan on going with 1” rear blocks for the back, do you think I’ll still need rear shocks or can I keep my stock ones without blowing them ? Thanks in advance.
I’m gonna do mine, I did a 2” leveling kit already. After your video I ordered a 1” block kit (motofab) just to get a little of that aggressive stance back.
That looks great. Could I do the same setup with stock 17 inch rims? Or do you need larger rims with different backspacing in order to NOT have the rim contact the upper A Arm on sharp turns?
omyajt with stock wheels and tires you should be good.. I run my stocks a lot in winter. But with a beefier tire they’ll probably rub a bit with stock wheels on the UCA on tight turns
Hey thanks for putting this video up the truck looks great I'm about to do the same thing with my truck I had my truck leveled sometimes it looks like it's squatting and put the weight in the back brings it down so thanks for putting out the instructional video
Dude I got the same deal. Put the leveling kit on but I think my rear is still higher by an inch and I think the kit comes with 3 inch blocks so I think I’m gonna try ordering 2 inch blocks
Looks good man. I put bilstien 5100s which give 1.85 inch plus a 1.5 lower lift block along with a 3 inch rear block. Also it's easier in your driveway to use a floor Jack with a rubber block to lift up the leaf spring and changed one side at a time. Dont have lift anything else. Takes 30 minutes going slowly. That's it
Man it looks great!!... I have the Z71 crewcab and i want the front raised but, I pull a 24ft enclosed trailer... so, this would work nicely. Let us know about the ride.
Hey man love the videos and the truck. I just bought a 16 z71 Silverado had it leveled in the front. Next step is picking the right wheel setup. I see in your comments that you mention state inspections I live in Ga and have never heard of that can you elaborate?
John Doe yeah man... the state of PA makes you go through a yearly inspection to make sure your vehicle is safe for the road. They also test the emissions system to make sure there’s no leaks and that you have the proper exhaust and stuff on your vehicle. IT SUCKS!!!
Looks awesome! I have the rough country 2.5 in level lift. Really close to buying 3 in block for the rear because i tow. Your vids are great. Keep up the good work
Chris how you liking the 2.5 kit? I am considering the purchase as well. doesn't the kit come with a 2" block for rear as well making it still have a slight rake?
@@djt6753 i really like the kit. Very easy to instal on your own. I went with the 3 inch block just because i do tow. The 2 inch block just isnt enough. But i do like the kit. No issues with buying a rough country kit. Im a rough country poster child bahaha
You said in the video you went with a 2 inch lift block. Does that mean you bought a 3 inch block to lift the truck 2 inches? Because it comes with a 1 inch block.
most important thing about factory rake other than hauling is when trucks leaf springs get old they sag therefore when your old truck sags it will be level and youll still win lol
Looks good! I just did 3" front 2" rear with Readylift UCA's and Skyjacker Black Max extended rear shocks on my 18. Came out perfect with a small rake. Just Say no to 👶💩! Lol
James DOWNER thank you! The level and block kit keep the truck riding the same since it’s still on factory struts and all... once you upgrade those it’ll change the ride quality. Speedometer seems to still be pretty right on, my factory wheel/tire combo was just shy under a 33” so it’s pretty fair either way. For those coming from a lower trim with stock steel wheels it may change more drastically.
Came across this since I’m doing the same thing and thought to myself.... he has to be from Pittsburgh, turns out we live in the same zip code hahahaha. Great video man!
ᗩustin ᑕummins honestly no issues with towing thus far.. have had a few pretty heavy loads with a few different style trailers and cargo and she’s been good. Also, the brow is at 5% 🤟🏼
ᗩustin ᑕummins longest I’ve rowed was a 24’ enclosed and she was alright.. funny you say, my buddy with the same rig and just the front leveling kit just bought a 37’ camper and has been yanking it around. He’s also reported that it’s been not too bad but might get some helper bags for the rear! Appreciate the support!!
Truck looks great! Did you put in a 2 inch block or a 3? I only ask because It doesn’t look like factory it looks about halfway in between . A 2 inch block really only lifts the rear .75-1” by the time you take the factory block out
John Wargo thanks for the response man . Im in the same boat ever since I leveled my truck it looks higher in the front and I’m wanting a block for the rear. Really like the way yours sits.
@@JohnWargo93 I’m not sure why,I’m thinking because I have the same truck or just because you start your channel(correct me if I’m wrong) with that truck!.. just so good looking truck, aggressive looking and definitely the best looking model in my opinion..
I'm just about ready to pull the trigger on the very same setup...has the ride quality changed at all? I just went from a '15 2500HD to an '18 1500 and I love the softer ride.
Heyy!! Ride quality stayed the same up front, I hear guys that go the 3” route though have a little rougher ride because everything is all the way cranked up at that point just like cranking the keys on a 3/4 ton... the rear is good also but factory shocks are a little overextended so you notice when hitting larger bumps and stuff. Didn’t get the extensions, was just going to get longer shocks but I haven’t yet 🙈
I have the same 2018 double cab... your shits legit and have decided to do the same 2 inch lift lvl with extra leaf spring in rear.... im in construction and do alot of hauling and in and out of the back of the the truck.. so jacking it up 6to8oreven12 was out the question do to being compfortability in loadin and unloading my truck..... but also needed a slight lift wen headin into the hills to shoot, fishing, and hunting hitting uneven ground and pitholes...
Bryan Bernard thanks for the feedback and support!! And I hear ya.. if you’re really using your truck daily the big lifts are inconvenient, but stock is a little small for hills and what not 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Truck looks good, I have a 2017 z71 crewcab with a 2.25 leveling kit and it’s perfectly leveled, but I’m in the same boat as you were, thinking about adding rear blocks too!
@@nelsonchico9032 I ended up getting 2 1/4 inch really lift rear blocks, the stock blocks are 1 1/4 inches, so that gave me a total of one extra inch in the rear which I like because it still looks somewhat leveled but slightly higher in the back for throwing things. I like the way it came out.
DJT I’ll be honest with you, I never considered the RC lift.. I ran a RC lift on my Wrangler and it was fine, but these MotoFab lifts for the trucks are being run by a lot of ppl so I figured it must be pretty good overall. They sell the front and rear as a full kit as well, but I ended up doing it separately because I’m a bum 😜 Only thing I’m worried about is UCAs and I’ll be doing them aftermarket soon!!
I might use this to make my truck level. My truck only has a 1" rake from factory so if I get a 2" rough country leveling kit, I'm going to be squated 1 inch. So if I buy a 2in block for the rear to replace the 1in that's already there, it should be exactly level.
Do you have to unbolt the shocks or can you leave connected? My truck has over 100,000 miles and no way I'm unbolting them unless I change them lol. Also not sure if I want 2 inch or 1.5. I got a 2 inch level already. 2004 Sierra 2500hd. If I can leave the shocks on that'd be awesome.
Alec Pratt hmmmm might be able to leave the shocks on and just might have to pry on the axle to get the new blocks in.. do like 1 side at a time and pry it down or something not sure. Might have to bite the bullet and snatch some shocks too! Lol
@@JohnWargo93 that may work. I'll have an extra hand installing them. Mine actually didn't come with stock blocks so it'd be nice. And yeah shocks are a pretty penny lol. Truck sounds good. I installed a 4 inch dynomax on mine. See you're in Pittsburgh I'm actually in Erie county if you wanna put em in for me 😅
Hey I have question. So my family and myself have been blessed with the opportunity to move to Nashville, Tenn. I have always been a pick-up truck fan but where I lived previously I could never justify getting one. Now that I’m here I can for a number of reasons. I started looking at pickups and to my surprise they are up there in price. So my question to you bc I’m new to the south and the culture. I see people with brand new pick ups and they have them lifted and put on incredible rims and tires (love it) but are people here buying these trucks outright? Bc you can’t modify a lease or a finance unless it’s paid in full? Just curious bc I would love to join the “club.”
Tom Markz what’s up brother welcome to the fam!! Ummm... I’m going to assume most guys are modifying a financed vehicle. I mean I’ll be honest I do it to all of my cars and for the most part finance all the more expensive ones.
Order the same blocks 2" tall and i received 3" tall i dont know if they send me the wrong block or what but that is not going to work for me so im sending them back. Do you know how tall yours were
Jorgeluis Salazar yeah man, the 2” lift kit comes with 3” blocks.. the factory blocks are currently 1” tall.. so once you remove them, and insert the 3” tall block it’ll give you a total of 2” of lift in the rear from factory.
John Wargo nice! I think this video has made my decision on what I’m going to get! I just picked up a 2018 with 22x9 wheels and my last midnight edition was leveled, but I want to keep the rake in it, as I tow my boat and frequently have a quad, dirt bike or a snowmobile in the bed! Your truck looks nasty!!
I had the 2.5 level in front and 2” block in the rear. Found it was too level maybe front was slightly higher, so I got the 3” rear block to give me a lil rake
Jim Tumpak what’s up man?? Most shops here in PA don’t care about the window tint. It’s best to ask before having them inspect it for the first time. The wheels on the other hand would be an issue... that’s why I keep the stocks around. I put the stock wheels and tires on for state inspections.
Ricky Hendrix I don’t think so.. I still have 1.75” of rake and that’s with the 2.5” up front and 2” in the rear. Might wanna go with the 1” block for the rear to be more level??
Ricky Hendrix did you ever put the 2 inch block in the back? I just installed the 3 inch up front but I also think the 2 inch block in the back would make it higher, and I want it to sit level
Austin Inscho yeah man that’s what’s on the truck right now.. 2.5” up front, 2” blocks in the rear. She sits higher. Pretty sure it even would on yours.
I’ve tried looking through the comments but what size tires and wheels? I am going to do the same exact setup. But I want to shop around and didn’t know what size is best with clearing everything.
Rudy Vega from my research they produce the best and most affordable product for the buck for these 5th gens. Quality and tested but not crazy expensive or anything.
JOHN WARGO yeah I just saw your 6 month review on the truck where you fully went into detail about it, should’ve seen it first before asking😓 but thanks a lot for the reply you definitely got a new subscriber!
