im sorry to break it to you, but this are not affordable cars for a lot of ppl. red sport starts at 63k, add tax and APR and its a 70k car, that is not affordable for most, imo.
I always forget how fast Qs are for the money. When you consider that the Q60 is a much larger, much more practical everyday car than the full-on sports car Supra, it just makes it even more impressive. Now if only they would update the infotainment system...
@@vq37zu it's a huge improvement, and because Infiniti was one of the first to fully adopt touch screen interfaces it works really naturally, but there's still the lingering issue of the badly aging lower screen/interface and the multifunction screen in the gauge cluster.
I agree in person it's a gorgeous car such ashamed though its performance doesn't match its looks....its a transmission and an interior update short of being great
Nissan and Infiniti should pare the weight on all their cars starting with GTR.to all the Supra lovers this car is the product of German superior tech mated to ugly design by TOY-OTA.
@UCSrzOQKpwtUUE4w0PHSEZqg german superior tech my ass, and it still cant push as much power as the 2j supra. The q60 is a fat bitch, there should be no way it can keep up with a lightweight sports car like the supra.
Thank you for this!! As soon as I seen the title I clicked on it immediately! When it comes to some of the RU-vid channels yours is hands down one of the best I look forward to when you post videos!! It's not just supercars it's actually cars that I see on the day-to-day basis.
I like that you disclosed the mods for the INFINITI to us. It is fine comparing the stock Supra with the modded INFINITI as long as you tell us exactly what has been done to the car.
50 more horsepower wouldn't be worth stating. These cars always have different horsepower when compared. Its about comparing a certain class against each other. If you had better torque or higher rpms you would still smoke a car with 50 more horse.
@Tristan Tang Bro I've had 17 cars dont tell me I don't know what im talking about. 50 more horses doesn't mean jack shit. 300 horse and 350 horse is damn near the same. Only transmission and torque and revvs will decide. Example when they compare cars you can clearly watch cars with less horsepower smoke cars with more. Why is that u think? Ohhhhh transmission and torque. Low horsepower cars are made with high rpms as well which makes for low end power. Ha ...what else must I enlighten you on? Hmmmmmm
The match up's we never asked for, but love lol. never think to want two see these go against each other. Great RU-vid channel and content, Great work!
I love how simple but also detailed are your videos, no huge intros with irrelevant bla bla bla like other channels do, you give us 360 shots, detailed specs written on the screen and boom straight to the races.you deserve way more subscribers and supporters
I'm an M2 owner now but I used to have a Q60 for 3 years and I did everything full bolt ons from AMS, with a carbon Fast Intensions exhaust. Made just shy of 500hp on pump fuel with 5k in mods on a 32k car used with low miles. Ran 11s consistently. The VR30 is an absolute beast of an engine, however you don't get to experience the engines full potential with its weight and lacking transmission. The new Z will definitely fix all these problems for the people that truly about that driver experience, and it will come with a carbon driveshaft.
I can’t wait for the NISMO version of the 400z to drop. The car it’s self is to be announced officially on AUG. 17th. Should drop around early 2022 and I’m hoping the NISMO is shortly after and I’m already ready to buy they just need to say when.
@@milkofthepuppy Nismo would be at best around 9 to 12 months after. Should start hearing news towards end of this year Hopefully. If sales go crazy fully expect Nissan to capitalise on that and release the Nismo with a bigger bump in power. A minimum of 25hp as theyre always conservative. Personally id push to 500hp and 20 inch wheels. GTR front brakes with drilled/grooved discs as standard with GTR brakes all round as an upgrade option. Towards end of production id experiment with an all wheel drive option as Toyota are doing a final end of life GRMN version with M3 engine possibly in 2025
@@blademanx man an all wheel drive 400z NISMO would be effin dirty!! Also agreed with the time line on the NISMO I’m waiting and I’ve got my ear to the ground for sure. When I do get the car the only thing I will add is whatever tune is available. Which I’ve seen a few already they’re saying tested on the Q60 will be available not long after release. I was just watching a RU-vid channel where these guys were testing this stuff and talking about the differences between the Q60 an 400z. Just making sure this will be a VR32 motor right?
My license plates says baby getter “BABYGTR”bc it’s an outback SW LOL. If they release an all wheel drive NISMO 400z I’m just transferring my license plates over🤙
I knew it'd be close because of the AWD but it's the inline-6 with lower RPM torque and the fact that it has 18 more pounds of it, not to mention the 600 pounds less weight. The launch of that AWD is still impressive and I'd like to see if that 20 more HP could catch back up in the long run.
Where did you get 600lb from? And yes everyone knows BMW dogs their HP rating, while Nissan over inflates theirs. Sam probably should have titled it . TUNED Q60.
@@nickmotsarsky4382 apparently Sam did because he was shocked that the Supra won so easily. If both cars were identical horsepower and torque, the Supra was still going to win. Why did he think it would be any different?
@@vincenttang1171 from what I’ve read they can handle 500-600whp on stock bottom end (~600-750 crank), but the weak link is the rods/rod bearings not the block. Block should be good for near 800whp. Problem is, I’m not sure either trans on the upcoming Z can handle more than 600whp. I definitely wouldn’t want to deal with the Q60’s trans either.
@@n9athan The new Z transmission should be able to handle 600whp easily. It's going to be a ZF9 transmission. We already know what those ZF trans are capable of.
I like how Hussein brake boosts, you can tell when he'd getting off the line in the Supra his rear tire is already spinning in some cases. The almost 700 lb difference from the specs of both cars means that Q60 has more grip off the line but PWR means Supra wins every time. Very interesting race, I agree with Sam Supra is not stating it's hot correctly. The race map definitely helps in the roll but so did taking away the inertia for the Q60.
The supras just roll out. The Q60S is AWD, that's why it hooks. Also the 8 speed in the supra is a much better shifting and better geared trans than the 7 speed Q60S
I’ve seen stock 21 GRs on the dyno putting down 380 at the wheels what they claim at the flywheel, that with the 600+ lb weight difference is why Supra catches, but that awd Q is quick from a dig.
I was hoping for stock Q60s / Skyline V37 vs stock Skyline GT-R R34 (only up to Nur trim, not CRS or even Z-Tune trim) the reason is while some always says R35 is successor of R34, but it's more like separate line now, however Skyline line-up is still exist albeit no GT-R trim anymore will be interesting to see how far improvement between Skyline V37 compare to Skyline R34
Since you're featuring tuned cars how about a matchup of a 3.3T Hyundai tuned with all bolt ons vs. a 3.0T Q50 tuned with all available bolt ons, or at the very least, the same bolt ons on each car?
The Q60 is a beautiful car. I would of thought that disclosing the information about the mods to the Infiniti would have helped with what we were seeing...(the guy driving the Q60 yelling saying he couldn't believe it). However, before the disclosing the data, I thought the information that was at the beginning of the video (car weight, power torque) it all made sense. Supra 600lb lighter and higher Torque figure too, of course the Supra was eventually going to go past, its just normal physics and math. Any car guy would recognise that. The AWD is what helps it get all that grunt to the ground, again why the Infiniti was ahead at the beginning of the race. Can't wait for the Z! Go Nissan!
The Red sport is still funded differently and it has the sport+ drive mode which allows it to rev at a higher RPM then the regular sport map I’ve seen the Red sport stock beat supras before.
Hey awesome race! I've got a tuned Q50 3.0t with some goodies on it and just love it. Great video. Off to smash the subscribe button and hit the like....
That new 400Z better have it's A game on against that Supra ZF 8 speed automatic that transmission is top shelf. Stick shifts no chance from the dig drag race
the 400z will not be any much lighter than the q60. I read reports that they aren't spending any money on new platforms so it will be as heavy if not heavier than the 370z
The weight is what kills the infiniti on the high end. But in my opinion its by far the better car. Much more daily driver practical. Nicer interior, quieter ride.
You guys are crazy, I’d definitely take a Toyota/bmw over a Nissan/Infiniti everyday and any day of the year. I own both and the quality difference is out of the water
@@eVerProductions1 Toyota engines last forever. BMW engines last just long enough for the warranty to expire. Then every part costs roughly the value of the vehicle. Nissan V6s are proven to be bulletproof.
@@boost331 the new VR30s aren't bulletproof. Myself and countless other people have had nothing but problems with them ranging from 2015-2019 models that were all brand new and followed factory service guidelines. Their old engines were great though
@@shad3128 Like what? I know the turbos are a common failure once you tune and take them out of their efficiency range. They are small and undersized to begin with.
I can't understand why Sam sounds so surprised..."That's gotta be more than 382 hp!" There is a 600+ lb weight difference. Less than 9 lbs/HP vs 10 lbs/HP. The Supra is going to pull every time once it hooks up. The new Z will be lighter so it should be more interesting
@@Teebxv Incorrect. Every manufacturer rates HP at the crank, not at the wheel. Granted BMWs (the Supra) are often underrated by the factory, so that Supra is likely making 400+ hp at the crank and about 10-15% less at the wheel
The red sport 400 and normal "silver" sport versions of the Q50/Q60 have the same engine and turbos, just the red sport has more boost and an upgraded cooling system. I've seen posts claiming that the normal sport has one turbo while the red sport has a twin turbo, and posts about the red sport having different turbos compared to the normal sport version...this is just to clear up some confusion about that. All Q50/Q60 models have a 3.0L twin turbo with a 7-speed automatic transmission (2016-2021). Older 2014-2015 Q50's had the 3.7L NA engine. And the Q60's of those years were basically rebadged G37's.
You have to understand the HP on paper for both cars is not exactly the same, that B58 in Supra makes more power to the wheel than the Infiniti, plus on top of that Infiniti is AWD car that results in even more raw power loss at the drivetrain. So in reality that Supra makes 400+ at the wheel while Infinity makes 400 on paper, thats the difference. There are forums you can read of guys taking their B58 BMWs and Supras to the Dyno test and they make 60 - 100 hp more than what the number is on paper. Just so you know.
Exactly the 600lbs of weight is a huge difference maker. Also add to that an 8spd gear box vs 7spd. I awould not be surprised if the gear ratio's on the first 4 gears are lower on the Supra then the Infiniti. Lastly the shift speed on the Infiniti is very slow compared to the ZF on the Supra. I own a Q50 and an BMW with the ZF 8spd and the ZF is vastly superior to the Infiniti transmission when it comes to shift speeds. The infiniti's is smoother on shifts however.
That’s exactly why I was gonna comment. The guy driving the Q says he shouldn’t be losing cuz he has 400hp vs 382hp but he doesn’t even consider the power to weight ratio the supra has. It’s a 600lb difference. 18hp more is never gonna make up for that weight difference. I’m impressed the Q did so well to begin with. But In the end, there’s always a price to pay for having all wheel drive.
Im looking at a Q50 but im aiming for the VQ. ive heard and experienced some wastegate issues with the stock turbos and thats my only worry about the twin setup. Ill probably end up tossing on the stillen sequential supercharger and call it a day.
It will be VERY interesting to see how the 2022 or 2023 new 9 speed transmission the Z gets will improve performance in this as well. I hope for Nissan that it is bullet proof. Both of these cars are 🔥. The premium sound systems in the Q60s are beyond incredible from the factory.
Lighter, less drivetrain loss (rwd vs AWD) and much faster shifts on the 9sp give me hope that it will put up some very respectable numbers. Consider the fact there is already lots of aftermarket for the vr30 thanks to infinity and the GTR... Good things ahead for sure.
Great video. I had questions about the tune on the q. The q owner did add a comment here to clear that up. So really this is a tuned q vs a factory supra. Not apples to apples in my opinion.
@@coobydon3093 yes I do .. and yes it will (if it’s stock) but I have a few mods (injen in-takes, ARK cat back exhaust and a few minor adds) still trying to find a tune to get it above 400hp but still have faith in ole Hydie 🤺🤺🤺
@@theshepherd6997 all that mods n u still ain't crack 400 bro naah something aint right bro you should've already touching 400 cause hybrid S already has 360 hp off the back
@@MeowMochi3 well if you want to be more specific it’s a joint chassis development between EDM & JDM. So supra is on Toyota platform shows because supra on a slightly longer , narrower & shorter (vertical height) body than it’s less sportier brother Z4.
That engine retuned in the Z proto is going to hurt some feelings. If the Z is as light as 3400 lbs, i m hoping it is, it will be a blast to drive with a manual transmission. The reveal is coming in a week or two.
@@donovanowens8owens I doubt it. They'll be close. The Z will be lighter than the Sup, but the Sup realistically has 440bhp. Also, manual vs auto (auto always shifts quicker).
Im really surprised that for a car that is 600 pounds lighter the Supra did not win by much. 600 pounds! It's like the Q60 had 4 or 5 grown adults sitting inside while racing the Supra. VERY impressive for the q60.
What are you talking about?.😂 are you seriously comparing a AWD vs RWD? Of course the AWD will always have the advantage on a dragged race 😂 thats why these morons didn’t do nothing but one roll race cause they know the supra woulda smoked it in a roll race.
There was another video where one company has already dynoed the Supra at around 400hp. So, besides that extra 50hp added to the Q, you can now understand the outcomes.
Despite them both being coupes, they're not even in the same class. The supra is a very nimble and low sports car, the Q is a comfortable luxury cruiser that just so happens to be alright in the corners.
@@GR_FOURRARIS You might want to wait until the car comes out before making such statements. It's highly unlikely that the new Z is "blowing the doors off" the Supra.
@@GR_FOURRARIS Your definition of "blow doors off" and mine must be vastly different. It MIGHT be faster, but that hardly qualified as "blown doors." It would need a significantly more powerful engine for that. 400-450 won't get it done.
@@darrell9616 I stand corrected "blow the doors off" was deff an overstatement. I really just meant it was gonna be an overall better package IMO. Price, performance, plus looks(subjective I know) and the fact that a manual(for me very important) will be an option on the new Z. I know the Supra is great car and I accept that but as a poor person I look forward to the Z being a cheaper alternative. Even if the supra came in a manual i would not be able to afford it at $51K i could go for 2.0 with manual but still no word on whether it will be an option.
Sam your killing it man awesome Content and exactly what we wanted to see aswell that supra really showed it's potential on top end being light weight and only rwd launches pretty good aswell
