Thank you for the video! I followed your video to show me how to change my serpentine belt tensioner and idler pulley on my 2005 Tundra, you did a great job explaining all the steps involved, Have a blessed day!
This is a fantastic video. I have a 2006 Tundra. I wish you had kept digging down to the timing belt! There are other videos out there, but you are much more thorough in your teaching. Nice job.
One of the best videos I have seen on this process. Thank you so much for putting it together! Followed this step by step on my 2002 Sequoia and worked like a charm. No more squeal !!!
Thank you so much for making this video Ron! Literally the most clear and well explained process I have seen on RU-vid. This made everything go exactly how you described and showed it. Wish there were more like you out there sir! Keep up the awesome videos 💪🏻
Awesome video! I’m a total newbie to diy auto work at this level. Followed along on my 2004 sequoia and everything went well. A note for others - my fan assembly was rusted to the fan clutch and pulley face so I couldn’t remove the fan (tried pb blaster, torch, chisel etc) and you CAN still complete all of the other steps required and outlined in this video WITH THE FAN INSTALLED! The main thing is getting the fan shrouds and upper radiator hose out of the way (after draining some coolant). Endless thanks ron I definitely could not have done it without you.
Awesome video saved my day. I can definitely see a mechanic charging a half day a labor for this. The only thing is I didn’t remove radiator, thermostat, shield. The extra space would have been nice but just had ratchet socket kit and just squeezed everything in. Thanks for the help 🙏
Thank you so much for the step-by-step video just finished up my 2001 Sequoia. I did leave the Fan on due to a stripped nut but was still able to complete the job. Amazing video you ROCK!!
I just did this on a 2002 Sequoia today. I did not remove the radiator or fan. I did disconnect the top radiator hose to remove the fan shroud. Helpful video
Well done, great camera angles, especially on that power steering stud I have a LX470 with the same engine, some differences like the vanity cover and ac hose locations but at the core the same.
thanks for this video helped me a lot mainly putting the belt back on and other things wish i had found you on other problems i've had with tundras and i do still have more thanks again. you explain a lot better than others
Good explanations, that's alot of work for a tensioner...how much does a shop charge for it. I may need a timing belt in near future I suppose better to buy some new parts rather than putting old stuff back on.
Great video. I just purchased a 2004 Double cab, I'll be doing timing belt, water pump, t-stat, drive belt and both pulleys as soon as the parts get in as a preventative. 149k, no record of timing being done. Will be referencing this many times I'm sure. Thank you.
Turned the power steering pump by hand enough to loosen the belt then slipped belt off. Changed pulley. About 10 minutes. Reverse procedure to slip back on pulley. Your welcome.
Is there anything else I should do while I have it opened up other than the thermostat? I have a new timing belt that was done at dealer. It only has 55k miles but it is almost 17 years old.
Great video where do you suggest buying OE parts. I have a 2000 tundra 4,7 V8. I buy some at dealer however some parts are out of my price range. Any online suggestions thank you for the great content.
My original pulley wheel is 4 inch. The replacement part I bought is 3.5 inch. What's the deal with that?? The belt will then need to be slightly shorter. Hmmm
Good video but so much easier to just replace the tensioner pulley and not the entire tensioner assembly. I’ve never had a tensioner assembly fail, just the pulley wears out.
