Had same problem with same Carli track bar as part of their leveling kit. Instructions on how to measure distance between eyelets is pretty vague, but you can get it to center your axle by shortening overall length by screwing eyelet in (cw). Problem is that you’ll need to unbolt eyelet end to do so, and it’s a guessing game how many turns in you’ll need to go, so a few iterations.
Bros the Carli instructions for their track bar are super clear. Gives u the length u need to make the track bar with the corresponding lift kit height. I measured twice and installed once. Done and centered and no more death wobble
I would advise putting a tack weld On both sides of that nut.. Otherwise it will eventually start turning back and forth at the thread.. Of course It will not be able Really go anywhere. So as the truck bounces up and down it will turn/move between the 2 halfs of the track bar at the adjustment thread instead of at the ball joint.. Eventually causing wear to the threads... ... You get it where you want it.. Buzz a couple small tack welds.. Make weld small enough so You can easily remove it with a grinder& cutting wheel.. 🙉🙈🙊👤
Do you have a video reviewing the Carli Level Kit you installed? I couldn’t find one. If not, how’d you like it? Big difference? How was it before and after the install off the add-a-pack? I’m thinking about getting a carli kit for my 2014 f350 and need to figure out if I need all the extras or if the kit by itself will be good. Was thinking either the commuter or the backcountry kit. Would love to know what your thoughts are!
Personally i think upgrading is a waste. Yes the ride quality is minimally better but if youre like me and your truck only sees off road trails on the weekend to hual a dirt bike somewhere then its not worth it to purchase resivors. Yes i will give it to carli you can feel a difference, but a $4,000 difference? I dont think so. The basic kit will do the trick
I had the ready lift 2.5 with bracket on my 19 250 with 35x12.5x20 and it was centered. Replaced with Carli springs and Fox shocks and added Carli shims to correct caster. Drives much, much better and tracks straight, but now the axle is off to the right .5 inch. The truck sits only slightly higher so how did I get off to the right?? Shouldn't higher pull the axle to the left?? So now I'm rubbing on right tire front when I turn to right and go uphill. Thinking about going back to stock bracket and getting an adjustable track bar. Main question... couldn't you remove the bar, jack the truck, center the axle, drop it, and then adjust the bar length? Thanks for the vid!
@@mcmahansgarageLol. That why I'm an accountant and not a mechanic. Guess it would be a pain unless I could lift it from somewhere other than the axle itself and/or I got it perfectly right the first time. We both know the latter isn't going to happen. I'll let you know, but there's a reason 2 hour jobs take me a day. 🤣
I thought I was going crazy until I saw this video and read the comments. I measured the Carli track bar four fricken times and after install I was off the same amount as you. It sounds like this must be normal and I should just leave it alone instead of fighting it.
I called cjc yesterday and they advised me that on the leveling configuration in order to have proper articulation, they have the measurement on that track bar set that way on purpose. I know it’s annoying. I really thought about getting a pmf trackbar but I’m going to leave it alone. I love carli parts but this one didn’t really make sense to me at first either. Both me and my dads trucks have the same trac bar and have had the same result. Hope this helps.
No need to be aligned....just adjust the steering linkage and replace your steering wheel straight......and for the track bar if is just one quarter of inch difference on one side its ok........even on stock form the front axle isn't centered!!!!
Is it possible to install this incorrectly? Which direction is the bend in the track bar supposed to be? Toward the front or rear. I have the full kit on my F350 and hear clicking turning wheels fully right or left and I’m also a 1/2” off center for the axle. Need to fix this!
would it be possible the track bar is backwards? my adjustable on 2020 the gussets welded to the eye is the bottom(passenger side) with a ball joint and him joint is top side (driver). just a thought, as i have not installed mine yet and no idea of the brand on mine.
It is a lot easier to use a bottle Jack to push the track ball joint out.. I mean, I like beating on s*** with a hammer just as much as the next guy but. Up under there It can be a pain in the ass to hammer on. . And you won't bugger up ur threads Or your fingers or anything else...👤
You have to actually screw it in and out.. Try screwing it out a little ways..... Yes i'm a mechanic.. That's a rough measurement they gave you.. It will get you close.. It's not set in stone.. Move it where it needs to be.. 🙉🙈🙊👤
