And we're back with Part 2... Let's say, we got through the first one, fairly easily. The "Wise Man's Trick" to soak, TIGHTEN it just a bit, soak some more, and let it work in for a bit... then remove, saved us on the first one... The second one is TYPICAL in the "Salt Belt".

I do most, if not all repairs, with tools that I carry around in my overloaded 1997 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. I perform "On-Site" braking and suspension repairs, amongst other diagnostics and services. My tools consist mostly of Craftsman, a few Stanley, Snap-On, Husky, Pittsburgh, and S&K tools. Scan tools include hand held Actron(s) DVOMs, and test lights. I also currently use a Zurich ZR Pro, for advanced and bidirectional diagnostics as well as a Snap-On Verus Pro, for more detailed diagnostics. Finally a video where some1 struggles(but handled business) with a bolt being seized to the bushing! Good ole rust belt! It's funny watching videos from down south where the nuts n bolts pretty much take themselves apart! Nice video!

Dang the vertical bolts had loosened hex-nuts on top for mine. Split the hexnut with a drill on passenger side to get it off, after it stripped. Did two horizontal cuts through the control arm bushing area on the other side after I broke two 1/2 to 3/8 adapters trying to loosen the hexnut and bolt. Scary, but fun stuff for first time using an angle grinder. Much thanks for the video, it really helped get a good idea for the fun involved!

Thanks for the comment! The most important part, is that the video gave you an idea what you were up against! (I think it REALLY helps, having some familiarity with the task at hand)

As always, use extreme caution when putting things under a lot of pressure. Try striking the SIDE of where that tapered ball stud goes through...

Have it put on a lift. With it running, in gear (2nd or 3rd) have a listen to the bearing area of the knuckle, and again at the area where the axle enters the transmission. This should help you narrow the possibilities. Edit: Also could be a fender liner (plastic wheel well) rubbing on the tire. Make sure no fasteners are missing.

@traviscrawford3378
@traviscrawford3378 3 года назад
How'd you gain so much clearance to the front bolt on the driver's side. The transmission is about 3/4 of an inch away from the head of that bolt. You have room for a ratchet and impact somehow.
@HouseCallAutoRepair
@HouseCallAutoRepair 3 года назад
Doubled up the box end wrenches to remove the stud/nut and using a board under the oil pan, lifted the motor to the point where there was just enough room. Too much WILL damage: wiring, hoses, exhaust, axles, etc.

I carry a large bucket of miscellaneous hardware and fasteners, just incase. Whenever I visit a salvage yard for parts, I save ALL associated hardware, for spare parts... I don't remember now, but I think the bolt was ok, and I just used a good nut on top of the stripped out, welded one.

Any tricks to get the horizontal bolt out if it just spins? Does the frame have to be cut?
@HouseCallAutoRepair
@HouseCallAutoRepair 10 месяцев назад
When things get bad.... cut the parts that are removable and replaceable. Cutting a frame is generally NOT a good idea.

Got it taken care of. Sawzall with Diablo blade to cut of the arm assembly. (Cut it like hot knife through butter) 👍Then had to use an oscillating saw to cut the metal around the rubber bushing and then cleaned off rubber bushing. The issue was the metal bushing tube & bolt were seized together. The threads were fine. Used MAP torch to heat that until bolt finally started to turn inside sleeve. Got lucky bolt didn't strip out.@@HouseCallAutoRepair

Just changed right control arm after it was in a slight fender bender also the sway bar after the crash it had lots of positive camber changed the 2 parts car still has too much positive camber any idea on what it could be?
@HouseCallAutoRepair

Gain access to the top center nut on the strut. Rotate the entire shaft CLOCKWISE ONLY and observe ANY movement in wheel. It will likely spring right back, but NEVER rotate it in the other direction as this can loosen the top nut AND internal components. If ANY wheel movement is observed, replace the bent strut. Otherwise you'll need to start taking diagonal measurements on the chassis to find what's out of place.
@BRED23
@BRED23 Год назад
@@HouseCallAutoRepair thank you there actually is a bit of a gap on the top of the strut where it meets the body hopefully this is the issue will try when I get back home
