The people that are complaining about this vehicle are the ones who ones a domestic SUV that giving them problems and won't admit that the Toyota are a better Reliable, Dependable, and better Quality then there's SUV!!!!
People also have to understand what this thing was built for. It's an SUV that is built for family and WORK. Luxury is dead last on the list. They also need to understand that it's built on the tundra frame, but heavier than the tundra. I mean this thing is heavy as fuck. But it can haul, and will reliably get the family all around town.
Excellent overview Mike thanks. Looking to replace my Rx350 for my bigger family. Everything in this vehicle hit the right notes and some while not perfect I could live with. But that center console needs to go. Reviewers weren't kidding when they said it couldn't be reached. I know if I can't reach it my wife definitely wouldn't be able too. The rest as it stands today I could live with. Perfect comprise of truck/family hauler/long distance cruiser. Come on Toyota!
Good review but the shaky camera started making me sick. Unfortunately, I could not watch the entire review. The fact that it is not constantly being changed by Toyota makes it more reliable....the first and second-year bugs are worked out. Roughly $65K if you shop around for such a reliable vehicle equipped as it is, is a good deal. Toyota is working on a new version.

Does anyone know if toyota has addressed the dreaded ''cam tower oil leak'' that is showing up on the 5.7 motors (several years}? I have a 2014 tundra and have considered a 2018 but very concerned about this issue. This is a very costly fix outside the warranty. Maybe someone from Toyota can chime in.
Bear in mind, - before you decide to buy this one, - the fuel consumption in the city is 31-33l per 100km. On the highway - the best you could get is 14.5l per 100km. So, - it eats a LOT of fuel, but does have a LOT of POWER when you need it.
The SUV is very nice, but some updates would make sense. Maybe making the tail lights LED, updating the interior, less plastic and bigger display screen. :D
I've got a 2016 platinum SEQUOIA, about to get Expedition Max, the SEQUOIA got no room in back. The passengers got plenty of room, none for groceries or bags if you have a family of 6. The Max gives you plenty of storage in the back.
I own a 2006 Sequoia 4x4 limited with 251k miles on it. still running great but i agree that Toyota needs a new design for the Sequoia. If/when I decide to upgrade mine i won't be motivated to buy a newer one when i can buy a 2008 and still get the same things.
My 2005 sequoia has auto key cranking mode. And has rear rolling window, and hidden storage, and air ride rear suspension, and sunroof, and wood grain interior, and its PAID OFF! Tell us why its worth $70 k and whats new with a car???
I understand that people say it's the same SUV for the past 10 years, and it seem like they being cheated with the same car year after year. But these things last a very long time. Just change the oil and go, no pre otw post trip necessary. Also keeping it the same keep the price of parts down. If I was Toyota I keep the same powertrain, I just update the interior. Also refresh the infotainment, and redesign the overall look with LED lights, but keep the option for the regular bulbs for the people who get snow.

But autos/trucks these days unfortunately use touch screens to control just about everything - and that is the wrong way to go. Touch screens are hard to use and difficult (and dangerous) to use while driving down the road - not to mention the glare. Traditional knobs and manual control are easier and simpler to use (and if done right - look nicer) than touch screens. This Sequoia has a pretty nice dashboard, too, and I like the traditional instrument cluster (dial Tach and speedmeter) which looks very nce too.

I'm getting an FJ300 in 2020 (hopefully). I'm not an avid off-roader so I'll be looking to substitute either Lexus 20's or Sequoia 20's on it depending if Toyota will offer them or not.
I bought a 2018 Sequoia TRD Sport in November.. great rig.. bought studded snow tires for it and never had any issues driving it during our crazy snow storm over the last 2 weeks. Had to push snow with it just to get into the driveway. I love the heated mirrors. Meanwhile my WRX STI is sitting in the garage as it hasn't been able to leave the property.
@@arthurmendoza2958 From a technological perspective it definitely is. My buddy has one that the bought last year and it's already had a recall. If looks, cutting edge and freshest look is important to you this isn't the truck for you. If you want boring no drama reliable vehicle day after day without issues then Toyota IS the one. While I'm a loyal Toyota/ Lexus buyer the Ford Platinum is VERY nice truck. I was impressed he had DOUBLE pane windows on both driver & passenger side. Also the windshield was acoustic glass. To top it off it's one very quiet ride.
what are you talking bout. If you're talking bout push 2 start then lexus ls 460 had a real push to start working. Moving key and pushing a button doesn't count(honda s2000) Toyota had all automatic window up and down before any ford vehicle. Scion tc(a toyota brand) had panoramic sunroof before it was popular. So I don't know who you're telling whos stealing whos tech when ford cant come up with anything.
A truly GREAT design, this SUV. Built like a Mosler safe. RELIABLE, proven, powerful and efficient drivetrain. How do I know this? I own one- my 2nd! Never a single problem with either. No wonder they have not changed the basic design. Its like a Boeing 747...a bulls-eye!
@@MichaelLinterman Don't hold your breath. Even a knowledgeable guy I know about upcoming redesigns which he knew about the 2020 Sienna had no info about the Sequioa. With the looming trade war with China and parts becoming 25% more expensive (NOT 25% more expensive vehicle necessarily) this might not happen. Toyota waited too late, too little and more expensive.

Toyota should hire all of Mazda designers ,Toyota drive train and Mazda exterior design It would be a awesome combination ,Hell they could even find Pontiac old design Team ,Even the new Supra looks stupid ,but reliability is the best of the industry

@Set7 Gaming I totally agree. I'm actually more old fashioned, that's why I love the Sequoia. Everything is basic and less likely thing to tear up. I hate push button start. My sister has a push button start Chevrolet Cruze and it has gave her problems. I prefer something old if it means it is more reliable and dependable.

Simple Waze dumbass. In my area, this sequoia is $70,000, at $70,000 fucking dollars I better get push button and a updated interior and LED’s. At $45,000 or $50,000 I can handle no push button, but I’m getting closer to 6 figures so I need the “royalty” options.
Looking like an inferior Dodge Durango. Except, it's a high quality and reliable Toyota product. The aforementioned entity is in desperate need of additional chrome and aerodynamics on the sides of said vehicle. Maybe, more aggressive wheels and Yokohama geolandar AT tires, too. Definitely a viable vehicle in all phases.
It's outdated! But what I won't complain about it doesn't have a V6 twin turbo motor! Hopefully Toyota will update this machine! The Tundra will still be better than any domestic SUV! Quality, Dependability, and Reliability!
North American oil companies would need to remove the sulfur from diesel first. European diesel is 5 parts per million where North America is 55...11 times more. We will have a hybrid truck before we ever see diesel.
