I'm 32 white and American, I do the only thing I need to do and that's pay taxes. You're a beta child and you shouldn't be telling grown people that actually know about cars what they should do with their lives. Hope this helps kid.
+ElteeMullet Why are you telling me that your a 32 year old white taxpayer? I'm a 22 year old tax payer with an 08 mustang gt, not the fastest car but it's alright . The kind of people who put down other people are just angry, insecure people.
Kid, you're dumb. Nobody cares about your slow mustang, or your opinion on what kind of people act a certain way. Your a clueless child that knows nothing about the world, and you as a dumb kid shouldn't be telling people to grow up. Now back to your safe space I said mean words.
+asdf More people know how to drive a manual than you think. I learned in about 10 minutes and never owned a manual vehicle. Once out of first, the rest is simple.
In some ways automatic is more fun (even though less engaging) because you can focus on winning and having fun instead of when to time your next shift.
you mean like Indy 500 circuit racing? paddle shift automatics. Nascar is still stuck in the 50s running sticks to keep it about the emphasis on the human element. not about building a faster car. baja 1000 trophie trucks are automatics with a sole purpose of moving as fast as possible over off-road terrain
Amazing how much things improve in short time. these cars are faster than my stock 07 gt500. I always wonder just how much weight I can pull out my car and still make it daily driver comfortable and look good. Most ppl just add power but weight is important too.
no excuses here. people put manuals transmissions up against automatics in the worst way possible. it takes more than 1 or 2 passes hell even ten pass down the track to achieve better times in a manual transmission. that and people not knowing the cars power band along with that to go with crap launches kill 1/4 mile times. the manual should be quicker of the line if the driver could launch at a high rpm. however with the amount of power in todays cars it makes it hard to and traction becomes an issue. dump the clutch, pull of a good 60 ft and get a set of slicks and the manual should be just as quick as the auto. and fyi there are cars that get better 0-60 and 1/4 mile times wth the manual trans so the car is also a factor.
I can’t believe that a stock car can be bought brand new for such a good price, full warranty, all the mod-cons, and run a 12 second 1/4 mile. Just awesome.
Street tires don't like to much heat. Hence why her automatc was spinning/chirping. Only warm the tires, with little wisp of smoke. No big burn out. Otherwise the street rubber becomes grease.
Being a pro drag racer doesn't necessarily make someone great at racing a manual. Essentially all high end drag cars are automatic with big stalls, which is nothing like launching on a clutch, and also shifting manually fast. From the clips shown I can certainly shift faster than their pro did.
+kanukster true, but if it had to meet the same emissions requirements as todays cars, it would have been an 18 second pile. Likewise, if we never had to conform to emissions, todays cars would be awfully fun.
I don´t get how much "hate" you get if you say "I drive automatic" or "I prefer manual". What do so much guys care about others transmission? Well I want to buy a Camaro soon, but I´m still not sure about the transmission. On the one hand during traffic jam AT is very nice, but on the other hand it´s kind of boring aswell. Big point for me is the AFM. I don´t trust in systems like that, don´t know why. I also don´t buy a V8 that goes V4 when idle... ;-)
got to give it to chevy, they just keep winning, I was never a chevy guy, more of a European car guy, but im starting to lean towards American pony cars, they are definitely some impressive cars in the ford, chevy, and dodge line up, and chevy is 10 car lengths ahead on design and performance. its numbers are identical to the m4, that's just insane! thumbs up to chevy and the team
Test drove both the Auto and the Standard Camaro SS. The standard is a smooth shifting transmission but the clutch is a bit weighted towards the top of the movement. The Auto-8 is superb in this car, it is very quick shifting and is perfectly matched to the power curve of the motor. I went with the Auto-8 as the manual gives no advantage over the Auto...is in fact inferior to the Auto in everything but price.
Iam gonna get a lot of hate but I don't need a stick, a automatic is fine by me brother but I will say riding in a manual is fun but I don't like to drive them much
+Sam Lung same here. I can drive manual but I find little fun in doing so. Especially in heavy traffic. I think most bash those who choose not to go manual due to lacking in other areas??
@@ThePepe969 Another thing is that this test isn't exactly accurate when it comes to racing. Lots of automatic trans suck when it comes to downshifting through corners, whereas my manual I can shift right to th gear I need when I need it.
d'ont care about the 0,2 sec advantage for the auto. i'd take the manual over any auto, cvt, pdk you name it. manual =fun and control, lighter weight and more reliable and less expensive. I am glad the manual transmission is still being made for enthusiast today.
Yeah, I was seeing the same thing. Funny that at the end of the video we got 1/4 mile times to 2 decimal places but they rounded the trap speed to the nearest MPH. My gut feeling tells me that the Manual is trapping higher due to probably putting more power down.
Up until the early 2000's Manual was always faster if the driver was good. Older automatics are just horrible especially 60's and 70's autos. Surprisingly the first autos(1950s) aren't half bad but for drag racing they wouldn't be good.
I would really like to know if the paddle shifters were used while in the automatic. If the car is faster in drive mode without the need for paddle shifters, why add the paddle shifters to begin with? I have my own answer to that question. The 5th gen Camaro goes into a 4-cylinder mode whilst in drive to save gas. When you put the car in manual mode and activate the paddle shifters, it is V8 all the way. Shifting while turning is a different story.
In my 98 Supra and my 14 Genesis, the car is MUCH faster when in paddle shift mode over normal Drive .. not sure why though 🤔 and cant find that answer anywhere
On the lower cost end, a base auto 370Z can pull a 13.1 1/4 mile and those can be had for a tad under $30K. The bottom item of this 4-some list is the base WRX around $26K. So there you have it: 2 or 4 door. 4 cylinder turbo or multivalve 6 cylinder or huge V-8s. 7 or 8 speed autos or 6 speed manuals. RWD or AWD. THE END.
In terms of sales, mustangs outsell 2x camaros, even the Challenger is in 2nd place as of 3/1/2017 ytd. Basically, camaro is overpriced, epsecially because Chevy increased MSRP by $2k.
I wish someone could compare the auto and manual on a track course. I want to see who would be faster there so I can base my final decision on whether I'm getting a manual or an auto 2016 SS.
There was nothing wrong with the last gen camaro. These things are robotic looking just like the corvette. Prefer sleek lines on sports cars. Cars now days all have hard lines and robot looks. Stingray, Aventador, Camaro, etc
+Vernon Price what suck on the 4th gen ls1 was the INTERIOR and the rear axle. GM should have kept the body similar but really changed the interior and put a REAL axle in them instead of an S10 axle
Honestly the 5th gen Camaro are kinda ugly, wish GM would go to a style smillar to the 3rd gen and not the body of a tank. A slightly longer, shorter and narrow body would be great.
There is no way my WRX would be able to keep up with these cars soon. Turbo upgrade is my goal and with a few mods the SS will stomp on me! It is crazy seeing them that light and with that much power.
Pretty good results for the 8 speed auto, considering it's completely stock and that track is 1145 ft elevation. Run that same auto at a track near sea level in similar weather conditions it should do 12.0x
The new SS may not be that good looking, but god damn, they are very quick. GM brought their A game. No 5.0 can match that 12.2. 392 would come close, but not close enough.
+383mazda 2009 but that's besides the point. What the heck are you talking about? The cars never looked alike until just now. I'm talking about the cars that were just released and I'm pretty damn sure the 6th gen Camaro released before the new re designed GTR which came out what 2 weeks ago?
+Daniel Oh You can't tell me the just released GTR doesn't look like this car in the front. The wide opening, the way it swoops forward on the front above the DRL's and intakes. Hell, those even look the same.
I'll take the manual over the slushbox any day of the week. I know auto's have come a long way, but a manual offers the driver much more control over the vehicle in all driving conditions.
Rattlesnakedady true manuals are more engaging but modern autos with a "manual mode" gives you the same amount of control vs a manual. Fastest lap times with cars come from dual clutch auto trans equipped cars.
There is not a single black person in this video clip. Country music playing in this video clip and no black people it gives me the impression that these people are trump supporters.
Jesus.......... All of this fighting over manual vs auto. At the end of the day, whether you are driving an auto or not, which one is more likely to hand someone their ass? I like driving stick just as much as having a well tuned auto. If it comes down to me kicking someone's ass and I have to drive an auto to do it, then so be it. Sure, a manual is fun to row the gears, but how "manly" are ya gonna feel looking @ tail lights from an auto?
+Stephen N Not quite, but it's somewhat close. Z51 Corvette has the same engine but weighs 500 lbs less. Big difference. If you run them both side by side, same track same day same conditions, the Stingray will always win. But the Camaro is much closer now than it used to be, and that's a good thing.
Stephen N the 6-speed is an auto, which has actually clocked faster than the 8-speed autos, and the manuals are 7-speeds, which have also managed 11's. Even the 2016 Camaro autos have run 11's.
I'm 54 yrs young. My Wife and I figured we've owned 65 cars in our 38 yrs together, not one had an automatic trans. Not once did we feel at a disadvantage. or feel like we needed an auto trans.
i just drove a manual for the first time today, and starting up is terrible for me, but everything else is easy. CAR PEOPLE tell me what is so much better about manual?
either way for 50,000 dollars no one at a glance can tell the difference from a used 2010 v6 camaro..Not to mention 99.9 percent of americans cant afford a 50k dollar car
a v6 2010 looks and sounds nothing like these. I had a 2013 automatic just traded in for a 16 manual ss such a better overall car can't really compare them on different levels. It performs better than an 90k dollar BMW m4 in every category
Utter slaughter and devastation if this was the 2019 or 2020 Camaro SS with the 10 speed automatic versus the 6 speed manual. How is a 12.9 second for the 6 speed SS( weight 3,685 pounds) any different from the 2020 Camaro V6 with the 10 speed automatic( weight 3,354 pounds)?
stating how 60s muscle could not cut it, Chevy BBH , Ford ,Hemi etc, flow on newer small block engines , is whats different and tires along with twice as many gears, match components being all ewqual and equal results , just look at record holder small Blocks for NHRA Stock class, 10s are easy for most small blocks
Ive actually taught myself and had a ton of practice no lift shifting in my 2019 ss 6speed manual and after a month i finally beat my buddies 2019 10 speed auto ss in the quarter mile.
@@vervity344 my Camaro has a no lift shift program. I stay in the throttle and while I'm clutching and tossing it into the next gear the engine cuts to 5,500 rpm until you let out the clutch. It's actually a pretty cool system.
@@shayneconway1081 yeah ik my car has it too but dont wanna use it just incase it causes any extra wear or damage in the long run unless im fr racing but have you had any issues with your car so far?
@@vervity344 the way the system is set up actually protects the engine from over revving. The clutch is going to always take the majority of the torque abuse regardless. But I have not had any issues whatsoever. These cars are built to take the abuse. I'm upgrading my clutch and axles soon.
almost 10,000 dollars more for .20 seconds. no where near worth it you could get that with bolt ons for 2000. Shelby has it right, it only comes in manual. Unless you are driving a supercar anyone that drives an automatic i don't care if they win or not they aren't driving their car a computer is doing all the work. Not to mention it does just about the exact same thing every single time just floor it and let the computer do the rest...exciting.
I am a FordFanBoy who experiences severe gluteus maximus discomfort whenever the Mustang is not being talked about, looked at,tested or thought about CONSTANTLY!....but with that said :atleast its losing to the Camaros because they are shaping up to be great value performance.
When you get into the power that the SS makes, the automatics have a real advantage. I'm really surprised that the auto didn't have more of a lead, but it seemed that it always got that lead off the line, then they were dead even. Much more effecient at putting the power down from a stop. I bet in a road course, or if they were accelerating from a roll, the manual would be equal if not have the advantage. Still though, the manual is more fun, and well, put some sticky tires on the back of there and I think the advantage would go the other way.
