2019 Channel Updates 

Sound descriptions are great, but if you could please disassemble every headphone, reassemble them and then do a 500 point comparison between them pre- and post- , that would be awesome. It should only take you about 200 hours a week. Thank you. :-)

Dissapointed that the changes did not include the introduction of reviewing $1000.00+ cables, magical pebbles, and those dampening feet made of platinum coated diamonds. Really feel like you missed the mark in what your viewers want Metal.

Really excited about the measurements and sound demos in the future! Also, thanks for the shout-out!!! I'm currently looking into measuring headphone outputs on audio interfaces to quantify their capability to drive different headphones. Happy 2019 everybody!

Just having the sound description of your review is plenty enough for me. Like you said, I can still get the build quality and the other information somewhere else, but you're the only one who can do such a great job about the sound description. Ah yes I totally get the no motivation to do this or that and, I can see how this feels like a second job. I do agree your reviews are probably the best on the whole youtube community as you are able to describe the sounds well whether its bass, mids, treble, imaging, and soundstage. I love that format and why I mostly subscribed to you, I love your Q&A's too. The sound demos do sound interesting. I loved clavinetjunkies sound demos since he use the same consistent music files for each sound demo and it's a lot easier to compare the differences in sound. Not sure if they do well with soundstage though? Congrats on your new amp+dac. I didn't know LCD4 was that hard to drive. Interesting to know. Hope you feel better and can't wait for the rest of your reviews for 2019!

Glad to see you found a way to keep this channel going, seeing you mention multiple times on discord that you're losing motivation was quite worrisome. Also props for signal boosting clavinetjunkie, dude clearly puts in a lot of work into it as well.

I'm more amazed to see your HD800 unplugged. Their connectors are pain in my royal A** to take off so I always leave em on and I don't mind the shortened reviews. Your Job comes first so it's totally right for you to not get yourself stressed out. As for me, I think I'm done buying headphones. I might get one more but as far as sound preference goes, I think I have all the flavours I need. No way in hell I'm going to have 20 pairs like Zeos. Anyways Happy New year and good luck.

I love the idea that youll cover the sound more than before! I always come to you to know what the exact sound is on a headphone. There's more people that cover everything else like zeo and the like. Nothing against them, I still like them, but you seem to know more about actual sound then they do. So I'm excited to see more!

Do what you gotta do Metal, you have a lot of fans out here. I’ve been watching Oluv for years, love that guy, he’s a freak’n perfectionist. Word of warning: Oluv has spent hundreds of hours refining his recordings, and he’s still not 100% happy with the results (I am). That Mini DSP will become a second job for sure.

Definitely also getting a minidsp EARS. I was worried that it's a bit pointless because everyone else is supplying measurements already with it every time a new headphone comes out, but it's giving me mad FOMO that I can't throw mine up as well :(

I really just wanna know how long-term wear feels like, your sound analysis, detailed comparisons to other headphones, and any alternatives to cheaper options that you find would be better in the same sound signature.

You should review the CharterOak SP-1, and some of German Mastro headphones.

You're the only reviewer that I can actually call an honest person. It seems to me that this "business" is biased towards people who seem to know what they're talking about. That's why you get people claiming that cables make a difference or other shit like that that makes no scientific sense. I honestly have yet to hear a real difference between different amps so I'm skeptical when a reviewer says an expensive amp is so much better than other cheaper options. I wish they'd just listen to them blind first.

It seems like most of your reviews are for producing but willing to review sound on IEMs? Trying to compare Westone UM Pro 10 to Shure’s 215, 315, & 425. Also, thank you again! I’m new to all things audio so felt uncomfortable going against the tried and true recommendations of most DJs. That said, after listening to all the headphones at Guitar Center, I chose a pair of DT 770 80 omhs today. I thought I might have to return them due to my misunderstanding what DJs needed, but to me they just sounded better than the standard HD-25 or favorite M50x (more neutral) and I found the velour earpieces and size much more comfortable. (I do wish the band swiveled more like Pioneer or AT but guessing the joint would increase weight.) After getting home from my purchase I found your reviews, which confirmed much of what I experienced. Even your note about AKGs. They don’t seem to be favored in the DJ community but I liked them. Anyway, thank you, thank you.

Honestly, I care the most about the "presentation" of any given headphone's sound. Frequency response and signature are secondary, and it either works for me or it grows on me if I keep an open mind.

When are you going to sound dampen that room?

Sounds great, I have one request though please don't forget about cheap headphones. The ones that actually everyone can buy. Most people can't afford or are not willing to spend 1000+ $ on headphones. BTW how is that Topping ? I had D10 but every time I played DSD file it would work just fine but after doing something else for a while and trying to play it again there would be only loud static noise. To solve this I had to reinstall drivers but it would happen again. In the end I have returned that Topping D10.

i think the miniDSP EARS will be a great investment for the channel. Despite the EARS is not measuring treble that well, I mean even for expensive HATS, reading pass 10k Hz are not that accurate anyways.

Did you ever check out Oratory1990's Subreddit list of Headphone EQ Presets? He's done an admirable job of setting a Harman baseline for several headphones. Yup it's kinda annoying when reviews are 10 minutes and have only 2 minutes of sound info. So this is a good choice. NO one buys or doesnt buy a headphone because of "materials/build quality" if it sounds epic. And every one has different comfort levels.. so stupid comparisons wasting time! Keep it up man! Good call.
