It's 2020 and little Kubota is still running and used often! Still under 2000 hours on her though, have slowed down a bit......this thing is going to out live me I believe.

I bought bx2200 6 years ago at Money Man Pawn for $4K. It was beat up but ran well. I live on 20 acres and mow about 3 acres. It has 650 hrs now, uses no oil, and belly mower works great, but need to rebuild one spindle now. I was so impressed with its power, 3 years ago I bought another tractor, a BX25 with backhoe and front end loader. I use it to dig out tree stumps and clear land when I need to have less pine forest. I service my tractors regularly myself, but I’m a poor record keeper, unlike you. I use Kubota parts and filters. Enjoyed your review.

Thanks up to 17 years now still going strong. Just put only the 3rd belt on the 60" belly mower. Found an article where a guy said to use starter coil cord etc. and make a loop around the hook on the spring. Make it long enough where you can just sit down behind the deck, use your legs and pull the spring back with a handle of some sort inserted on the other loop in. Took about 5 seconds.....then just cut the cord if the loop is hard to get off. Also had a spindle rebuilt as well, was getting noisy. That's just normal wear and tear. Congrats on the BX25, that's a powerful punch with a footprint that comes in handy on all sorts of jobs! I STILL use mine commercially from time to time (Moved 18 tons of large rip rap in a neighborhood that did not want the grass tore up too bad. BX2200 stayed on the SIDEWALK and also fit on the pedestrian bridge allowing the rock to be transported to opposite side of creek....making the job go really well.

Update...the hot temp was caused by excess grass build up that I rarely cleaned out behind the battery and lower screen area....so temp is now more in the middle position. Also added the stock Industrial R4's on the front since this video.

Bought mine with the belly mower from a Mahindra dealer, taken in on trade in. Have used it 5 years, and have to say, I got the better tractor than whatever the previous owner traded for! Ha ha. Mine is 2002, first year of production, came with counter weights on front. Left them on there so I don't beat up the front end in the woods! Mine still has all original tires on it, had about 600 hours on it when I got it, about 1200 now, starts good, runs fine, I love it! My wife has the larger frame 2400 model and when she gets hers stuck, I rescue it with my little boy! Ha ha.

Bought my 2002 BX 2200 used at a Mahindra dealer (trade in) for 5K, early in 2017. Only problems I have had were with the spindles on the mower deck...think the original owner never lubricated the bearings...now replaced..basically rebilt the deck. Everything runs smooth on it after new battery installed..also original! Ha ha. My paint looks shiny just like yours, apparently always parked under a shed. Also original tires too. I only wanted a mower deck, which my unit had. I wholeheartedly agreed ...what a strong little tractor...like on steroids! It runs circles around my neighbors dinky lawn tractors...My acreage is rough and I wore out 4 new lawn tractors and an old gravely with a sulky set before I got this baby!

I have 2100 hours on my bx2200, some electrical problems and a few leaks here and there, but major components like engine and tranny have had zero problems. Still starts fine even in the cold. I will probably get another 2000 hours on it before I get rid of it. Really my only complaint is stability. Not only a kubota issue Im sure, but these small tractors can be real unstable with a bucket loader. I have almost rolled mine several times. Weight in the rear is a must for heavy loader work.

It sounds like you have got a great tractor and one thing I recently found out was the cost of the tires, especially the rear tires which cost over $1,000.00 dollars for one on the large utility tractors. That means for one that size it will cost around $500.00 or more dollars a piece. I have a John Deere model 790 tractor which I got in 2002 and it still works great and last year purchased a model 3032E tractor and they both work great for me. The 790 is used around home and it was also used to mow the lawn at our church for awhile. I keep my bush hog attached to it and use my other implements with my newer tractor.

Thank you for the review. I stumbled across someone who is wanting to sell a 2002 model of the same tractor with various attachments. It has around 650 hrs on it, but is still 18 years old. Seems to have been very well taken care of based on the pictures I've seen, and I'm planning to go take a look it. How is your tractor doing now several years later (if you still have it)?
@BaymondRell
@BaymondRell 4 года назад
That's low hours. If price is to your liking would definitely consider especially with attachments that can add up to big bucks fast. If tractor is well maintained and verifiable, then can expect some normal maintenance like belt on mower, hydraulic lines etc. Much cheaper than tractor payments. Folks get 3-5K engine hours and is expected with good maintenance. Electrical (lights) not the best over time either but most folks just DIY their own way or just do not use the lights. That's typical though for lots of tractors and equipment in general......like your trailer, "always something going on with the lights." Regarding my tractor, just rebuilt the cylinder seals on the front loader and changed a mower belt and a hydraulic line. She's going strong man. If everything checks out...get it! Keep us posted!
@johnnewland1014
@johnnewland1014 4 года назад
@@BaymondRell Thanks for responding so quickly! I really appreciate it. And yes, it has a front end loader, what I believe is a water tank with pressure washing system set up that is included with it, along with one other attachment that I can't identify from its picture. The price is $1000, so if all does check out, and it doesn't need any major repairs (aside from maintenance items like you said here and mentioned in the video), to me it seems to be a good price. Your thoughts? I've never bought a tractor like this, I just have a cub cadet push mower and we moved to a larger lot. I will definitely get use out of all it can do though! I will keep you posted! Thanks again.
@BaymondRell
@BaymondRell 4 года назад
@@johnnewland1014 That price is actually skeptical and a STEAL......sure hope it is a genuine good gent that is making you a great deal because these tractors still fetch close to $5K or more with attachments and low hours like that. Definitely start it up and run it or take someone with you that has experience with diesel tractors and can help check it out. (The LA211 front loader installed by dealer cost me $2400)
@johnnewland1014
@johnnewland1014 4 года назад
@@BaymondRell Those are some of my thoughts too after I've looked online for other listing prices. That price is either a steal or false, and I've seen both with other dealings. Yes, I'm already asking others I know to come look at it with me. I am not in such desperate need that I can't walk away. Thanks for your concern for a stranger.

I just got a bx2200, do you think it's ok to put 18x8.50-10 AG tires up front? I don't have the belly mower.
@BaymondRell
@BaymondRell 4 месяца назад
I ran AG's for a while now R4's on the front, the same size as stock. 4WD system requires the tire ratio between the front and back to stay the same with maybe a 5% +/- tolerance to keep the transmission system working properly together since it's all based basically off of a PTO drive. I'm hesitant to say "OK", for that reason. I've had no problems with the same stock size R4's on the front with stock turf tires on the rear but I accept personal responsibility if I have a tranny problem. So far so good and tractor is now 20 years old.

Nice to hear. If I could afford either one I would get them in a flash. I guess I'll stick with my MTD Yard Machines lawn tractor, my Honda mowers and vintage MTD or Simplicity front tine tillers as well as my Ariens Trac Team compatible snow blower and single stage Honda repowered Gilson snow thrower. I'd save a lot of space if I had a BX1870 and BCS749 with implements.

Just keep looking...found that little bcs at a rental house used for $500 with service records and a new GX engine. They pop up now and then. Was just talking to the rental guy and was commenting about looking at a big box store type tiller (did not want to do that) - and told him the same thing..."wish I could afford one" and he pulled that little bcs out - that was 10 years ago easily.

Looking at one of these. Has the mower deck but I really need one with a bucket and box blade. Wondering if it's a good tractor for moving dirt and rock to fill, digging up tree roots, moving limestone boulders , etc.?
@BaymondRell
@BaymondRell 9 месяцев назад
You can purchase a bucket from a dealer if you cannot find one already with a bucket. (LA211) King Kutter has a box scraper that will fit..... XB Series (Sub-compact) . The BX will move truckloads and truckloads of dirt and gravel and I've even done a few nice jobs with multiple trucks of rip rap. Just takes a little longer because bucket is only like 5 cubic feet. The advantage on one job was I was able to move the rip rap across a narrow pedestrian bridge and place the material whereas even a small Bobcat would not fit. Took more trips but customer was DELIGHTED. Also, it cannot go high enough to clear the sides of even a smaller dump truck. But for moving from point A to point B for the average 3-4 acre etc. home owner, cannot be beat. With a weighted counter-balance, will help from tipping over and will also take some pressure off of the front steering cylinder and tie rods. The BX can do some very basic grunt work but you have to get creative and be patient. Still beats hand digging! It is in no way like a Bobcat however, especially in terms of "scraping" and lowering grade in hard ground. I HAVE taken a plow and used it to "dig" and "pull" roots with the rear lift arms, then hit with bucket to push them out allowing stump removal of smaller trees. This works but takes longer. It's a great tractor for smaller to mid-sized jobs, especially when you really learn "how it works"....can use creativity to accomplish "larger tractor" work. Also, this little tractor "back drags" REALLY WELL on driveways and finish grading. But if you are doing serious large trees and lots of site prep work (grubbing etc.), will need a larger machine. Hope this helps.
@mikz86ta1
@mikz86ta1 9 месяцев назад
@@BaymondRell yes this helps a lot. The one I'm looking at is low hours and in nice shape. We have almost 6 acres but only 2.75 is really opened up. Rest is thatchy tree land. This one has mower attachment but I really use my Deere rider to cut grass. I would need to up the bucket for sure, appreciate the part number. A rear drag blade would be helpful also for us. I'd have fill dirt or rock base dropped off, so I'd be just moving that stuff around. Along with leveling the drive path, moving bush, etc. I do need to cut a path thru the woods eventually but it sure if this machine has enough to do it. Ground here in North Florida is pretty flat
@BaymondRell
@BaymondRell 9 месяцев назад
I use a 5' XB series blade scraper with weights on it along with the front loader. Can back drag with the front loader and do some nice scraping with the blade. It also serves as a great counterbalance. The blade can be tilted and the angle changed to cut and/or clean a ditch and help set your grade. Again, it's not a Bobcat in any way but comes in very handy for all sorts of normal homeowner jobs and my neighbors are always asking for a little help.......

Looking at a used 2200 like yours. Anything in particular you would look out for? In my area these seem to go for about half the price as yours was new with anywhere between 600 and 1200hours. That many hours makes me a little nervous but they seem too go forever.
@BaymondRell
@BaymondRell 9 лет назад
poolville02 Well I would definitely ask to see his/her manual or notes (such as I show) that can prove the oil changes and maintenance, (even if they took it to a dealer etc.) history. To me if a seller cannot provide written proof illustrating what they have or have not done to the tractor, then that is indicative of what type of owner they are and subsequent potential for lack of care. If the maintenance checks out and shows a consistent pattern of "taking care of" the tractor, then you can save a lot of money over a new one for sure. I consider myself just an average Joe, yet I document every single thing that I do to the tractor in my manual(s), including the loader and mower deck. If things check out, then get on her and ride her and just listen, if there are any glaring issues, they will show up quick usually!! (throttle up/down...(excessive smoke)....fast/slow.....forward/reverse....check all of the pto levers etc, 4WD engage, loud hums or vibrations (hydraulic oil levels included!)). I'm sure other folks may have something to contribute, but that oil change service interval (including hydraulics/tranny) is the critical part as you know!! Good luck with that search!

Would be better off with a stand alone splitter because plumbing has to be carried to rear so too costly overall but in theory can be done. GPM flow is concern too...

The loader is an LA211 which was used up until 2006 I believe and I paid around $2400 for it installed. It does a good job all in all. Excels at moving materials around and spreading/leveling etc. Does not cut very well at all unless ground is broke up first, but it can cut within reason.
