2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer - Is It Worth the Hype? 

So its a nicer Ram Tahoe that a person will lease for about 60,000 miles after which comes the electrical and mechanical issues.

Andre is a treasure as a previewer and reviewer - always factoring all the points of views and interests with the details and features. I love his 'to me' awareness of a dispassionate objectivity as the foundation of value and truth/fact.

My guess as to why the flag is reversed may be military inspired. The idea is that flag is always moving forward or blowing in the wind such as when it it mounted on vehicles.

You didn't mention it, but that engine compartment is shockingly simple. It isn't covered by hoses and wires like most. You can actually see the entire engine, the exhaust manifolds, etc. In contrast, the new Bronco looks like a snake pit.

chrysler always seems nice for the first couple years of ownership.

Love the interior, big miss on the exterior styling though. Wish it paid more homage to the original.

Looks great inside & out. If I was 15 years younger & had the 5 kids with Jennifer Connelly (as originally planned), then it’d be a toss-up between this & an Escalade.

Love these huge American SUVs living in Europe they just are so different to what we get, and having done road trips in the US in Escalades and Yukon from GM the space and comfort is incomparable to anything European

I was a Jeep guy until they stopped making the Cherokee XJ.........20 years ago. That simple, inexpensive, utilitarian vehicle was an absolute beast in the snow, with even halfway decent tires. I have not looked at any reliability metrics, but I don't trust Stellantis/Jeep quality control. Definitely showing my age, but I HATE the move from transmission and transfer case levers, to buttons and dials. It seems that in everything, manufacturers are doing their damndest to isolate users from anything tactile and/or mechanical.

I think it would be worth the asking price if it were as well built as a Toyota Land Cruiser and you could drive it worry-free for 10+ years. The reality with any full-size domestic luxury SUV is it has essentially the same mechanical components as the same manufacturer's base fleet trucks at triple the price with triple the electrical complexity and a ton of depreciation in a short amount of time. Vehicles like this are designed to be leased for three years, and then the dealerships get double revenue from both the second owner's purchase as well as ongoing repairs once they fall apart out of warranty, which also tends to expire conveniently at three years. It's a vicious cycle that's never going to end because it's too profitable; there's no money to be had in reliable vehicles.

I had one of those S-10 Blazers. The biggest problem is the AC Condenser was defective.

I'd love to know how you rate this against the Yukon (AT4 specifically, but just the platform would be enough)

@TFLnow, does the Grand Wagoneer come standard with skid plates? I know there isn't an All Terrain package like there is on the ordinary Wagoneer, but wasn't sure if they just were standard like the tow hooks are.

Nice first drive! Let's be real... how many people are going to buy this to rock-crawl and do serious off roading? (2?) This is a Lux-Mobile! It's nice to see we can still build a luxury vehicle that is about quiet, super comfort and not about "road feel" and 1G skid pad handling. Not all of us want that.

What is the axle ratio, and does the rear axle have a locker? Does the strip model have an axle locker? Authentic Low-Range? Does the strip model get a higher, less-desirable axle ratio? Many questions that have yet to be answered.

Has a nice powertrain. Exterior is okay, not sure about the size view either but I think it does look different then anything else. I like the wheels, will be watching for a set of take offs to replace the chrome clad wheels on my Ram.

Interesting that they went with the SRT 6.4 Hemi instead of the truck 6.4 Hemi which is designed for towing longevity. What is the rear axel ratio? Love the Agave interior, shame its not in the GW you are showing. So nice to see something other than black, brown or gray interiors. How does the Macintosh system compare to the Harman Kardon system?

Love the new Wagoneer, it's very beautiful and the technology is outstanding.

My neighbor has a new 2023 Grand Wagoneer Series 3 with the new Hurricane 3.0L twin-turbo inline engine that is a thrill. The Series 3 is the top shelf and it stickered for $111,000.00 which is more than I would pay for any vehicle regardless of make. That said, the interior of his new GW puts his Mercedes S Class to shame, and his is White with 22" Chrome wheels so it looks the part on the outside as well. That said, it is huge!

Andre, I know you're a Ford guy but, I have noticed that grin you get on your face when you hear that Hemi Roar! Just sayin'!

Is it worth it? Against the $88K fully loaded GMC Denali or $86K Expedition Platinum? Hell yes. Sure, $91K is a bit higher, but this has equipment unavailable in the class plus the power and performance(4WD system as well) make the difference.

When can we expect a 6.4 in a Ram 1500 XLT with less farkles. The pricetag to get one of these is just prohibitive. But I'd like to have the 6.4 from the 2500 in the 1500 for it's friendlier suspension for a DD.

I really wish it had a bigger grill. It has 3 rows of grill, if the main jeep bars grill stretched down to the middle black grill I think it would make the face just all the more commanding

In the age of retro being cool again and the price people are paying for the old wood sided wagoneers of the 80’s it’s a missed opportunity to offer no type of wood outside packages if only just for a launch edition obviously 98% of people don’t want wood but they could sold a package for a small production run

The interior is great and luxurious the exterior is just big, that's it, it has no style of flare to it. Take a look at the other big SUVs, they all have some style to their exterior. I'm not talking about their reliability or anything else like that, just their looks.

Let us see the 10,000 Lbs, slippery boat ramp test in both 2WD only model versus 4WD low-Range. Does 4 Low lock the differential? If not, perhaps the 4 wheel drive is just an overpriced option that is more like an all-wheel drive set-up?

Compared to the competition, the GRAND WAGONEER S3 wins without reservation. It just has so much more to offer on every level that it is silly to even compare it to the other half baked SUV’s. Reliability is commensurate with the competition or better…Chevy’s fall apart fairly quick, Land Rover’s are horrid, Cadillac is still GM half ass designs. In person, the GW is impressive and understatedly handsome.

It is worth it especially to own something that not everyone and their brothers have already. The caddy's seats are horrendous compared with the outgoing model not to mention the reliability of current gm products. The navigator is nice but its a V6, yes plenty powerful but there is no replacement for a large V8.

I am not sure why Nathan is complaining about the tire size. It is the exact same tire size as the Yukon AT4 that he says he loves. :-P Anyway, a Hurricane I6 turbo PHEV with a 40+ mile electric/ 450+ mile gas range and some skid plates would make this a perfect vehicle.

The exterior just looks cheap for some reason to me. The interior is super nice but looks like it’s going to be a big barrel of problems knowing the brand.

Front end looks too much like a GC and the sides do give you that Tahoe look. Doesn’t have its own look IMO.

You guys are missing the point. I want to see the Wagoneer Series 1 , fleet/strip model. I want to see what wheels and tires one gets with that vehicle. I also want to know if the rear windows are fixed, or does the rear quarter glass pop open like my Dodge Caravan? Fixed windows without ventilation is likely a deal breaker at this price point. Please don't tell me that the vehicle has rear AC to make up for such an engineering blunder, you guys are too easy on these manufacturers. I am in the market for a Wagoneer to use it as a highway cruiser for comfort, and I want to Tow a 10,000 boat. an this vehicle pull a 10,000 lbs boat up a ramp? How about that for a real-world test? I am concerned the cargo space is too small once I place the spare tire in the back hatch. I also want to know what kind of a 22" wheels and aggressive tires that I could put on the Wagoneer in after-market without rubbing the fender-well. Are the mirrors on the Wagoneer as good as my Super-Duty mirrors with convex lenses? How is the viability when driving and parking? Is there a front camera on the strip model? It seems like visibility of the front bumper is challenging. I want to see a cargo comparison to The Chevy Suburban. There is too much hype about gizmos, and the important, real-world, features are missed.

Love the interior but can't get past the Grand Cherokee L look. Doesn't want to be called a Jeep but it looks like a Jeep. No retro nostalgic style to warrant the nameplate. Excited and dissapointed at the same time

Untrue, not every wagoneer and grand have the 10k towing capabilities, only available on some. Spent the past few days at 5 different dealers, finally found a grand wagoner with the correct tow package 9850

My guess is the Wagoneer will sell to the core Jeep fans but run into headwinds after that. At this price point, I would go for a Land Cruiser (Yes, I know) or Defender. In the Jeep showroom, I would go for the Grand Cherokee L. As the former owner of a 1991 Grand Wagoneer, I find the styling to be a big disappointment. Last, and on an entirely separate note, looking at the arc of automotive history, we are still in a relatively low cost-of-gas era. That will change at some point.....count on it.....and vehicles like these will be the first casualties.

If you own a cabin cruiser and have at least 3 kids I can see the use case for this. Who else? How many people like that in the United States?

Does anyone else notice Andre is always nice but Nathan always seems to be having a bad day when he’s doing a review with Andre? He can’t just agree with anything Andre has to say. It’s honestly off putting watching Nathan interact with Andre. Anyway that is one sweet ride!!

Based off the Ram 1500 frame. Yet we still can’t get the 6.4 hemi in the Ram 1500. AND it has more horsepower and torque than the Ram 2500 6.4. Make sense? Call it the max tow package like Ford. Take a Ram 1500, 6.4 hemi and stiffen up the rear end!!

Been looking at these the past few day. If you want the 6.4 hemi get it now. I am debating on whether to wait for the tornado or not. Plus saving more of a down payment wouldn’t hurt. Still don’t understand why the wagoneer has softer seats than the Grand wagoneer. Still think it needs to come in hydro blue

I don't understand Jeep they are coming out with all these new products and they can't even support what they have already sold. I have a 2020 Jeep Gladiator Overland that we paid over $50,000 for and it's been setting at the dealer for the last 6 months waiting on parts that the dealer has no idea when they are going to be able to repair it WTF?
