Chrysler needs to put the Pacifica hybrid engine in a work van and enter the work van market!
@MegaDobieDog
@MegaDobieDog 11 месяцев назад
Toyota already did that with theirs but for reasons only known to them selfs they sell them only at the asian RHD markets. Which i guess would work in UK since the steering wheel would be on the "wrong" side of the car.

It's a solid engine, but I'll never get used to the idea of a 1-litre engine under the bonnet of a medium van!

@valkman761 Год назад
@@tomroberts883 Try looking under the bonnet of one. It's a compromise already with the petrol engine. The power of the electric motor is comparable to the 1.0 litre engine. There would be no added benefit of a larger engine.

Yeah seems like they shot them self in a foot with this one. I mean all the other models like mondeo are using the "standard" CVT set-up. Just upscale the gearbox so it can handle the weight of a fully loaded cargo van and wha-bam u got your self a hit. Same with the big Transit.

Does anybody know how many litresof petrol it needs to charge the battery from completely empty to 100% whilst idling? This van would be perfect as an off grid camper. Full tank would probably off grid for a whole week with tv, cooking, heated floor/shower.

How would you utilize the 400volt DC battery pack for that type of usage? It has no 12V outlets which take power from the main battery pack

It’s staggering how “motoring journalists” still have no clue what they’re talking about with electric and hybrid vehicles - the regenerative braking is not something that magically extends your range, it regenerates (hint hint) some of the invested energy from your speed back in to the battery instead of heating up the friction brakes. It happens in almost all electric/hybrid vehicles regardless of which driving mode you’re in, it’s mainly a question of whether you prefer using one or two pedals for driving, but the effect is the same. I drove a 2.0 Transit diesel through the alps on holiday and really wished it was a hybrid, so that I could charge up at campsites overnight, but most of all use the regen on all the downhill sections instead of overcooking the brakes which is what happened on my journey. Please, ignorant journalists, please read up on the tech before making your very biased/judgy reviews.

Sorry I dont get it , why it is rolling with engine on when it is only used as a generator , and not driving the front wheels .Its still there working or not , weight stays the same either You are driving in electric or petrol generated electric. On further note, concept actually works, but maybe not in Your test environment , and with onboard generator, will not leave You stranded with an empty battery. For quick runabouts service/pickup/delivery and occasional longer trip it fits my business needs more than You know it. However If this 1l 3cyl engine is used to drive front wheels directly , then hell no, and forget all i mentioned above.
@msd835

cause if you have the engine driving the front wheel, then you will need a transmission and drive system, whereas a generator mode will only need motors to drive the front wheel

Them public charging stations cost $15,000.00 US each... How many you think they are going to build outside the big city. That can afford to tax the rest of the public to pay for them? It's astonishing how bad this review is. For god's sake, do some research before you start spitting out your facts. Check Autogefühl channel for this very same car review and you'll get a completely different point of view which considers every aspect of this vehicle with ACTUAL knowledge. This was like, "okay, we got this vehicle for the next 30 minutes, let's get it wrapped up quickly". The engine sound is just what you expect from a petrol engine and there's zero difference between hybrid mode and empty battery regarding the performance. In full electric EV Now mode it's trying to calm down your driving to extend the range as far as possible - that's where the performance is justifiably lowered. And about the range, of course it's short but that's because it's a PHEV. Who on earth would make a PHEV with a 60 kWh battery pack? BTW, full electric eVito has 85kW motor - less effective than the Transit PHEV electric motor or the 1.0l Ecoboost engine alone. Transit motor power output is 100 kW with a peak output up to 160 kW! eVito has a 60kWh battery pack with 192 mile range, but in real world cold winter, it can drop down to even 60 miles!! Talk about buyers remorse after finding that out. We have the PHEV Transit and last 350 miles has been on zero petrol consumption. After buying it, I drove 155 miles back home from the dealer on all petrol with a mileage of about 30 mpg. That's comparable to our earlier diesel Transporter which would've cost actually more with current prices. We got 930 miles on the vehicle and it's still on its first tank of petrol (50 liter tank, half full now). It suits our business, it doesn't suit everyone's. That's why you got OPTIONS! Some journalists just doesn't seem to understand the logic on PHEV's. Always moaning about how the full electric range is too short.

So how many miles does this do on a full tank of petrol please?
@valkman761
@valkman761 11 месяцев назад
@@brenbren9551 it's wrong vehicle to you if you ask that question. As I use kilometers, you get up to 50km on electricity and as that runs out, your fuel consumption is in range 8-10 liters/100 km. Something like 500-650 km on full tank of gas without any charging. The 50km is possible in city speeds, in cold climate more like 40 km if you start from a warm garage, maybe 30km if it's freezing cold. It's pretty much dependent on how much heat you want in the cabin. Combined petrol consumption in my driving has been around 3.4 liters/100 km as most drives can be taken care by electricity. Quite a leap from earlier T5 Transporter with around 10l/100km
