2001 maxima is immobilized. and obd won't communicate with scanner. You said you pulled code while immobilized on. any thoughts. Thanks for great tutorial.
Great easy to follow steps! As an added note I have found over the years doing NATS 5 programming, to ensure it is a fully recognised key, try off/start/off +5 times as I have experienced a few over the years go into a valet mode whereby the key is good for 5 starts then locks out again!
At 3:30 you mention it could be a signal that could be still a failed key, this Maxima I'm working on has a signal from the key antenna (very fast waveform down in the microseconds) the NATS module then processes and sends out a signal very similar to what you have on your known good at the end of the video but still a crank with no injector pulse and security light on solid. There are small blueish burn marks in the PCM and codes from its self test that don't match what the scan tool reads but I'm either stuck in lock mode or have a bad key is all I can determine. Thanks for the video it got me much closer to an answer than where I was before with some terms I was able to search for and a better understanding of the system.
Man I just figured how to connect to my home TV and watch your video Man what a huge difference compared to watching on my phone lol Mind blogging what you do Nice to see a master at work
Your brilliant Keith... I may have to watch this one several times over for it to click so if you get like 500 views by tomorrow or so it will be mostly me. Thx as always for sharing and your time to do so.
Thank you so much for sharing, it's really helpful to have this information in your back pocket incase your sisters qx4 decides to not start. I really appreciate it, and I'm sure a ton of other people do too
at 3:15 when you check the communication line (orange wire) and it is 0 v hard to know if you have open wire or if any module is pulling down the voltage or the module responsible for producing the bias voltage the ecm or nats unit, at minute 9:00 we can compare with new unit when key on there is system voltage and any of the 2 modules is going to pull down the voltage when talking . very nice I am learning thanks for sharing .
Looks like I need a uscope I'm just getting comfortable with my Modis but it looks like you can get that little thing up and running in a hurry. Thanks for the video I just got a Launch so it's awesome that my launch should be able to do that service.
thanks keith always great to get quik diagnostic and repair.... i have been learning alot from all of you guys out here doing this .... it has stepped up my game alot on my thought prosess and how i look at things ... thanks once again
Keith thank you so much for using the U-scope and the immobilizer gadget. I have both items but glad to see everything being used. Really appreciate all your videos. You need Rocco there to give you a hand. Thanks again. ❤️
Very good Keith,by the way last night coming out of Atg training Kris lewis ask me to tell you, they still don't have a teacher in Staten island, interested
Awesome content! I am diagnosing the same issue on a 01 maxima. voltage is good on my orange wire but no data packets when key is turned on. intermittent crank no start.
Hey I have a 2001 Nissan Sentra with the nats on it and I have the crank no start issue just like this . The light stays on in the dash when key is on. I was told The key is transponding so would I most likely just need a new immobilizer ? Thank you
I know you use many different scan tools, including this Launch. I work on older 1998-2008 Mercedes. I can buy a blue box for 2k. If that's the best, I am willing to. But if there is something available which is ALMOST as good for less, I would like to know your opinion. If I could find a genuine star C3 or C4, I would, but they're hard to find. Your thoughts please. Thank you Keith. (This is my side gig currently.)
Hello I need your help on this one, I replace ignition cylinder with the key then when I try to program my modus scanner wouldn’t give me the access, what would you recommend me and there is P1610 code can’t be clear.
You said the cigarette adapter for the test leads were from AESWAVE but i couldnt find it on their website do you know what they call it or part number? Thanks
I'm so sorry. I didn't realize that it is unavailable right now. I've placed an email to see if they intend on bringing it back. I'll let you know ASAP
Thanks keith good info there. I remember searching for that nissan nats section every where on the launch before i figures its under maintenance.also you. An go to reset under immo reset to do the same
i have a similar issue. i have a P0227 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch C Circuit Low Input and P1612 NATS Malfunction Pending codes and i replaced the throttle body and accelerator pedal. i'm thinking i've gotta replace the ecu now :(
I haven't used my launch on any Nissan's as yet but I did let a guy I know use it to do a new key for his Patrol & he was going on about having to get the serial number from the module(reader) & going to some website to get the pin?! I now wonder if he did it 'wrong' (the hard way)?! 😅
I have a Patrol Y61 with this NATS system. I can’t communicate with NATS. Is the actual communication happening with this module or is the communication with a virtual module integrated in the ECM ?
that imobilizer ring tool is extremely helpful and doesnt cost to much. when it comes to reading the data line with a scope do you have experience decoding it what it actually means?? i have never just scope it all the time.
hey Keith, is there a way to check what nats version the vehicle might have without having the car available? I'm in the research phase for a 1997 infinity q45 Cima crank no start immo problem. I'm going to the shop that the vehicle is at for another vehicle, they asked me to take a look at it... not even sure I can do any immo work with my scan current tools. I only have a snap on verus, a thinktool proS and an autel 906bt... I also have a cardaq 3+ but I don't hold any subscriptions... I don't do immo work but I figured I'd give it a try
Thinktool and Autel will get you through. Expect a p1610 Nats issue. Let's see what you get when you arrive. Nats updates seldom exist until 2018 or newer.
Great video Keith. Instead of buying that very expensive tester wouldn't a amp clamp in front of the key pick up the induction signal from the nats module?
I have a 2001 Altima with the same problem. It's literally the same car except for some different cosmetics. Where can I take my car to have it fixed. Or can a locksmith do what you did in this video... Please advise.................
Looking up on the MOTER wiring diagram I found similar but there wasn’t any orange wire shown, It shows Br/Y wire and I was wondering does it change different colored wires on the specific model of the vehicle? I didn’t see what model you’re working on so I guessed the G20 and it shows different colors. I was just wondering so I could follow you better and get more of a handle on exactly what you’re doing. Anyway let me know if you can, thanks & good work as usual!
