@SamCarLeigon What was the temp and DA for these runs? My stock Q50 Redsport AWD did the 1/4mi in 12.8sec. The 13.3 in your test seems a little slow? Must have been really hot/humid and at a high altitude, or the car maybe has some miles on it and needs a little tune up. Might be nice to add that info to the stats of future videos since it does have an effect on the performance numbers. Still great content as always.
It’s alright. Stock to stock power to weight ratio allows it to win. The vr30 is much better then the 3.3 t. It can get 741whp on e43 on stock internals. The best route to mod the car is getting the lightest variant q50 and moding it. There’s literally 0 point of getting the redsport as it’s the same engine with a different tune.
@@2seep “It’s alright” when it walked the VR30 with 200 more pounds 💀 Stock for stock the 3.3tt is better, obviously Kia is understating its power. Also there are Stingers getting >700whp
@@mrscottmescudi10 well the fastest stinger right now is just 750 hp I’m pretty sure. Mod wise there is a lot more options for infinity to build more power. Ffs they just came out with new turbos for the stinger
@@2seep Excuse me but the internals on this particular Kia engine are more robust than those in the VR30. Yes, the VR30 is a more 'advanced' engine but it isn't necessarily a better engine. The VR30 makes more hp but the Lambda makes more torque, inherently also because of its larger displacement.
Finally! I’ve been waiting for this. A few years ago. I had the same dilemma. Stinger GT AWD or Q50 S Red Sport. The stinger is good. But the Infiniti seemed plush and well built. I bought the Infiniti.
God told me that even though there is more aftermarket on boosting the VR30 engines in the Q50 the engine will not be able to handle the power. That will cause engine to fail. The Stinger on the other hand has better engine platform. It will be able handle those mods better.
@@noobz5056the q50/q60 can get 741wheel horsepower on e43 and upgraded turbos, and reliably. The stinger starts to blow up at aground 600 wheel horspower.
The Stinger may go down as one of those "you remember how awesome that car was" conversation starters. Gobs of power, great tech, ease of use, above avg reliability, beautifully styled, and juuustt the right size(with high functionality to boot), what more could you ask for? Sure, the M340i is still the speed king, but blends with all of the lease special 3-Series. The Audi S5 may have higher build quality, but costs far more than GT2/Tribute and is smaller. C43?? Dont even think about it. And Infiniti and Lexus(sans IS500) aren't really in the conversation, along with the TLX. Shame that Kia couldn't figure out how to keep the Stinger alive...yet.
@@lawabiding2576 honestly just needs to update the transmission and add a limited slim and better heat exchangers for the cooling system and I’d be happy
As expected. Absolutely love my stinger offers everything you basically could want. Came from a 2015 q50 3.7 and have driven red sports and the transmissions are just terrible. Stinger always impresses! Sucks infinti hasn’t changed the Q50 since it came out in 2014
You don’t know what the q50 3.0t are capable of you know nothing about cars. People who drive 3.0t 50 are clueless doesn’t know how turbo boost build and send it, you don’t use pedal shifting it’s trash. Drive it as auto and let the car do its thing. I would shit on that stinger, it’s the driver who can’t drive for shit. Simple tune on those q50 3.0t can get up to 500-600 stock internal. That Kia ain’t going push no where 💀
@@ChingchongWong-u5tand that doesn't make any sense I have a 2019 Q70 and the interior is the same as a 2010 M35. I also have a 2018 Kia Stinger GT2 and the interior is 10 times more modern
It needs to because their fans are toxic and think they have the best cars on the planet when they get beat by a kia, fake AMG, Mid trim M car, and Over priced VW with 5 cylinders and a turbo basically all of its competition
Not even, the Q50 would’ve won but the guy driving doesn’t know what manual mode is nor does he know how to shift, also there’s 1000hp VR30s for a reason the Infinitis engine and car itself has way more potential than a shitty Kia
who cares so close and who races on the road why do you car guys do rthis meaning less just ego for you guys you dont buy theses car to race so why the whole yourtube full of this , not why people buy cars well hope not
@@ChingchongWong-u5t I can see that you struggle with reading comprehension. The original argument is that a Q50 is a glorified altima. Q50 AND altima do not share the same transmission, engine, any anything else in common. With your little IQ logic, I guess a Porsche Panamera is a glorified VW Jettta since VW owns Porsche. Now go on and learn to comprehend context before attempting to make a rebuttal.
@@avis1978the q50’s drive terrain is so ass I used to have one made about 530 WHP and I was getting dragged by N/A 5.0’s and SS’s finally got rid of it because it couldn’t put the power down ended up getting a 2023 M340I it’s on a whole different level
@@avis1978incorrect, it’s 352 wheel horspower vs 374wheel horspower. 500 pound difference gives the stinger the win. That’s why it’s a lot better to get the base q50 and mod it as it’s the exact same engine with a different tune.
@@JP-dj5zdI didn't buy either, but I'd buy the Nissan product for sure before Kia. Just go to a Kia dealership and tell me their salespeople are not from the carnival.
I actually sold my G37S and change my mind getting Q50 Red sport got KIA Stinger instead! Former BMW M Vice President of Engineering Albert Biermann did great job on Stinger!
I have owned both the INFINITI Q50 and the Kia Stinger. I can say without a doubt the Stinger is the better car. The transmission in the Q50 is just monumentally slow. It isn’t efficient and stock it just doesn’t have the power until you rev it out. That 2023 Q50 is almost identical to the 2016 Q50 I had. They just never changed it. Fun Fact: INFINITI is currently the only major manufacturer that doesn’t have a single EV or Hybrid model at all in their lineup. At one point they claimed that every single car in their lineup would be at least a Hybrid by 2020. Now they still don’t have a single Hybrid vehicle. INFINITI sales have declined dramatically in the last few years. They need to innovate to stay relevant.
It really does suck knowing that the Stinger is going away. It's such a slick, well designed and engineered car. Hopefully one I'll get to see in my garage one day.
@@Unxpekted Not exactly "cheap" for me, brother. I have other financial responsibilities than buying a 35-40k dollar car right now, hence the 'one day'
@@Unxpektedcheap? I bought my 2020 AWD gt brand new during COVID for 36k, which is a great deal, now that car is costing 50-60k, which is insane imo. That's almost base C8 1lt money. Nothing is cheap anymore.
This one's puzzling. The G70 and the Q50 RS (from 2016/17 I believe) were either neck and neck or the Q50 pulling slightly ahead. And the G70 weighs less than the Stinger.
@@aireskylinetm8480 you are thinking of the blackwing, regular v is surprisingly, pretty close even though it should be more faster than it is since it's got more torque, and a 10 speed... you'd need the v-blackwing to wipe the floor of the stinger... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sl85WGnVnCI.html
I cross shopped these two cars in 2019. The Stinger wins in every comparison. Exterior/interior design and practicality. Q50 - no HUD, no cooled seats, dated infotainment system, minimal driver assistance, and many more things make it less of a daily driver. The only thing the Q50 has going for it is its badge. If you want a premium badged car, buy a Genesis G70. And btw, the Stinger/G70 comes with a 10yr 100k powertrain warranty.
You are right that the Stigner/G70 are superior cars than the Q50 in almost every way possible but the Q50 is RWD based. I have a loaded G70 and people still confuse it with Bentley lol
I love my Stinger, prettiest car on the road and grunt to spare. I despair that Kia are taking this car off the road as a token to green and woke brigade.
So happy I picked up the 2023 GT2 AWD stinger in snow white with red interior. This car always puts a smile on my face every time I see it and drive it. No car I've owned does everything so well yet it's really sad to see it go. Too many are buying boring SUV's sadly and car manufacturers have to go with what the demand is to stay in business.
I told you Sam -as I told other car channels - Nissan engines lack torque compared to its competitors and this race proves it. Go to 70's 80's 90's up to now and you will notice other competitor's engines with the same displacement produce more torque than Nissan.
I’m actually pretty suprised by this one. That Nissan transmission must be pretty terrible. It’s pretty accepted that the stinger is slightly underrated, but even if it really made 400 crank, it still should have lost. Stingers a big girl.
Sam is literally the worst RU-vid driver ever. He can be in a Bugatti and race a Jetta and lose. All he does is stomp on the accelerator with all his strength. Horrible
@@ChingchongWong-u5tit has in 2018. It’s the SAME.. TRASH! Idk about the engine but I heard that tranny had a couple tweaks. Infiniti’s Q’s are a joke! I was going to buy a Redsport 400 couple months ago. But after watching doug demuro’s review on that & the stinger. The stinger wins EVERY time. Looks? Stinger, Engine? Stinger? Reliability? Pricing? Quickness? Top speed? Reliability ffs, the turbos! The goddam turbos in that q50 rs are freeeaking terrible..!!! The INTERIOR ooohhh my goodness another 2014 q50 different YEAR 😂 Brotha the q50 is an absolutely joke with that infotainment + that ancient weird double screen that takes ages to react to the touch of hand. Wtf is this 2010!?!? Kia wins hands down, but ofcourse nobody wants them.. it’s a KIA 😂 whatever, mire for me 🤙🏽
The 3.3 is not a new engine. It's been Kia's defacto V6 for almost two decades now. Proven engine to say the least and easily the best one in their portfolio, even better than the Tau 5.0 if you ask me. The only German input it received was tuning from Biermann for this particular application. The 3.5 iteration in the newer Genesis models does have a few traits of German engineering in them, but they're still 80% based on the 3.3.
At this price point the M340i is the obvious choice. Infiniti should be ashamed for dragging this same design inside and out year after year. I’d love to see the Stinger get one more refresh…shame.
@@robsnow2099 fully loaded m340 goes over 70k OTD. They don't seem to discount at al, while Kia can be had under 50k with negotiation. but yea at that price point i would spend little more to get m3. But m340 is a fantastic car nonetheless
@@kenyaswallow5782 everyone doesn't want a fully loaded. And mid spec 340i is still above a fully loaded Q50 (which would make the 50 cost more...which is my entire point). As we know the Q50 hasn't changed almost at all in a decade! So "fully loaded" doesn't mean much but it def will cost you.
Kia smoked Infiniti but I expected that to happen. Infiniti has been ignored by Nissan for almost a decade lol nothing new. Interior sucks, transmission ouch and the 400hp dinosaur 😅. Honestly Nissan and Infiniti are very lazy! I blame tuning and 3rd party vendors cause yes they’re very tunable vehicles and aftermarket market parts are cheap and sold everywhere for those two but still! Infiniti needs to step up! $58k vehicle! For $58k you can get a lightly used 2020 - 2022 Maserati Modena SQ4 that sounds better, looks better, and is quicker. Can you race a Ghibli Modena SQ4 Vs that Q50S Redsport?
first roll race , you put it in drive, and then right when you started the race, instantly upshifted ( @5:16 ) in auto , it will upshift and put it into a temporary manual mode until it reaches redline where it upshifts on its own but goes back to auto . you can hear the upshift and sluggish acceleration . . and then you say " the transmission in this car " as if it was the cars fault. if this was legit, the car would have downshifted to 2nd or 3rd gear , which don't accelerate like yours did, furthering the point.
No idea how the Q50 could have lost this. Every other test times I have seen has a Q50 edging it out in the 60 and 1/4. Maybe it's due you were shifting right at the punch, and quick shifts throughout. Driver mod and I bet we'd see different results.
Dude sucks at driving. Bro did a roll race in 3rd gear in an infiniti. Anybody who's ever driven an infiniti knows that 2nd gear pulls are the sweet spot.
I would like to say you do have the CW wrong. The newer 2022+ stingers actually got lighter over the 2018-2021 model. They are only around 4023 CW. They lost like 150lbs.
These cars are trash dude trash mainstream cars are all trash. Oversold for mediocre handling and performance. Good luck putting an extra 50K just to make them the way it’s supposed to drive.
The q50s red sport opel edition is truly amazing looking in person. It has Green Blue and Purple color shifting speckles in it. In video the car appears black but in person you wouldn’t believe it wasn’t a colour shifting wrap. It stands out so much and changes colour easily in any light
Hey guys, I agree with some others on the channel. Saying that infiniti should just put the pasture, they have good quality and are solid cars! They are dead to the other brands they models like q50 and qx80 both have basically the same dash layout and body since launch minus the tiny micro changes. So when I was looking at 2022 q50s I just couldn't do it, looking at 2020 a4, 330i and even tlx just way newer and modern. So took to long to stay relevant!!!
Gearing & transmission. That fucking car needs erased from the industry. Wtf is going on with Infiniti? Whole q50 trims are a joke. They offer less & have the steel balls to ask for more $$$. THE CAR DOESNT EVEN HAVE GODDAMN COOLED SEATS… WTF 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Ya broski. A 3.7 q50s is the same price as a Kia stinger GT2… do what u want with that info ;) I’m getting myself a STANGA 🙌🏽
Missing the m340 there which is faster then both of them , Q50 is a nice car but the weak spot always has been their transmission.anyone who knows cars knows it’s not about hp but about transmission and torque, that’s what wins races. And that’s why bmw Porsche and Audi are kings because they have the best transmissions in the business
Duh! They did a video of the IS500 vs Stinger. Stinger took it everytime at launch. Drag and roll the IS500 was able to outrun it by about a car length but with difficulty. Am sure the Stinger was also heat soaking after repeated races. It was very close. 3.3t is definitely underrated (prob closer to 400hp crank) and the Lexus 5.0 is overrated if you ask me (dynos have it at 445-450hp crank).
Yea the Stinger launch control from factory is weak. It doesnt allow you to build boost while stationary so its pointless. However theres a super cheap and simple mod called the brake snip that will let you launch with boost, it can shave up to half second 0-60 times.
It's interesting to see the Stinger walk the Q50 in this video, when the Q50 vs the Genesis G70 from two years ago was way closer. Same engine in the g70 & stinger after all.
I have no idea how the Q50 managed to stick around so long. It’s literally stuck in 2016 from day one and nothing ever changed. It’s not cheap either and it’s not quick. What a joke. Needs to be put out already
