How I diagnosed the turbo failure on my Tiguan: these turbos have two failure modes. The first is the wastegate armature will get sloppy where it attaches to the wastegate arm. In later years there is an improved connector to the wastegate arm. The second failure mode is the bushing through which the wastegate arm rotates. It'll get sloppy. I took off the belly pan, crawled under so I could get my hand up to the wastegate arm, and I could feel it move in the bushing.
You you did a lot of unnecessary removing of stuff of hoses and lines that you didn't have to do you didn't have to lower the engine to get it out or move it forward you could just lifted it up from the top
