I rode my niebors yesterday and WOW its all engine, that bike has the same power band as the Suzuki Hayabusa, you can beat any super car no problem with the sheer power that thing has, I want one. And those engines can last up to 1,000,000 as long as you never skip an oil change.

There's a space under the passenger seat dedicated to the toolkit, with a rubber strap to hold it in place.

Looking at a 2009 ST1300 and a triumph trophy..... might flip a coin!

Definitely the ST1300, it's got a good solid bullet proof history behind it, been around long enough to have all the bugs ironed out, will run forever and a day, very well behaved and for a few dollars you can make some great additions to suit you not the manufacturer and have fun doing it.

I say the ST on the Pan European stands for Super Tourer.

I really wanted to buy one of these machines. I test drove one here at the end of August 2021 it was for sale on craigslist, original owner, fresh Michelin pilot tires, never dropped, never crashed, 29,000 miles, garage kept. Service records. I took Took the ST 1300 for a test drive. I told the owner I would not be back right away, I told him I might be gone as much as an hour. I left my machine in his driveway with the keys in it. so there I was on beautiful country roads through farmland, no stop signs, no traffic lights, just a rolling smooth road through Western Pennsylvania …15 minutes out I start feeling heat from the engine, a lot of heat. I wear all the gear, sport bike boots, Kevlar jeans, it was hot, 85° so I wore my mesh jacket, deerskin gloves, modular helmet. My shins had more heat coming on them then I get out of my furnace in the winter. The machine had a very clever set of highway pegs built into the rollover bars. So I pulled the highway pegs out, and I started riding again hopefully to get some cool air on my legs and crotch. Wrong, the heat on the outside of the faring was hotter than behind the faring, I suppose it’s because the duct directing heat from the radiator dumps the air on the outside of the faring. my mind has been made up instantly about this machine. I turned around and headed back. I pulled into the owners driveway, and he said back so soon?. I asked him, how can you stand the heat coming off of this engine? I told him it would be acceptable if it only happened when sitting at a light, but this was taking place on wide-open country roads with no traffic, I can’t imagine crawling through bumper-to-bumper rush-hour traffic with all the gear I wear on a hot day. This heat would be acceptable if I planned on having it as a cool weather only bike. but as much as I liked the looks and the way the machine was equipped, I told the guy a flat out, that heat is a dealbreaker I’m sorry. I just sold my GL 1800 Goldwing, that is a six cylinder and it does not put out near as much heat as this thing does. No wonder I don’t see many of them on the road. That is a damn shame. I know that the FJR and the Kawasaki concourse are also rolling ovens in temperatures above 70°. I did not know that the ST 1300 was also an easy bake oven on wheels

Strange - I ride in some warm weather in Australia, have owned both a 1500 and an1800 wing and ST1300 and on a hot day, Id much prefer the ST over the wing. 😎

@@OzBloke it's just the way some like it. But as long as you're riding it doesn't really matter.

Mine gets warm but not a problem and I've ridden in 100 deg f. Heat. It's got after market mufflers which helps. I ride with reg long pants jeans. Doesn't bother me.

This bike is not the baby brother to the Goldwing. I own a ST and a Goldwing. The ST is a lot faster.

We say that meaning it is a smaller bike overall in stature. It isn't about speed rather size and comfort.

It's a very good bike but it could stand to lose 40 lb it needs 10 more horsepower and a six gear would be good and put a gear indicator on it and style it more like a sportbike it could be a little smaller and it would be a near-perfect bike that yamaha's FJ 1300 in Kawasaki Concours outshines it the way it is now. It is a heavy bike too heavy although it handles good it's still very heavy. I think if Honda made those changes it would be a much bigger seller it's more expensive I believe then it's competition and doesn't quite match up.

Blah, blah, blah. I have been riding for 55 years. There is no perfect bike. The ST 1300 is a very good bike. I love mine! 125 hp vs 135 hp? Seriously? If you aren’t racing, and this isn’t a race bike, I have never found it to be underpowered. I have also never missed not having a 6th gear. You are trying to make it into something it isn’t. It does what is was intended to do very well. It sounds like you should buy a sport-bike and put a trunk on it.

@@billstreb1044 I said it would be a near-perfect bike maybe not perfect but it would be good enough for me if they made those changes. I take great pride in riding a Honda great bikes I don't like to see them run behind a Kawasaki or Yamaha what's your both faster. I like a shaft drive with sport bikes don't have especially on long trips. I go to Denver a lot and the highway is boring straight so naughty me I run over a hundred frequently don't want to keep messing with a chain how many sport bikes have shaft drives besides I already have the 780 interceptor and I love it my short distance bike. And as motorcyclists we like what we like if I want 10 extra horse and a little sexy or styling so what. I said it's a fine bike but there's nothing wrong with wanting a few improvements so blah blah blah. I wasn't knocking your bike. There's this nothing wrong with a guy having a few different preferences. I find it hard to believe you wouldn't take 10 extra free horsepower if it was offered to you on your bike. So blah blah blah.

It was the worst of the three.... And got a bad reputation and no one would touch them,, they were used as police motorcycles... At first, until they killed four police officers from violent front end shake....
