Nah. It became a coin flip. The Cubs were obviously rattled after the 8th inning. But, they still almost scored in the 9th so it's not like they quit or took a different approach offensively
davoz28 Yeah, only if every game had "world series" stipulations and was this close. 99% of all MLB games are NOT like this game. Some call this game the greatest game of all time.
Well, this match was interesting within these 4:52. How long does a match last? So what happened during the rest of this match? You like it and that´s 200% OK, but I still think it is boring. So is Basketball. Basketball is interesting to watch within the last 4-5 minutes of a match, the rest is a too long and boring foreplay!
davoz28 that’s because baseball is boring unless it’s the playoffs and even some playoff games are insanely boring at times. This game was really exciting because of the stakes. Baseball isn’t exactly a fun sport to watch like football, hockey
Still watching in 2018. Anytime I'm hankering for some nostalgia I Watch This, Kane's winner in 2010, 2 goals in 17 seconds, and the last 3 minutes of the 98 finals with the bulls.
Then again, that's quite possibly one of the most exciting games he's ever called, between two teams who hadn't won a world series in such a long time. Made sense for him to show more emotion than usual.
And to think the Cubs did this after a 3-1 series deficit. Not just one of the best game 7's ever but one of the best World Series ever. Clash of the Titans. Lots of respect for that 2016 Indians team for how they battled.
@@xDshiv58 after the immediate shock wore off I remember thinking the media is gonna run with the narrative that with bartman the Cubs were 5 outs away and with Rajai they were 4 outs away.
I woke up the morning of this game and said to myself 'I'm going to see either the Chicago Cubs (1908) or the Cleveland Indians (1948) win the World Series tonight.' The game didn't disappoint. What a classic. Unbelievable.
I know this is late, but I think that was the best part about this game. Everyone knew either the longest championship drought in sports or the 2nd longest World Series drought was going to end that night. We were going to witness history in the making regardless of who won. The fact it was also an instant classic game made it even more legendary. I’m not a fan of the Cubs or the Indians, but I was rooting for the Cubs to end their 108 year curse and I remember being so excited on that final out, I can’t imagine how great it must have felt as a Cubs fan.
As a more "occasional" baseball fan, this was the kind of game I expected. A wide open classic. Both teams wanting to end their droughts, and leaving It all on the line for it
As A Lifetime Cubs Fan....I Can't Remember A Game In Which My Heart Was Pounding Through My Chest....By Far The Greatest Baseball Game I Have Ever Seen
great edit. im watching and still getting nervous as if i dont know the outcome. every tribe run gave me anxiety but that davis HR damn near made me cry lol. great game. cubs could have really put that game away but the tribe just kept battling. ill never forget this game. when your favorite teams win championships, you cherish the moments to the full. they arent easy.
I was there at game 7 ..I standed outside the stadium looking at the game in a screen Red Bull had set up as took the train downtown right after work cause traffic was crazy but I had to go check this out ..I’m front chciago and moved to Cleveland in 2008 … and when the cubs won the heart break the Indians suffere I could feel in the air as I caught the train back home 😂😂
could not ask any more for 2 teams to clash it out in the final game of the baseball year....this will go down as the greatest baseball game of all time and in World Series history...2001 from the 9/11 year and the following 2002 series were great but 2016 takes the cake as the most watched and most on the edge of your seat series in any sports fan life.. whether you are a fan of the 2 teams or not this was the most scary fun good feel story of the year!!
I watched this at a bar by my apartment around the corner from the Cubs stadium. Flew two of my younger brothers into town to watch it with me. Couldn’t believe it. What an incredible game - and then we ran to the stadium to celebrate afterwards. Passed more than one man weeping in fetal position on the ground. A memory for a lifetime!!!
Good Lord, I'm sitting here at 1 in the morning just remembering all of this. Sitting on the couch in my lucky shirt, me and my dad with our hands switching between our mouths and the top of our heads, dreading everything. My 51 year old dad, who has lived in Chicago most of his life, one of the most devoted fans I have ever had the pleasure to know, thinking that his Cubbies may finally win it all. My phone, which is usually buzzing with text and messages, was dead silent. Everybody I knew was glued to their screens, praying that today would be the day. Even now, a year and a half later, I watch and feel the exact same emotions I felt that November night: Hopeful, Ecstatic, Safe, Nervous, Terrified, and Triumphant. I know that for the rest of my life, every time I rewatch that final out, chills will run down my body like ice water and my mouth will stretch into the biggest possible grin as I hear Joe Buck say, "Here's the 0-1. This is gonna be a tough play. Bryant. The Cubs, WIN THE WORLD SERIES!" #FlyTheW
That one pitch Kipnis fouled off in the bottom of the ninth got my heart racing when it left the bat I thought it was a walk off bottom of the ninth game seven dream come true
Say what you want about Joe Buck but this game was called perfectly. As a Cubs fan it almost felt like I was watching a movie. A night I’ll never forget ❤️💙❤️💙
I remember watching this game freshman year of college…yanks fan, no dog in the fight, and I still went absolutely ballistic after Davis’ homer. People forget just how lights out Chapman was that season, that 3 run comeback was next to impossible. What a game
Everyone gets their ups - cause its essentially a contest between a guy with a bat and a guy with the ball. In like manner, no one should play baseball who cannot take the heat on the mound and deliver a decent inning. Then the pitch command factor takes its rightful place. Who likes to watch a little league game where a kid with no little or no control loads the bags and walks in a dozen runs. How do you think that kid feels even if his mom/dad is the coach? How about the rest of the team? It all starts at the sandlot. Every player should toss 10,000 with a parent. Get a feel for the release point - go a simulated inning with no walks... Now, you got 12 little league arms ready to deliver with the bat or the ball - you got game - you got romance - not a popularity contest with a few hard throwing "wild things".@@jloo6822
What sucks is that there will never be a game as epic as this. Two franchisees desperately trying to end a ridiculous championship drought in a game 7. I don’t think that this will happen in any North American sports league for decades
These postseaon highlights of my cubbies are all i have these last 2 seasons.. I just remember when Davis hit that homerun to tie it up , my wife said she could literally see the blood drain from my face. I was like " no, not again".. That rain delay was god sent lol. Good times!
This is the greatest game 7 of the World Series close to it is the 02 Giants vs Angels 01 Yankees vs D-Backs 91 Braves vs Twins but overall this game 7 of the 2016 World Series is the greatest of all time
Today October 20, 2018 I came back to watch the Cubs win the world series again. I still can't believe the won!!! Love the Cubbies. Screw the Brewers lol...
Not a huge fan of his, but it just doesn’t feel like playoff baseball anymore without Joe Buck’s voice! Literally ever since I was a kid and the first World Series I watched in 1995 always had Buck’s voice. It was even more nostalgic for me when it was Buck and McCarver, reminds me of my childhood, not so much anymore. I like Smoltz, he’s like an encyclopedia of pitching strategies you’d almost never even think of, but still not the same. Ironically the first World Series I ever watched in 95 had Smoltz as a SP for the Braves, and now he’s calling the games.
i remember seeing this live and just how happy i was, and im not even a cubs fan and it was still exciting to watch. and than in 2017, my favorite baseball team the Astros won and it was just like, "Wow."
One of the best games in modern baseball. I remember being center deep in the crowd outside of Wrigley Field in the 7th inning thinking it was only a matter of time. We watched that scoreboard go to 6-6 and watched the game on someone who was streaming it on their balcony. Made it to a bar for extra innings. The bar went batshit crazy on the final out. Walked all the way back to Wrigley field. What a night.
One of the best game 7 of the world series i have ever seen. Im an Astros fan so it really didn't matter 2 me which team won, i just wanted 2 see a great game and that's exactly what this was. Wow! I do kinda feel bad for the home team tho.....
I didnt even like baseball but I’m on my day off i was sitting next to one of my friends named will from Chicago at my job we were watching the game and it just made me love the sport
Man, I'm not even a cubs fan, or even a baseball fan for that matter. I have a family member who is a huge Cubs fan and I've never seen him cry quite like when the Cubs won the world series. I dunno why, but watching any of these championship moments and the reaction of the players, knowing they've won it all, also makes me emotional and sends shivers across my body.
What's really impressive is how many different Cubs players contributed in this last game. I think Kris Bryant was the only player mentioned more than once. A true team effort.
When Rajai Davis hit that 2 run homer to tied the ballgame at the bottom of the 9th, the actual game, did anybody saw LeBron James with Richard Jefferson start flexing???? By the way GO CUBS GO!!!!
As an Indians fan I still come back every once in a while and hope it somehow ends differently... still brings tears to my eyes from the rajai homerun to the last out smh
Bears are actually pretty good, just injured like crazy last two years. I don't know how they will do without Cutler, but if they are healthy.....LOOK OUT!!!!!!
URUSOIMI that is another reason why I don't like Football bears has to many injured players to even play good + I like all sports but not liking football a lot
yes, but if you watch the ACTUAL football players(O-lineman/D-lineman) play, the game is quite entertaining. I don't pay attention to the divas (Wr's/Qb's) that much.
