Harry was the greatest!!! Is it weird that i used to have that final call as the ringtone on my old phone, so everytime i ggot a call all you heard was Harry making that last strike call..
Something like this…”9 seconds left in the game. Brady under center. Takes the snap. The pocket collapses. Brady almost sacked by Graham. He launches it deep for the end zone and the pass is INCOMPLETE! There’s no time left! The Philadelphia Eagles are two thousand seventeen world champions of football!”
I was 18 years old when we won the World Series. Philly's first major pro sports title since 1983. This title win makes me appreciate the Eagles Super Bowl win even more because I was very young and entering adulthood. Didn't know what it was like to celebrate a hometown team winning it all. I'm 31 years old now and I hope the Sixers and Flyers can win it all at some point. That'll complete my sports cycle as a Philly sports fan. P.S., R.I.P., HK!
I was 6 when we won our first Stanley cup. It was crazy! My mom took the top down on her convertible VW Bug, and piled me and my buddies in the back seat. Like 4 of us back there. No seatbelts, This was 1974. She drove us around the neighborhood beeping the horn. It was an experience. everyone was out and celebrating.. people were running up to the VW to high five me. Some streaker was driving around on a motorcycle......nothing on but a pair of converse chucks and a helmet. Up in northeast phila, some over enthusiastic fans rolled some cars over, and the police had to release the hounds....lol. It was crazy.
Awesome video ! Harry is so missed and I was so glad he lived long enough to make the call of World Series champions for a team he loved so much. Chris wheeler on the other hand was always a stuck up a hole
I fell to my knees and cried at "SWING AND MISS!" 15 years later, and 700 miles from Philadelphia, I still get teary eyed. Let's beat the Barves tonight.
This very moment put me on edge. I watched the Disney movie “Angels In The Outfield” and lived this moment. Whenever J.P. said the recurring one-liner “It could happen”, it did. When “Lights-Out” Lidge delivered the final out. I went totally ballistic!!
As long as i live, i will never forget the image of Lidge falling to his knees and Chooch running out from behind the plate. I bet i lost my voice entirely from screaming.
I was in the car with my dad listening to the game in the Home Depot parking lot when he passed away. I’m just glad he was alive to call this game. RIP Harry Kalas, him and Merrill Reese are the voices of Philadelphia sports!
THR33STEP This team was made up of future Cooperstown inductees!! Ed Wade, Pat Gillick and Charlie Manuel deserve total respect in building this powerhouse team!
not only did we get to hear Harry Kalas call our world series victory, but let's not forget chris wheeler made the best call of his career after the strikeout of Hinske- by not saying a damn word. was so glad when wheeler was removed from broadcasts grew up listening to Harry the K and Whitey, and now we are stuck with idiots like kevin frandsen and ruben amaro jr. who incidentally was the wrong choice for GM between the two AGM's when Pat Gillick retired. the other option helped make the Kansas City Royals into world champions. Amaro took us down a level each season. is there any question why no team will hire him as an executive anymore?
