Here I demonstrate the process of how to replace the tensioner assembly on a 2003 Toyota 4Runner V8. This is part 2 of my two part series performing this procedure. I’m sorry some of the sections were not able to be filmed while I was actually taking some of the parts off this is due to the complexity of this procedure therefore I needed two hands for a lot of it and couldn’t film at the same time. However, I do explain and show you what I am doing in each step but some of the steps you don’t actually get to see me do it because I needed two hands. Time to invest in some more equipment. 👍🏻

If anyone was wondering, this is exactly the way to do a 1st gen sequoia too. I was looking at my tensioner every step of the way and it all lined up

FWIW, I’ve done this a couple of times and will be doing it again this weekend. Same engine, 2005 Limited. If you take the fan off, which is a PITA, it makes the whole rest a lot easier. Great video BTW!

Just did this on a 2009 GX470. Fun job: arms shredded and bruised but job completed! Those shrouds and the blades on the fan are kind of sharp😂 Saved some $$$$ by DIY.

What a total pain in the butt! Glad I watched this before I dove in. I will simply be replacing the pulley on the tensioner and leaving the old one in place. No way swapping the tensioner assembly. Should have replaced the head gasket and grind the valves while you’re going through all that trouble just to change a belt. Wow.
