I thought he was actually going to review the new Omen, which is already out, not coming out next month like he says. Instead he basically leaves out the new Omen and the G14. This is just a commercial for microcenter to move a model they know they won't be able to sell given everyone is buying the new Omen instead.

I appreciate you distinguishing between the new specs of the 10th Gen Intel processor inside the mid-2019 design. Prior to mid-2019, there was a different HP Omen design with red markings on the deck lid. The mid-2019 design was carried into June 2020 until July 2020 where there was a new structural housing which also housed the 10th Gen Intel processors....hence the confusion of model years. I game primarily on my desktop but still look for quality and value in every aspect of a notebook including it's touchpad as I want a great price to do productivity work. Having the "gaming" aspect of the HP Omen allows me the option to game on it for whatever reason my gaming desktop is "incapacitated". Ravi Peiris M.D.

How can you say it's not good for productivity work? It's 15.6" diagonal FHD, 144 Hz, IPS, anti-glare, micro-edge, WLED-backlit, 300 nits, 72% NTSC (1920 x 1080) and that's straight from the HP site. You have either written the wrong product code in the description or you are comparing apples to oranges when comparing with the mac (I don't know the mac's specs but it might have an even better display).

Aren't they coming out with a new chassis before the end of this month? New one has Ryzen chips, different key layout and new trackpad from what I'd seen. Was hoping the screen would be good enough for gaming and productivity!

I got the 17 omen with the 2060 rtx and it’s just awesome! Btw you get the best cooling and performance when you set it to default , under volt it and put it on a kllm 4 fan cooling pad . I’m seeing a nice 85c max on the cpu and less on the gpu. On gta5 and wow max settings.

What are the top 3 laptops with 4k resolution screens for productivity work, for future content creators? I liked how in depth you went in this video and spelled out how upgradeable this computer was. It's easy to see the value in it. But it's the a 4k alternative to this or the 2020 macbook pro 16?

If you haven't already heard of the Aero 15X, check that out, it has a 4k OLED ( & 4k 120Hz iirc) option, even the Razer Blade has a 4k option

Help me make a purchase decision of whether I should wait for Apple to release a 120Hz panel option on the 16" MacBook Pro or the $2800 is good enough for now. I have the 15-DH1053NR, (2020v), it's an excellent machine. The one negative is the overheating due to a slim chassis and Omen Gaming Hub. The specs: Intel i7 10750H, Nvidia RTX 2070MQ, 144Hz refresh rate.

I don't know why but the display showing blueish tint seems to be problem-specific your unit. I have 2019 HP Omen 15 with same display specs but seems just good with colour accuracy especially white is just fine without any tint.

Not sure why but I somehow prefer this model over the 2020 redesigned model. I just like it for some reason. Can't really compare since I still haven't seen the new model physically but seeing it on their website and some pics on reddit I can't seem to like it. Hello, suggest you purchase a cooling pad and have the laptop elevated from the pad using something like jar lids or erasers, one for each of 4 corners to allow more air.

I got hp omen 9th gen i7 of this exact chassis with full hd 144hz screen. Screen is waayyy bluish tint from factory but after calibrated the screen with SpyderX, i easily got 98% of srgb with 6500k temperature

Just purchased this laptop with 2070 max q. I'm just worried now about the battery life. It only cost me $1400. I was looking at the Lenovo Legion 7 but that won't be released hear until mid or end july. But I did buy the hp from Amazon so i have a month to return it. Hopefully i will be satisfied. If not Legion here i come.

I have bought this laptop...and it's worth 1676 USD in my country...but it's ok...the performamce is amazing even if i have been using this laptop for 9 month...and there is no thermal throttling or issue...i don't know whether you have a different laptop...because even if we have the same type...it doesn't mean that the performance is equal..i've been overclocking my gpu until i have been getting 20% increasing of the performance...and it's been 8 month...and it's still no issue with the overclocking...and the temperature is good...and i changed the thermal paste to grizzly krynout. Edit: btw i used this laptop for rendering and gaming...and i used this laptop hard enough even i ever used this laptop for 2 days for rendering and gaming without turned off...and guess what..it's still like new... :)...i'm happy with this laptop

The only real issues I have seen on my HP Omen 17 are the crappy speakers that are not loud at all, the fact that there's no battery Health Management options ( for example, you can't set the battery to charge only up to 50-80% to increase lifespan) and the fact the power brick gets so hot (when gaming) that you probably want to spend it in air somehow to allow for more airflow.

Actually, the color accuracy of the 144hz screen for this model is close to 100%srgb. Maybe not as good of a display as the Macbook, but still decent by any standards.

G14 at the price of 4800hs or 4900hs is still way better than this 6 core intel chip, lol it is only capped at RTX 2060 Max-Q, but overall performance, AMD nailed it, 1k more in R20 does mean something.

I currently own a 2017 hp omen 15 and it’s a amazing pc for it’s value,I don’t mind the trackpad situation bc as you said I always use a mouse, I’m thinking about upgrading to this laptop but I wonder how much heat it produce while gaming? Mine gets around 80-90 °C while gaming with a fan under it.

@@m.l6096 hey there, the laptop does get pretty hot yes, I hit 99°-101°c on the CPU when gaming on both performance mode and default mode within the Omen Center, the GPU gets to about 82°c The fans are pretty loud in performance mode, but in default mode they stay pretty quiet I'd say The battery life is not so good, it lasts about 1 hour and 30 minutes most for me Thanks, Teejay

I just returned this laptop. I had the 2019 version with the rtx 2060 and Intel i7 9th gen. Battery was horrible. The battery could drain from 100% to 20% in just 1 ½ hours and that was when I was only watching RU-vid videos....

First of all you probably shouldn't expect a gaming laptop to deliver on battery life, but 1.5 hrs is terrible, it's also in part due to the small battery that HP has and maybe you should try switching to 60Hz when on battery (if you don't have G-Sync-which would others explain this)

It has dedicated gpu only, that's why battery comsumtion is so high. But you can expand more battery by setting it to comfort + power save mode

I have the hp Omen 17 1GX66LA with a 7700hq and a GTX 1070 8gb and I can play COD modern warfare over 120fps with everything in ultra and 1080p and you with an rtx 2060 barely exceed what I achieved in fps ... quite poorly optimized it is the hardware of that laptop
