The problem is the lansing green plant can’t support it, they are already building Cadillac CTS and ats at the same place then if they added right hand drive variants they would either have to drop cars or expand
But.....Add a tune, Cam and exhaust upgrade, CAI. And the mustang wouldn’t come close..plus the price keeps away the riff raff like everyday mustang drivers..keep it a novelty

To be honest, if that's your deal breaker, this car ain't for you. The Mustang is the same. Buyers who want a US muscle car will grumble about this, but wont be a deal breaker. The car is obviously not for your!

The console is the same in the Mustang .. the handbrake is on the LHS of the centre console. Didn't stop me buying one. And wasn't a consideration when choosing to buy one. I'm saying that buying a car like this is emotive ... And not having the console exact is no deal breaker to the buyer persona of who is looking for a car like this
I spent ten days and covered two and a half thousand miles in one earlier this year in Cali and Nevada. I was really impressed with the the whole car. The fuel economy was so good for what it is. Between 8 to 11 litres and I drove it fairly hard. Vision was crap but that’s what you get for a car that looks like a ten year olds dream car. I even slept in it at Yosemite national park, by folding down the rear seat and poking my legs into the boot. The dash is on point. The controls look so good and are incredibly easy to use. Why can’t all modern cars have this setup. Centre console is small but what do you expect from a car with a thumping big driveline and sits as low as a go kart. But it does suck just how cheap they are over in the US. I’m sorry but I cannot justify or even afford to buy one here.
2015 2ss manual is $30000usd / 2018 1ss manual is $30000usd this has auto and sunroof extra $3000 usd to the price . Australia has high consumption taxes than usa ' luxury car tax 33% ' 3% stamp duty Usa don't have on cars
Dont worry, there will be series twom which will have 6 speed manual ,then also the US version ZL1 with supercharger kits and so on, they bring this version out to see how many people will trade there HSV VF's to get one of these and then spend the extra money via HSV upgrades which are like the ZL1 versions anyway, but again spending more money like normal ? Its like the Series one VF HSV, 340 KW for a SV version or the GTs with 430KW, then the series two can out with all supercharged engines no matter which models you wanted clubby, R8, GTS, Maloo, all go 410 KW except for the grange and the senator and GTS, So think about the next 5 years of new models, thats what HSV will be doing, they are niot stupid, VF"s will be traded in, the price will drop on 2nd HSV VF's and then more people will trade thier cars because they can affrod a VF HSV now and then in 5 years 2nd hand SS series one camaros will be out there for sale because people updated to the serie two. :) thats they way the cookie crumbles people ?H
@@andyw_ They have to order Argentina spec cars because theyre most closely ADR compliant. Argentina only get Auto's with sunroofs made. Theyre trying to prove they can do this to US Gm and hopefully that will allow them to put in orders to have manuals, albiet still LHD
@@MichelLinschoten You're right. Everybody looks for different things from a car though. Some people prefer just doing 1/4 mile straight line drags. Others like tack stuff or twisties. It's good to offer a manual for track day guys. HSV said they would love to offer manual to attract more customers they just don't have access to them and have to bring in Argentine spec Autos for this year.
So basically like is said before the aftermarket NA mods are going to go through the roof as far as costs go, basically Harrop will offer supercharger kits with headers and full exhaust and OTR system for around 18 to 25K depending on what you ask for, like heads, cam, full exhaust system, ( including hi flow cats, trans cooler if not already fitted by HSV, so for around 100K you will have a monster of a SS camaro with around 500KW at the rear wheels, or go NA with around 400KW at the rear wheels with OTR, full exhaust system and tune, which while the HSV warranty will be covered if you get the NA mods and even if you have a supercharger fitted, just like the US version, which i have no doubt the saem mods will be used as the SS ZR1 has directly from the states and HSV will do the upgrades or Harrop or all the others who will have the right stuff to do the upgrades and still have the factory warranty 3 years or 100,000KM which ever comes first, so how much will the re sale value be, ( 10,000KM and selling for around 75K 2nd hand but with factory warranty still) especially those HSV enhanced / forgot Walkinshaw will also have their version as well. :)
Well thats true. However I sometimes find myself hitting the fold down cupholder with my knee in my VZ Calais and im short as hell. Maybe HSV will address the armrest/cupholders in the Camaro in the next batch of orders.
@@Studat I get what youre saying Stuart but the public didnt want them outside of car enthusiasts. They saw sales success in their final years because there was a rush to get the last ones. Prior to that sales dropped year on year. Most people just want a Hyundai with 7 year warranty that goes A-B. We'd still have the SS commodore if people bought the base models that are needed to sustain sales so the performance cars can be built on top of that platform.
11l/100 v8 not even a turbo is impressive. The key with this kinda car is that you don’t want waste all your money you just saved buying a sports car at this price point on fuel.
Ok, it's a bloody nice looking car, even though it is last year's model, with a hefty $20k inflated price, auto only, and a shoddy (drive with your arm in your coffee...what the?) conversion. Thank god they didn't devalue it by calling it a Holden.
@old bogan Actually, you couldn't be farther from the truth, mate. Of the 100+ cars I have owned over the years, the MAJORITY have been GM (both US and Australian). The rest have been (mainly) Ford, plus some Mopars (including my current SRT8 vehicles). NEVER owned a Hyundai, but I have nothing against you (or anyone else) owning one.

Getting a laugh reading all the expert comments. You either like the Mustang or the Camaro. Nothing will probably change your mind. If you're buying, then just get the one you like. For true car lovers its usually not about price but how it makes you feel. If you are so worried about cup holders then you are missing purpose and the heart and soul of these cars.
A recent article on Facebook indicated that GM were open to all products coming to Oz if there was a sound business case. That includes Cadillac. The way to make it happen is if consumers get off their butts and buy what's available now. Nothing speaks louder than sales numbers. Manual gearbox is coming in the facelifted version next year.

Lower the head rest all the way, lower the seat and if you slide it forward just a little you can see out that little side window which help sometimes. Just something I’ve had to learn!

Actually that's what I thought as well till I sat in one. I'm 6,4 ft with long legs and long arms you know typical size American LOL. And I fit just fine. The Mustang does have more headroom but both are nice to drive.

I dont understand GM tbh. They have a bigger engine at 6.2lt yet it makes the EXACT same power as the 2018 5lt from Mustang. That is alot of extra capacity they aren't making use of imho. Or could it be a tuning thing to leave room for higher performance models? Still that right there and for an extra $20k more is a bit of a deal breaker for me. My 2c
Peter HMan Coyote engine is actually much bigger physically and heavier. LT1 is a pushrod V8 and the Coyote is a dual overhead cam V8. Completely different types of engines with the LT1 rumbling and shaking the car and the Coyote being a high revving smooth engine.
Pushrod engines have a single cam and 2v per cylinder, the Mustang has double overhead camshafts (DOHC) per cylinder bank & 4v per cylinder. The DOHC design allows for not only higher, but more efficient air and exhaust flow, therefore it can combust more fuel at a faster rate and make more hp/L than a similar displacement (even larger displacement) pushrod design
Visibility has been Camaros number one complaint since its reconception. But every redesign left out better visibility. Chevy doesn't listen to customers complaining nor car reviews. That is why mustang will always outsell Camaro.
I rented one of these in Hawaii for about $100 a day ,these are as cheap as a Corolla to buy over there. The road visibility is by far the worst I have ever seen, in fact I am surprised they meet Australian standards at all. They look and sound unbelievably good, but not seeing where you are going makes it unenjoyable to drive. Particularly like a performance car should be driven.Put on a welding mask next time your in the car to get a rough idea of what these are like to drive.

It looks way better and has that 21st century vibe unlike the mustang, it also has less dodgy spots that seemed to be fulled with plastic, now before you have a go at me for that, YES I know that the camaro also has a TON of plastic in it too, but to me it works better in how its designed. Also if Im going to be real with you, I dont know how you could honestly say that the mustang isn't cluttered and is "simple".. If you want a nice modern, clean design that's "simple", the camaro does a way better job of that. On the mustang theres just a big wall/block of crap plastic with gauges splattered every where making it look very chunky, cluttered and outdated... The camaro's interior is so much cleaner to look at, And when comparing a GT500 (that costs base price of 75K), The camaro ZL1 has a way nicer interior with less chunky plastic while being a bit cheaper... you'd think the GT500 would have a nice interior for its price, but no, Its almost the same interior out of a base model... Just pointing that out.
The U.S safety ratings show that the Camaro does better then both mustang and challenger if you were curious. Go look it up if you want to see it for your self.
The DOD mode and still can only get around 650 KM per tank still good for a 6.2 lt v8 in this day and age, but they did not tell you its on 98 ron fuel and also maybe E85 fuel as well ?
Mustang Gt premium performance manual $40000usd / 2ss auto $47000usd without taxes . If it was Rhd from factory it wouldn't be as cheap as the Mustang anyway , since Camaro 2ss has luxury car tax 33% . Price difference Rhd will be $10000 in Australia
really foolish on GM's part. Why cannot they let HSV just manufacture the RHD version of this car. Either that or just import the LHD version directly. The government should just allow private buyers to import special cars from wherever they want.
seems more like a money grabbing opportunity in regards to sending them to us as LH and then having to do a RH conversion. Do what Ford did and secure a right hand drive production first. I cant imagine anyone genuinely saying that they're happy with that centre console!

It would still be $15000 more than a Mustang gt Premium Manual rhd from Factory . In Uk Lhd its priced with a Audi rs3 , Audi rs3 is a little less in Australia . Priced for our Market really with this Rhd conversion costs
Yes nothing out of Europe comes close for $86k, what about Korea though? I'm sure if the left over change from a Stinger GT was spent on tuning it would wipe the floor with this. Even in stock form it's faster with more equipment. My Stinger needs traction upgrades and tuning to fix stupid issues like it only staying manual for 30 sec then reverting back to auto, more aggressive launch control and always starting in comfort mode. Hardware wise, it needs better brakes.

I’ve owned one for last 4 years it has nothing on mustang especially with a throttle control installed omg quality alone leaves mustang behind , its biggest issue is storage 😂
Looks like the conversions are worse than what conversion mobs do here. The centre console is a joke, the wiring hanging at the foot pedals. No wonder though, HSV have no experience in converting.
I always been a Holden man as the Camaro has got a better looking sharp then the Mustang but everyone to there own choice . Would of been nice if they rename it to the Chevy Monaro like when they use to Export our Australia Holden HSV , VE and UTES cars over seas with a new name .
Lack of built in Sat Nav is a bonus because they are usually garbage and Apple play with Google maps is far superior. Also the tilted down 8 inch screen reduces sun glare.
This car is awesome. However, it will never be a serious competitor with the vastly cheaper Mustang. General Motors really dropped the ball on this one. Ford had the intelligence to build right hand drive Mustangs which they could easily import into Australia and be sold at an affordable price. It's the price of the right hand drive conversion that will keep the sales of the Camaro down. Once again, Holden, as it has been doing repeatedly, totally failed to read the market and General Motors failed to see the opportunity.
One of the worst car reviews I’ve seen, fills the massive void left. Y the gts & Maloo ..... are you kidding or genuinely stupid, the maloo was a ute, the gts was a highly developed 4 door 4 passenger supercharged weapon. No sat nav In 2018 & 85,000 , no forced induction, admitted its suspension was basic, not even up to the caliber of an ss let alone gts. Been a GM buyer for years but I am afraid the mustangs absolutely shit on this latest offering from GM especially when price is considered,
I think the Cameron is going to be a sales flop due to last minute after thought and design work leading to such right hand drive conversion taking price into consideration as shown with those cup holders and squeaky passenger side.

I’ve just test driven the Camaro and Mustang , back to back in Newcastle, and as a chevy fan since my childhood( I used to own a z28 1978) , I should say, the price for this camaro is Stupid! Honestly speaking mustang is more fun to drive with a touch better quality , yet 30 grands cheaper( the asking price for camaro is 96000) . It’s also stripped off of all goodies like MRD,.. Holden is a funny company, after all those years of squeezing chevy motors into Opels and call them muscle cars, now they are selling an almost base camaro with such a hefty price!
